In light of the recent shake-ups at B&B, as well as the behind the scene regime changes at Y&R and DAYS, I thought it would be fun to just go through each of the soaps and pretend as if I were EP/HW.  I initially had just envisioned the casting decisions I would make, but the more I got into it, I loosely came up with some story ideas that I thought might be interesting.  I will start with B&B and I will post my thoughts on the others later.  Let me know what you think and what you would do!

B&B Cast:  Katherine Kelly Lang, Winsor Harmon, John McCook, Lesli Kay, Hunter Tylo, Heather Tom, Don Diamont, Jacqueline Macinnes Woods, Kim Matula, Scott Clifton, Krystolyn Lloyd, Scott Kanan, Adrienne Frantz, Jacob Young, Adam Gregory, Ally Mills (need her for
comic relief; maybe put her with Eric down the road)

Get Rid Of:  Texas Battle, Lindsey Godfrey, Jennifer
Gareis, Aaron Spears; Ronn Moss and Susan Flannery Already leaving

Story Ideas (these would all develop over time and not happening all at once):

I would “kill” off both Ridge and
Stephanie; I would probably do a plane crash with both of them on the plane and
just not find the bodies; or I would have Stephanie succumb to her cancer,
which would be more poignant for this legacy character, but I would want to
make sure there was no chance of Susan coming back before doing this.

    o
    This would push Brooke, Eric,
Thorne, Felicia, and Taylor to the forefront

    Revisit the Steffy, Bill Katie
    Triangle

    Ignite a Brooke and Felicia
rivalry upon the deaths; have Felicia step in and take over the company after
Ridge and Stephanie die; Brooke fights her on this, but Felicia somehow forces
    her out

    o
Have Brooke buy up the old Jackie
M offices and bring over Rick and Hope; Felicia also forces out Steffy and
Thomas, since they aren’t legitimate Forresters; Brooke begrudgingly hires them
to her side, since she knows she needs all of the help she can get

    o
Have a battle of the houses

    §
Forrester:  Felicia, Thorne, Eric, Amber, Deacon

    §
Jackie M:  Brooke, Rick, Hope, Steffy, and Thomas

    o
Felicia recruits Deacon to come on
board on their side, failing to mention to him that Brooke and Hope are no
longer on board; have Brooke trying to bring Deacon over to their side ; ignite
    a Felicia, Brooke, Deacon Triangle

    o
Can have Rick sort of torn between
the sides; he goes over to Jackie M out of loyalty to his mother, but at the
same time, his dad and lover are on the other side, and it is also his
    “birthright”

Thorne, Taylor, Rick, Amber Quad (could have Thorne and Taylor get close again in the wake of Ridge and Stephanie dying; could also revisit Rick and Taylor, since they once had a past; at the same time, Thorne and Amber develop an attraction for each other as they work side by side at Forrester Creations)

Thomas, Hope, Liam, Dayzee Quad (I
would chem test Scott Clifton and Kimberyn Lloyd before doing this to make sure
it is going to work); you could also throw Liam back into Steffy’s orbit and
have Bill and him battle it out; or, what if Liam found out about Bill and
Steffy’s torrid affair and seduced Katie while filming it to stick it to his
    Daddy for “stealing” his woman

Overall, I would have the corporate storyline and the rivalry between
the two companies be the main story in the wake of these deaths, and then have
the romances eventually blossom naturally out of the business relationships; a
good corporate/fashion story has been sorely missing from this show and I think
the loss of these two vets could really be a great transition period for this
show and to refocus the show; Brad has been insistent on telling one story, but
it has only involved 3 characters; you can tell one story (the reignited war of
the fashion houses), but out of that would come many other stories, and this
would involve way more characters than this tired triangle

    Y&R:

    Get Rid Of:

    Genie Francis

    Stephen Nichols

    Debbie Morgan

    Darnell Williams

    Julia Pace Mitchell

    Crystel Khalil (already announced
    that she is leaving)

    Jessica Heap

    Blake Hood

    Amelia Heinle

    Ted Shackelford

    Catherine Bach

    Daniel Goddard

    Kevin Schmidt (already announced
    that he is leaving)

    Jen Landon possibly (I actually
really like her in this role, I just don’t think a female lawyer, and someone
is this age range is really needed; you already have a female lawyer in Avery,
and in Leslie, who I would want on full time, and I think both are more
interesting characters; you also have Lily, Roxanne, Abby, and Chloe who are
    all in this age range)

    Possibly Michael Grazidei (It
would be nice to keep around family for Phyllis, but I feel like he may have
run his course; he hasn’t had a good story or romance in years)

    Bring In/Bring Back:

    VICTORIA ROWELL (would do whatever
it takes to get her back)

Recast Lily:  Bring back Davetta; or Shannon Kane would
work; Kristolyn Lloyd from B&B would be good as well if she were willing to
    leave

Recast Victoria:  Amelia has grown on me, but she is more like
a different character than anything else; this character has lost a lot of her
strength since the recast, which is in large part to the writing as well, but
    even when they try to write her as strong in scenes, it just isn’t the same;
Ideally, we could get Heather Tom back, but I don’t see that happening, but
there are many actresses that could fill this bill that are not currently
    working:  Gina Tognoni, Sarah Brown,
Leslie Kay, Robin Christopher, Terri Conn, Tamara Braun, Rebecca Budig (I can
see each of these women playing the character with more strength, whether you
like them or not, they would each be an improvement IMO)

    Jess Walton

    Tricia Cast (Full time)

    Beth Maitland (full time)

    Tatiana Ali (full time if
    possible)

25-30 AA male that is currently
    being cast (Cornelious Smith Jr.)

