Michael Logan is reporting what has been assumed online. ABC is severing is bowing out in the legal battle w/PP and is casting the three actors in new roles. I assumed that was going to happen w/Alderson and Easton, but why do that w/the one that was the biggest success w/Howarth?! And like Logan mentioned, if someone could do this it is Ron (and I say that w/praise and snark). Playing wait and see b/c I did enjoy most of SJB return as Claudia (those final months were EPIC!).

It’s a sad battle going on and Prospect Park should be thankful the GH writers were able to move some stories along. With that said, GH should applaud the fact that two Soaps are returning and should compromise with what Prospect Park wants. If they want the 3 actors to return to OLTL then so be it!

Why not Just Change the names of John, Todd, and Star, and let them continue in the current storylines they are in…John is now James, Todd is Trevor, and Star is Stacy…this makes more sense to me then to come up with 3 new characters…and every now and again, they can give inside jokes like “Wait, whats your name again”

I wish the resolution to this situation were better.  As a viewer, it feels like Prospect Park is being unreasonable and should kind of just give it up and let the characters stick with GH.  But the overriding feeling is that it was pretty crappy of ABC to continue to take PP’s money to license these and all the other characters when you can see from what GH was doing that they had no intention of ever having to return those characters.  PP doesn’t own the rights to the characters by coincidence, they’re actually paying for them.  GH/ABC wants it both ways, collecting money for the licensing of the characters and expecting to just be able to keep them on whatever schedule they choose.  I can only imagine how much more annoyed I’d be if I actually had some interest in seeing any of these three characters back on OLTL long term, which at this point I certainly do not.

I wish they had just figured out a way to share these characters. Frankly, Todd and Starr are pretty essential to OLTL (john to a lesser degree) and their presence is needed in Llainview.

With that said, I have no interest in seeing them on GH as new characters, just write them off GH and let the go back to OLTL. I have a feeling a year or so from now they will see their contract at GH expire and will go back to OLTL.

I think you’re fooling yourself if you think the new OLTL and AMC are going to be anything more than a shadow of the original series.  The publicity department has done a good job of letting us know the “big name” stars that are on board, but we all know that they will only cater to the younger, more sexually-appealing characters.  From what I have read and seen, the younger generation will take over so that PP can have their slice of the CW pie.  Don’t be surprised if vampires turn up on either of these shows.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’ll take them back without hesitation, but I don’t want people to think that the new writers were going to be writing for Todd, Starr and John but for a few scenes here and there.  I see this as ABC’s botched job.  They should have secured these characters permanently before airing them on GH.

Also, my first thought was the same as jw79bull above – – just rename the characters.  The problem is that the characters are considered a “likeness” and PP would sue ABC if any of their characters resembled the same.  I doubt Michael Easton will be playing a cop.  I doubt Roger Howarth will be playing a publisher, etc.

Nonetheless, I think the writers of GH are more creative than the writers of Days, B&B and Y&R combined.  I am sure RC will come up with a way to incorporate these three and tie them to the characters they were originally paired with.  My suggestion would be to have them play characters who are already tied to the canvas.  Here are some of my suggestions:

Roger Howarth as Dr. Mike Webber.  Beef up the hospital now that Steve is gone and replace him with Rick and Lesley’s adopted son who is now a hot-headed, conceited doctor who rubs the rest of the staff the wrong way.

Kristen Alderson as Serena Baldwin:   Why can’t Serena and Michael have a romance?

Michael Easton would likely to have to play a new role as I cannot think of another character that could be connected to existing characters that would match Easton’s look.  Although, Easton could play Blackie Parrish – fresh out of prison!

Itunes have the descriptions of the shows. I have to disagree about the disdain for the young. If done right, this WILL be great. While we love the vets, I feel that there needs to be a passing of the guard. Each show has done a great job of setting up their younger characters as the new leads and having the familiar faces along to function as either leads or supporting. w/iAMC the big stories for the young are Petey/Celia, AJ breaking the Chandler curse, and Miranda becoming her grandmo…er…”mother’s mother”. And w/iOLTL major drama w/the next generation of Buchanan’s w/Matthew/Destiny/baby Drew and Corbin Bleau’s character playing a part of reigniting the Viki/Dorian fued.

I think, and w/good reason, many of us has been disallusioned when soaps focus on the young. But in this instance I am going let it pass/wait and see b/c this is a reboot and tbh the way it should start out as opposed to picking up where they left off (which were shiteous IMO).

Pujolsfan, I had the same thought of having Howarth, Alderson and Easton just come in as recasts for characters that already exist.  KA as Serena makes a lot of sense, but I thought that Carly Schroeder was supposed to be coming back into that role?

DC is