Tonya Lee Williams (full time if
    possible)

    NuNoah

    Angel Conwell (As much as
    possible)

    Stories:

    Chloe, Billy, NuVictoria (GT would
me my preference) Triangle (I love Elizabeth Hendrickson, but I think she has
been sorely wasted with Kevin and has become boring, which she never was; put
her back in Billy’s orbit and reignite that spark because they were on fire
when they were first together; and pit her up against a formidable adversary in
Gina Tognoni, or any of the actresses listed above, and I think that would
reignite the fire in that character and I think it would further solidify these
    3 characters

    Kevin, Abby, Carmine, NuLily Quad

    NuNoah, Roxanne, Devon Triangle

Dru (use Olivia instead if you
cannot get back VR), Neil, Leslie Triangle

Adam, Chelsea, New AA male currently being cast

Victor and Nicki get back together
    permanently and become matriarch/patriarch

    Eventually Nick and Sharon, after
major reconstructive surgery is done on that character and let her be single for awhile as well

    Nina, Jill, Paul Triangle

Lauren/Michael Drama:  They are very good together, but they need
some drama, as they haven’t really had much story at all since they got
married.  I would have Michael and Avery
begin a steamy affair while consulting on a case together or something.  I would have it go on for months.  Have Lauren find out unbeknownst to them; have
her get drunk, and be at her most vulnerable state and decide to sleep with
someone else.  I think the most drama
would come in her sleeping with Kevin, as he is Michael’s brother, but I just
don’t know if he would do that (maybe he is in a vulnerable state too after
seeing Chloe sleeping with Billy); there could also be drama in having her
    sleep with Nick!

    Business Storylines:

    o
Get rid of Restless Style and
    Restless Style TV

    o
Have Billy go back to Jabot; maybe
have Chloe go to Jabot as a consultant of some sort, and have Lily be the face
of Jabot again, reigniting that rivalry; could have Abby be a model for Newman,
putting her up against Lily again

    o
Have Neil go back to Newman

    o
Maybe have Newman be on the brink
of bankruptcy because Sharon was in charge, Victor returns and he brings Neil
and Victoria back on to help bring it back from the brink; possibly have jack
all the while trying to buy up Newman shares under an alias, trying to steal
    Newman out from under Victor

I like all your IDEAS! I started to do one for GH but lost
    the energy..

    SO here is my ideas:

If I was in charge of ABC Daytime!

I would cancel “The Chew” and I would cut “The View” down
to 30 minuets instead of an hour. I would have a shortened “hot
topics” segment and enough time to interview one guest.

“The View” would air on ABC from 1130-12pm.

From 12pm-1pm would be local news.

Then I would air classic episodes of “General Hosptial” from 1-2pm,
and classic “One Life to Live” at 2-3pm.

GH would retain it’s 3pm timeslot, followed by “Katie” at 4pm.

    FIRE/Get Rid Of:

    —Steve Burton (already leaving)
    —Kelly Monaco
    —Brandon Barash
    —Lisa Locicero
    —Scott Reeves
    —-Dominic Zompargana
    —-Sebastiane Roche
    —-All Alexis’s Kids…
—All mob people (Sonny, Carly, all mobsters)
    –Bruce Weitz
    –Bradford Anderson
    —-Chad Duell
    -Anthony Geary

    –Drop To Recurring:
     –Julie Berman
    –Kirsten Storms

    —Kelly Sullivan

    Bring Back/Upgrade:
    –Jackie Zeman (contract)
    –Genie Francis (contract)

—Lucky Spencer (recast/contract)  (will be approximately 34) (casting suggestion: Thad Luckinbill or Kyle Lowder)
    —-Lynn Herring (on contracts)
    —Kin Shriner (recurring)
—Serena Baldwin (recast) (approximate age 20)
    —-Kristina Wagner (on-contract)
—-Sarah Webber (recast) (approximate age 32)
    —-Kassie DePavia (from OLTL) (contract)
    —–Melissa Archer (from OLTL) (short-term)
    —Florencia Lozano (from OLTL)  (short-term)
    ——Ted King (from OLTL) (recurring)
    —–Vincent Irrizarry (from AMC) (contract)
    ——Aiden Turner (from AMC) (recurring)
    ——Michael Nader (from AMC) (short-term)
    —Robin Strasser ( short-term/recurring)
    —-Pamela Peyton Wright (short-term/recurring)
    ——-Leslie Charleson (contract)
    —–John Ingle (on-contract)
    —John J. York (on-contract)
    —Sharon Wyatt (recurring)
    —John Reilly (Recurring)
    —JacK Wagner (contract)
—-Lucas Jones (recast) (approximate age 24)
—Tom Hardy Jr (recast)  (approximate age 50)
    —Constance Towers (contract)
    -Jon Lindstrom (contract)
—Kristina Baldwin (contract)  (approximate age 16)

    —Hillary B. Smith (contract)

    NEW CHARACTERS:

    Veronica Mathers-Hardy (approximate age, 44)

    TC Conners (approximate age, 19)

    Nadine Mathers-Hardy (approximate age, 18)

    Jeremy Mathers-Hardy (approximate age, 16)

I would start by having Johnny kill Sonny and Carly in an angry mob-war, and
get caught, he goes to prison for life.   This starts a war between
Anthony and Jason, but Jason decides the deaths of Sonny and Carly are the last
straw and renounces the mob once and for all. He and Sam leave town together,
newely reunited and happier than ever.    Without Jason and Sonny in town, Anthony see’s no reason to stay in P.C. and just leaves town, the FBI hot on his trail, with enough evidence to convict him for numerous crimes.

Now with his parents dead and Jason and Sam gone, Michael would be left totally
alone and would need a place to live, he would move in with his grandmother,
Bobbie at the brownstone, which she will newly re-acquire after having sold it
years ago.    Michael, newly rich from the massive inheritance
he got from his parents, is also angry and acts out, going on a crime spree
which requires much attention from the cops.    After an
intervention of sorts from Bobbie, Alexis, Kristina, Molly and others that care
about him, Michael realizes he needs to deal with his anger and he leaves town
after Bobbie finds a rehab center where he can deal with his anger, drinking
and other issues, after a plea is reached with the court through Alexis’s
pleading.    The reading of Sonny and Carly’s will goes as expected; Jax gets full-custody of Joselyn; Morgan is left in the custody of Jason and Sam, but after renouncing their lifestyle they agree it’s best to give custody to somebody better suited to be parents, and they sign custody over to Alexis who has agreed to raise him, and the kids all receive massive inheritances, with Bobbie serving as the executor of their trust funds.

Clearing a lot of these characters out of the way will open up the canvas for a
much needed re-focusing period.  I would First off re-focus the core of
the show around the hospital and the famalies that make up that
hospital.   With the Hardy’s all but wiped-out, I’d start rebuilding
that family with the re-introduction of a recast Tom Hardy Jr, the role
previously played by Matthew Ashford.  He would return to town after being
hired to take the job of Chief of Staff at “General Hospital”.
He will return with a new wife, and two step-children with this
wife.    His new wife, Veronica Mathers-Hardy, will be hired as
Chief Administrator at “GH” where she will be asked to make some
tough decisions after GH runs into financial trouble following a proposed
merger with Mercy Hospital, that falls apart.    The entire GH board of trustees is
called in to find a way out, including long-absent members Helena Cassadine,
Bobbie Spencer, Monica Quatermain, Edward Quatermain, Tracy Quartermain,
Dr. Kevin Collins and assorted others.    Veronica’s suggestions do not please the members of the board; they include–shutting down the “long
underperforming and needless Stone Cates Pediatric AIDS wing”, turning the
waiting room into a treatment center for minor injuries and referring
non-insured patients to the Mercy hospital free clinic.   She also
proposes a mandatory rule that prohibits nurses from working more than 45-hours
a week, as well as firing several popular and tenured nurses.
When Dr. Hardy is hired, with the boards approval, all the board members feel
that he will be able to restore some of the luster into what was once
“GH”.     However after learning that he is
married to Veronica who they see as the enemy thing spiral out of control,
especially after the members of the board turn on each other, blaming
themselves and each other for GH’s fall from prominance as a first-rate medical
center.    They all blame Monica and her family and say that
years of their personal demons and poor judgement sent GH on a spiral
    downwards.

The return of several characters would allow them to stay in
“GH”—-Kevin returns for the board meeting, with wife, Lucy in tow,
looking as fashionable as ever, and she decides they will stay put in PC once
and for all.     We would learn
quickly, that after spending the last years (since PC) in France and
traveling around Europe that Lucy and Kevin’s marriage has become strained,
Lucy resents that Kevin’s career as a French mystery writer has taken him them
all over the place, leaving nowhere for Lucy to put down roots or feel like she
is needed.  Meanwhile, the traveling, and
the fighting of Lucy and Kevin has left Christina Baldwin and Serena Baldwin at
    upsetting places in their lives.
After leaving PC for Europe with Lucy and Kevin, Christina and Serena’s
lives haven’t worked out well.   Serena
has turned into a spoiled princess with no moral compass and has gotten herself
into legal trouble after getting caught in a Paris nightclub with cocaine.     Her attitude has gotten her kicked out of
numerous French colleges and fired from the one job she managed to get for more
than a month, at a French fashion house.

Christina, unable to keep up with the French language has
fallen behind in school.   She and Lucy
are very close, but she wishes she could see Scott more often than she
    does.    Scott, meanwhile has been
traveling the world with Laura, trying to find a way to completely cure her of
her cationic state.   He hasn’t spent
much time with Serena or Christina, and has allowed Lucy and Kevin complete
control over their lives, a fact Serena often resents, stating that “He dotted
over Karen, mourned her after her death and just gave me away to Lucy”.    Once in PC, Lucy takes a stand against
Kevin, saying she will be plating roots and doing things her way. She intends
to get Christina enrolled in Port Charles High School, tested for what she
believes to be a learning disability and that she plans to re-open her career,
starting with re-launching her failed cosmetics line, Deception Cosmetics.    Kevin is flabbergasted at Lucy, accuses her
of being selfish and unsupportive and threatens to divorce her if her
priorities don’t change, but after a heart-to-heart talk with old friend Mac,
he realizes what an ass he is being and apologizes to Lucy, explains he is also
exhausted from the traveling and would love to return to PC for good.      Serena comes to town with a chip on her
shoulder and asks why the hell she would want to live in a small town like Port
Charles when she’s partied in Paris?
Lucy and Kevin take a hard line with her and say she can move to PC with
them of they will cut her off, she says she’ll just ask Scott for money, but
they’ve already talked to him and he agrees Serena needs to move to PC.  In PC, Serena is forced by Lucy and Kevin to
enter a rehab for her drinking and drugs, and this is where she meets, T.C. Conners,
a rough around the edges street kid with a dark past, formerly working as a
hustler for a mob-affiliated pimp and a history of drugs (including heroine)
which got him in trouble after he was busted and sentenced to jail if he didn’t
complete a 6-week rehab stint.     At
first, TC and Serena don’t get along as he views her as a spoiled princess and
calls her “Paris Hilton”, a name she doesn’t like, and she gets after telling a
story about having partied once with the famous socialite.  After another girl in the rehab tires to
start a fight with Serena and steals a emerald ring that Serena claims was once
Dominique’s, TC steps in and retrieves the ring, and scares the other girl away
from Serena for good.    After seeing the
good in TC, Serena begins to fall for him and the two make love.    Having a new ally sets both on the right
path and they complete rehab, and decide to get married.     Lucy and Kevin both disagree as to whether
or not they should let Serena marry TC, who they have differing feelings about.
Lucy remembers back to Stone and Robin and worries that Serena could be at risk
for HIV since TC lived on the streets and used drugs; Kevin is less worried and
see’s a lot of good in TC, and says he supports the marriage. They decide to
call in Scott for a third opinion, and he agrees with Lucy, goes off the rails
and forbids Serena from marrying TC.   He
also threatens TC with jail time and says he’ll use every connection he has in
PC to get TC thrown in prison.    This
causes Serena and TC to flee town, Serena pawns Dominique’s ring and they get
bus tickets to Canada.    They are
stopped at the boarder as TC has no passport and Serena’s lists her as a wanted
felon in Paris, for a robbery of an antique ring, an emerald one.   Scott,
Lucy and Kevin must deal with this crisis, but they all turn on each other, as Scott
blame’s Lucy and Kevin for not giving Serena a better moral foundation; and
they blame Scott for not being around for her.

After Scott manages to get both of them freed and back into
PC, he and Lucy and Kevin make the decision that Scott is to move back to PC to
    be more present in Serena’s life, he also has a big announcement for everybody;
Laura has been cured totally and they are engaged to be married.  Laura returns to PC looking more beautiful
than ever, and happier than ever before.
The return of Laura sets off a chain of emotions for Lulu, who has never
had her mother in her life before, and isn’t sure how to mend this
relationship.  It causes some anguish for
Anna; who fears that Luke will flee her and run into Laura’s arms, a fear that
an angry and upset Tracy manages to bury further into Anna’s head in a moment
    of hatred misdirected at Anna.

I would also bring over a few family members for Anna to
interact with, such as her AMC ex-husband, Dr. David Hayward, who would move to
PC seeking the advice of his ex-wife, but being David he has an agenda, he
wants to win back her heart.  He explains
the last few years in Pine Valley and how he brought Stuart back to life and
his issues with Dixie and Greenlee, and how they’ve changed him; and how being
a  father to Marissa and Babe made him a
better person. Anna doesn’t believe much of what David is selling, which makes
him more motivated than ever to get her heart back. He accepts a position at “GH’
where he is named Chief of Surgery, amidst all the turmoil with Dr. Hardy and
the board, it seems nobody called Pine Valley to check his references, though a
fleeting reference is made to Dr. Joe Martin having not said a kind word about
him.       I would also transplant Aiden
Devane over to GH, since Anna is his Aunt.
He would join the PCPD, and become John’s new partner.    Michael Nader would appear as Dimitri Marrick
on a short-term basis as Anna needs to contact her twin-sister Alex, and is
unable too, Dimitri would come and inform Anna that Alex is sick and is unable
to help out Anna.    He would then catch
Anna (and viewers) up on the goings-on in Pine Valley as he relays “what I’ve
heard from Brooke and Erica, who I speak to on the phone often”.

After Michael leaves town, this makes Starr very depressed,
her daughter and Cole have died and now Michael who she was warming up too is
gone, still angry at Todd she needs help and calls her mother Blair and Aunt
Dorian to come for a visit.   Dorian
stays for a few days and comforts Starr, but senses that Starr and Blair need
to be alone, she quickly returns to D.C. with the promise that she’ll visit
    often.   Blair realizes her daughter
needs her and uproots her life to move to PC.
She mentions that she has put Jack and Sam in a boarding school nearby
so they can be close to their parents but that Blair will have time to deal
with Starr.     Blair uses her experience in the business world
(and a slight cash-infusion from Dorian) to buy out-right the MetroCourt hotel,
but makes the quick decision to renovate it into something a little more her
style. After months of renovations and marketing, the MetroCourt is
re-christened as the BCM Towers (which stands for Blair Cramer Manning), a luxury
style apartment complex.       A very short and brief visit from Addie
Cramer would help Blair decide to move to PC.
Addie offers some advice to Blair and Starr and then departs for
    Llanview.

The opening of this new building would be launched with a
huge party that brings out Port Charles elite.
This would be the scene of Jerry’s final act, he would attempt to murder
Bobbie Spencer; but will be caught by retired WSB agent Frisco Jones, who was
attending the party and he is sent to federal prison.    Bobbie is thankful to Frisco for saving her
life and beings to have a bit of hero worship towards him.  He respectfully declines her advances, he is
set on winning back Felicia, who is now firmly in a relationship with Mac, his
brother, a fact that doesn’t seem to bother him.  Bobbie on the other hand starts to grow
jealous of the time Frisco is spending trying to get with Felicia and reverts
to some of her old tricks, including lying and manipulating things so that
Frisco doesn’t want to peruse Felicia anymore.

To further Todd’s story, I would have both Tea and Tomas
appear on-screen for a short-term contract role in which they finally resolve
the Todd/Victor story.    Tea would tell
Todd that Victor is alive, so he is no longer a wanted fugitive.   Tomas would explain to Blair everything that
happened, and attempt to revive their relationship, Blair will explain she’s
too busy caring for Starr; who is in the middle of a mental breakdown, and her
love life is secondary, but will leave the door open for the future, which
prompts Tomas to buy a penthouse in Blair’s new building.   After resolving the baby-switch story, Tea
leaves town, but makes Tomas promise to keep in touch.     She is tempted by a job offer from Anna to
be the new D.A. but decides to return to Llainview.        I
would close-out the Natalie/John saga by having Natalie come to PC for a visit
to attempt reconciliation with John, beg him to come home, and fight for
her.  After it becomes clear that John
and her won’t be together she decides it’s only fair to sue him for custody of
Liam.    Natalie hires Nora Buchanan as her lawyer,
while John hires Alexis, the lawsuit is filed jointly in New York and Pennsylvania,
a court in NY rules that Pennsylvania
has jurisdiction because it is where Liam was born and resides primarily.    John fights for everything he has, but
loses to Natalie, who gains complete physical custody, child support, and is
awarded 200,000 dollars for spousal support since John broke their
    engagement.     After the trial Natalie
says a final farewell to John and leaves town.
Alexis is impresses with how Nora tried her case and the two go out for
drinks start talking, they decide right then and there to open a law-firm
together, and become partners, the firm of Buchanan-Davis &  Associates is opened.    Having Nora in town proves a thorn in the side
of Todd Manning, when Nora vows not to let Todd run wild in PC like he did in
Llanview.   Nora mentions that her and Bo
broke-up off-screen when he cheated on her with “some blonde convict named
    Lindsay.”

When Laura returns to town, Luke wonders if they’ll get back
together, but Laura assures him she’s happy with Scott and has moved on, she
holds no ill-will towards him.    Luke
realizes that he has no place left in PC as he’s never fully recovered from the
death of his grandson, and he decides to leave town once and for all. The
problem is trying to tell Anna that he’s leaving her, as he sits and ponders
this decision, the weight of it is all too much to bear and his heart gives
out. He collapses on the floor of his long-abandoned night club right then and
there. Lulu discovers him and calls 911, he is rushed to the hospital where he
is treated by Patrick, but is unable to be revived. While Patrick frantically
works to revive him, Luke discovers he has passed through to the “other side”
but that he has yet to earn a spot in heaven; and that he has a lot to answer
for.   In a storyline similar to the Albert
Brooks movie “Defending Your Life”, Luke is confronted with everything in his
life; all the choices he made, the wrongs he committed and the people he
hurt.    He is forced to answer questions
    from a jury of God’s servants, all made up of former PC citizens; Stone Cates;
Lily Rivera, Ruby Anderson (his aunt), Katherine Bell and perhaps most scarily,
his former best friend, the now deceased Sonny Corinthos.    The scenes of Luke’s “trial” will be
inter-spliced with scenes of Patrick and other doctors trying to save his
life.   After three episodes, the jury
decides that Luke needs to own up to his sins before he can enter heaven and is
sent down to hell where they feel he belongs.
With that we slowly reveal Luke in one-setting he hates most of all, a
corporate office where he is now spending eternity as a secretary working for
the angel of death herself, Katherine Bell.        On earth, Luke dies and his family
mourns.   Everybody in PC society turns
out for the funeral of Luke.    Lucky
returns and delivers the eulogy, a stirring speech that makes everybody cry.
Laura talks about how through Luke she saw both the very best and very worst of
humanity.   She discusses the feelings of
loneliness she felt before Luke entered her life, and how he also filled her
with so much love during his life.
Lulu talks about how she and Luke had ups and downs; but she always
respected Luke, and how she fears ending up just like him.   Alexis and Lucy both talk about how Luke was
a great friend to them and helped them become who they are.   Bobbie discusses how Luke always got her out
of scrapes and saved her from many difficult situations, and how she’ll be lost
without Luke around to serve as both brother and father to her.   Robert delivers a final speech about
friendship and loyalty and how Luke had both in spades.    For the service, Tiffany and Sean return to
town, completely torn up over Luke’s death and with a major surprise.   Upon reading of Luke’s death; they raised
over 200,000 dollars to fund the restoration and re-opening of Luke’s prized
Jazz Club; renamed the Lucas Spencer Jazz & Gaming Club.   A grand re-opening is had, where everybody reminisces
    over Luke.    Luke’s nephew, Lucas
returns for the services and visits his mother, Bobbie for the first time, she
hasn’t seen him in years but learns that he’s fallen on hard times.   He is addicted to drugs, has worked as a
drug dealer and hustler and may have been infected with HIV.    He comes to his mother and begs for her
help, she checks him into GH and hopes for the best, but has a sneaking suspicion
that Lucas isn’t telling the complete truth.

To help re-instate the hospital as a main focus; Monica
would become the chairman of the board of trustees, but would also serve as a
consultant on difficult cases; Elizabeth would be promoted to head nurse,
replacing Epiphany who is fired; Bobbie would take a job in the administration
field, and Sarah Webber (recast) would return, now a fully-listened, board  certified doctor she will fill a vacant
position in the cardiology department, since Monica has her new job.   Elizabeth would struggle with having to answer
to her long-absent sister, especially in PC where she has spent the majority of
her life and career. We would explore some deep seeded issues between the two,
especially when we learn that Sarah is now married to somebody very close to
Elizabeth; Sarah is married to Lucky Spencer (recast also).   We would learn that after leaving the GH canvas,
Lucky and Sarah reunited and as adults fell in love.     This would ignite a  Lucky/Liz/Sarah triangle, only more
complicated by Liz’s growing relationship with Patrick.   John Ingle would be bumped to a contract and
Edward would take on a Victor Newman like situation where he gets involved in
various misdeeds with Helena and butts heads with Tracy over ELQ.     He would enter a marriage from hell with
Helena and cause trouble all over town, especially when he buys Jax and Sonny’s
interest in the hospital board and with Helena becomes controlling partners of
the hospital, causing much hell for all involved.  On the personal side, Dr. Tom Hardy’s  two step-children, Nadine and Jeremy, are
mostly good kids, Nadine is a honors student, and Jeremy is a violin
prodigy.   However having been raised in
a homeschooled environment they have no idea what they face at PC High
School.    Jeremy is bullied for being a
geek, Nadine is picked on for being adopted and being of half-black.      Nadine becomes friends with a group of
popular girls but falls out of favor fast when she refuses to pick of Christina
Baldwin; who has minor special needs.
She and Christina become close friends, and the Christina (who we will
say is 16) realizes she is a lesbian and is in love with Nadine, who despite
liking Christina as a friend, is not gay.
Christina takes this as a rejection and has issues accepting it.  She decides to get revenge, and after seeking
the advice of Helena Cassidine, who she hears people say they fear, she is led
down the absolute wrong path when advised to kidnap Nadine.    Unbeknownst to her, Helena plans to turn on
her and hold both girls hostage in one of her latest evil plans.      Once she is able to, Helena kills
Christina, vowing it her ultimate revenge against Scott Baldwin and Lucy Coe,
long-time enemies, plus she says it will hurt “stupid, Laura Baldwin”.     Nadine is horrified at this site, but
manages to use her skills to break free from Helena and get to the police, she
informs Anna of what has happened and Anna, John and Aiden are able to arrest
Helena.      This prompts Edward to seek
revenge on those he feels wronged Helena.

Eventually I would have Serena and Maxie become friends, but they would have a major falling out when Maxie lonely after Spinelli leaves Port Charles for a job in Washington hits on T.C. and jealous after he rejects her, acusses him of trying to assault her.  She eventually tries to frame Serena for stealing some drugs from the hospital, but her plan backfires when she is caught by Elizabeth who lectures her and reports her, which gets her work-based probation at the PCPD, under the guidance of John McBain, who is irritated by her at first, but comes to understand she could serve a purpose afterall, as she has a skill set he doesn’t possess, which is making people fee comfortable talking to her.   She also knows Port Charles better than possibly anybody at the PCPD.   Maxie would slowly but surely start to fall in love with John, who rejects her advances flat-out, saying they are better off as friends only.   Meanwhile, John and Felicia work together a lot when she revives her P.I. business and consults with the PCPD on numerous cases;  John begins to see a lot to like about Felicia, but she only has eyes for Mac at this point; that is until Frisco returns to town and all hell breaks loose.

DAYS:  I will just do cast cuts and additions for now and possibly some story ideas later, as I haven’t really thought about that yet

    Get Rid Of:

    Camilla Banus

    Sean Christian

    Galen Gering

    James Reynolds

    Eric Martsolf

    Beverly Todd (if she’s even
    still there)

Melissa Reeves (I am on the fence with Melissa; I don’t really see much use for her with Jack gone and I really don’t want to see her with Daniel again; at the same time I would really want to get Susan Flannery back as Laura Horton, who is her mother, so it might make more sense to move Melissa to recurring and just have her in scenes with the Horton family)

    Josh Taylor

    Molly Burnett already leaving

    Peter Reckell already Leaving

    Lisa Rinna already leaving (I
would honestly kill Billy off; I think it would create great drama, and would
give Lauren Koslow and Brian Datillo some meaty material to work with; I don’t
really see a purpose for Billy anymore to be honest; that would also be an
organic way to bring Chelsea back, preferably Rachel Melvin)

    Bring in/Bring
    Back:

Rachel Melvin (If Rachel can’t or won’t come back, maybe someone like Meridith Hagner (too young?) or Lindsey Fonseca, if she were to come back to soaps)

Blake Berris (on contract if he
    isn’t already)

SORAS Theo and Ciara to Teens

Martha Madison (I prefer Kirsten Storms, but she is already going back to GH)

    Jason Cook

    Jay Kenneth Johnson

    Nadia Bjorlin

    Kyle Lowder

    Greg Vaughn and Eileen Davidson
    already coming in

    Susan Flannery

DAYS really needs a better teen – late 20’s set, so I think these additions would help that and they are all tied to the history of the show.  With Molly Burnett leaving, that basically leaves Camilla Banus as the young female lead, which is very sad IMO (it should be Kate Mansi, who I think is a really good actress when given material, but they rarely seem to use her for whatever reason, when I would much rather watch her than Gabi).

Great ideas! I’d love to write these storylines right away. What I would add:
    introducing RJ, Dino and Alexandria
Alexandria taking her revenge on Taylor for Darla’s death and Taylor’s romance with Thorne shortly after
revisiting Bridget and Felicia’s tense relationship (or character of Felicia at all, really)
introducing some sneaky model who tries to pave her way to the top, would be great as say Alexandria’s friend who seduces Thorne and just, months later, turns out to be… Diana Carter (daughter of Sheila and Massimo!), would be great to kill Massimo off-screen and re-introduce the girl with her true identity during the reading of the will
    I’d take Katie-Bill-Steffy over Hope-Liam-Steffy anyday!
revisiting Amber and either Taylor or Stephanie’s friendship
    Bridget and Owen getting married
and, most of all, return of Kristen – either with Tony dead, Zende missing, Zende taking drugs, her marriage with Tony finally consumed and now she’s HIV-positive, the possibilities are truly endless

It would be great to use some crossovers with “The Young and the Restless” in either show. Victor Newman “seducing” Brooke to piss off Ridge and Taylor (1999) was one of the best moments in the history of the series. Not to mention that Sheila’s switching off from Y&R to B&B gave the show much needed push and they should try something like that once again. For example send Taylor to Genoa City to help Nikki sort out her mess and at the same time send Phyllis to Los Angeles to start cooperation with FC, only to meet Amber again and create brand new problems, maybe teaming up with Bill.

Some of these posts were longer, so I just got around to reading through them.  I love so many of these ideas!  GHFan, the suggestions for B&B are perfect, I think, something they could execute almost immediately and do really well with.  I also really like your suggestions for Y&R, which I think would certainly be steering the show back in the right direction.  Of all the potential Victoria recasts you named, though, the only two who didn’t immediately strike me as seeming too old are Terri Conn and Rebecca Budig.  Actually, I don’t think Sarah Brown or Tamara Braun would be too old, but they seem too something.  I can’t really see it with either of them, even though I know Sarah Brown especially has been thrown around as a possibility for the role for a long time.

Boidiva, your reimagining of GH (and the ABC lineup) is inspired!  Some of these shows don’t seem to care half as much about history and heart as you clearly do.  I think the show you laid out would be great, unrecognizable from current GH, but better.  I did have to chuckle, though, at two unrelated occurrances of the young male drug-addicted hustler.

I’ve drawn up some ideas for DAYS that I’ll post shortly.

gdfl, you are to Jamie Lunar what Daniel used to be to Erin Hershey Presley.  But I definitely don’t disagree.

Here’s what I would do with DAYS if I were in charge, and thanks GHFan for the info, as I had totally missed that Lisa Rinna is leaving:

In terms of cast, the biggest problem, and I hate to say this, is that the show is a little old.  DAYS has done a B+ job of keeping veterans on cast and on screen, even with the numerous cast cuts and firing Drake and Deidre a few years ago.  On the other hand, they’re more on like a D level in terms of developing and retaining younger characters.  They haven’t valued their younger characters much, and they seem strangely averse to recasting in many cases.

To balance things out, I’d CUT Caroline, Kayla, Roman, Justin,
and Adrienne, bearing in mind that Ian, Jack, Bo, Billie, Madison, and Melanie are already gone or leaving, and that characters like T and Brian are likely not sticking around long term.  Doug and Julie are great characters to have in a recurring basis, so I’d keep that as is.  Chloe’s return is supposed to be short term, and I think that’s for the best.

    I’d KEEP Marlena, John, Abe,
Kristen, Hope, Jennifer, Maggie, Victor, Kate, Stefano, Sami, Nicole, Rafe, EJ, Brady, Eric, Lucas, Daniel, Abigail, Will, Sonny, Gabi, Chad, Nick, and Cameron, though I’m not particularly attached to Daniel, Brady or Cameron.  If more cuts had to be made, they’d be first in line.

Then I’d beef up the 20somethings and 30somethings.  Obviously my first priority would be getting Christie Clark back as Carrie, but I’d also ADD Belle, Shawn, Phillip, Brandon, Autumn (Lucas’s ex-fiancee), Chelsea, Stephanie, and Neil (Will’s other love interest).

    Storylines:

    With Bo leaving, I’d
take the opportunity to mix things up a little with Hope.  Have her grieve the loss of Bo for a while,
drawing close to the other Hortons and throwing herself into work.  Put Hope in charge of the police
department.  Bring in a new love interest
for her, and then have her lock horns with Kristen.  (I don’t think Hope will work all that well with any guy already on canvas, especially with the other stories they’ll be involved in.)

    Start Kristen off as
trying to turn over a new leaf, sort of, much like EJ often is, then of course
get her at odds with Marlena and John.
(They could face off over any number of things, even if Kristen wants
nothing to do with John.  Dimera
    Enterprises vs. Basic Black; John trying to claim pieces of the DiMera empire;
EJ/Sami stuff; tensions between Will and Chad.)
Then Kristen and Hope become interested in the same man, and Kristen fights for him.  That could be really exciting.

    Introduce Lucas’s
fiancée Autumn, who could be any race and somewhere between 25 and 35.  Depending on casting, maybe she could be
    Cameron’s half sister.  Bring Brandon
back and, depending on whether or not Shawn is on canvas, light a spark between
him and Belle.  It would be great to have Shawn back short term, but I don’t know that he needs to stick around.  Have Sami and EJ get
married, but with obvious trust issues.
Eventually, they’d get into a feud of escalating love/hate schemes and
    payback.

    EJ gets proof Nicole’s
baby is his and goes after Rafe and Daniel for their duplicity, with legal
action.  Rafe escapes, but Daniel faces
some sort of consequences (suspended medical license, EJ making him leave town,
    something).

    When an operation Rafe
is leading goes bust, several officers are wounded, pushing Roman to an early
retirement and putting Rafe in serious trouble with the department and the
law.  Carrie returns to defend him, which
prompts Austin, now enjoying the attentions of many an impressionable female grad student
as a teacher in Switzerland, to issue an ultimatum.  Carrie can’t leave Rafe in trouble, so she
rushes to his side, along with her newborn son/daughter.  Carrie, Rafe and the baby end up in a
dangerous situation where the same criminals who hurt the other officers take
action against Rafe.  He and the baby are
presumed dead, while Carrie gets away.
Feeling she’s lost everything, Carrie cuts loose/comes undone.  (This is how Hope becomes chief of police.  Maybe Abe resumes his position as commissioner.  I’d like to see Abe and EJ honor the promise they made to Lexie and actually try to get along.)

    Kristen finds Rafe near
death and has him held captive in a mental institution where he’s made to
believe everything he thinks is his life is just a lie.  Or something.
Because she worries Rafe is a threat to EJ’s marriage.  (I’m working with the idea that Kristen will feel protective over EJ not just as a step-sibling but also a mother figure to him, and also be protective towards Chad.)

    Victor helps Kate fight
Stefano’s non-compete lawsuit and allows her (with Lucas) to rebuild their
cosmetics brand using Mad World resources.
Maggie gets jealous as Kate and Victor start getting along again.  Phillip returns to claim leadership of Titan,
    to Brady’s chagrin.

    Shawn and Belle return
to Salem in the wake of whatever happens to Bo and decide it’s time to give
Claire a more permanent home.  Belle and
Shawn are clearly having problems.  Belle
starts working with Brandon, who’s come back to town to be there for his sister
(and her new baby) and his grieving father and nephew, Belle as a pediatric nurse and
Brandon as a child psychologist at the hospital.  Eric and Nicole begin to rekindle their
feelings for one another, but Eric is also drawn to another woman on canvas,
who, depending on chemistry, could be almost anyone.  But Brady, if he’s still around, may also want Nicole back.  It might be better, though, to just have Brady ride off into the sunset with Chloe.

    Love triangle with
    Will/Sonny/Neil.  Will and Sonny finally
start to get together, but Neil keeps pursuing Will.  Neil is kind of a bad boy and exciting, while Sonny is stable and lovely, but maybe a little boring, especially for a volatile trainwreck of a man like Will.

    Gabi and Nick bond over
the things they’ve done to hurt others, Melanie in particular.  They become friends and seem to be getting
closer when Chelsea and Stephanie come back to town.  Chelsea’s feelings for Nick are still
strong.  With Melanie gone, Chad wonders
if he let things go with Abigail too quickly.
Cameron and Stephanie bond over their work at the hospital, and Abigail
and Cameron start to feel that they may be too far apart to make things work between
them.  But Stephanie doesn’t want to make
the crazy mistakes she’s made before and doesn’t want to interfere in her
    cousin’s relationship.  Meanwhile, she
finds herself spending a lot of time with Phillip and Parker.
Lots of ways things could go in this group, but I think I’d play Chad/Abigail/Cameron, Cameron/Stephanie/Phillip, and Chelsea/Nick/Gabi.  I wouldn’t revisit Belle/Phillip, as I think that’s best left in the past.

For the time being, I’d let all the kids (Theo, Ciara, Johnny, Ali, Sydney, Claire) stay kids, but in a few years, they could easily replenish a teen/tween set with these six along with JJ and possibly Joey.

To summarize past debates on the recasting of Victoria, when Amelia Heinle was hired, rumor had it that Sarah Buxton, Christina Chambers, and Christie Clark were all in the running.  Of those, Christie Clark is the only one who I think could fit the bill.  Here’s my opinion on the other suggestions:

Tamara Braun:  could play Victoria as she is now (but then what would be the point of recasting?) because she can play the emotional notes, but being tough/bitchy is not her strong suit IMO

I think you have that backwards, lol… I’ve always felt that her strength was coming across, cold, icy and bitchy.   And that her weakness was conveying an actual emotion.

I have said this before, but again, in an ideal world, Krista Allen would be Billie.  Or Jamie Luner haha!

or Julie Pinson! I loved Julie Pinson.

    Why, thank you!

I thought we had a moratorium on suggesting Julie Pinson for anything!  Or was that on the old boards?  I guess it’s been a while since her name came up.

Krista Allen would be my Billie as well, but I was enjoying Lisa Rinna.  It doesn’t seem like they had many plans for her anyway, unfortunately.  I hope there’s at least a scene with Billie and Nick before she goes.  Billie sleeping with Nick was one of the best out-of-nowhere twists they’ve done in recent years, and some of Julie Pinson’s best work on the show.

I have to say, as much as I feel like JP wasn’t the best fit in the role, most of the writing for her during that time was a couple of beats off.  She was desperate and messy, but in all the wrong ways.  Jamie Lunar could be fun in the role.  But I think that, even with a ton of possibilities for her, they may be better off without Billie around right now.  She’s a great character to bring in to stir things up when they’re settled, and right now everything is pretty stirred up as it is.

    And you’re welcome, Boidiva!

Ooh, Vanessa Marcil (I guess we can drop the Giovannazzo now?) as Victoria would be really fun.  Actually, Vanessa Marcil as Billie would be really fun, too.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Hope vs. Kristen story idea.  (I realize I’m just patting myself on the back, but still.)  For starters, there are a ton of sexy and talented soap actors who they could snag to play the role.  Jon Hensley, Michael Park, Trevor St. John, Vincent Irizarry, Grant Aleksander, William DeVry, and that’s just off the top of my head.  Also, the story-building would be great because Hope would obviously not want to jump into another relationship after Bo and it would take a pretty long time for her to warm up to the idea.  In the meanwhile, Kristen could be dating this guy, even though he’d be carrying a torch for Hope all along.  He wouldn’t leave her for Hope, but something would happen to cause Kristen and this guy to break up.  By that time, Hope might be ready to give things a shot, and that would make Kristen furious.  Having flashbacks to what happened with her, John, and Marlena, she’d kind of snap and really start messing with Hope.  I could be really exciting.

Here’s a random choice for Vcitoria on Y&R: what about Susan Haskell from “OLTL”. She could perfectly capture the heart of the character and definetly has the range to play the bitchy side too.  Her work as Marty is a perfect example of her ability to play both the dark and light aspects of a character.

Ha, I just noticed that the typo at the end of my last post — “I could be really exciting” instead of the intended “It would be really exciting” — makes me sound even more self-aggrandizing.

I don’t think DAYS has actually cared much about Billie as a character since the 90s.  If they think they can get Lisa Rinna back, they do it because she’s Lisa Rinna, who has not only a DAYS fanbase as Billie but popularity outside the daytime sphere.  They cast Krista Allen as Billie because they wanted Billie, but I think they only cast Julie Pinson as Billie because they need Billie to be around to write the Chelsea stuff as a catalyst for stuff with Bo and Hope’s storylines.  Pinson looks like Rinna, and I think that was enough for them.  The character was an afterthought.  I think if they’d been really interested in actually writing stories for Billie, Lesli Kay may have been considered.  She would be a great Billie, and her and Lauren Koslow as daughter and mother would be awesome.

Susan Haskell is interesting to me for Victoria.  She also seems a touch too old for the part, but maybe that’s just me.

Haskell is only four years older than Amelia Heinel.
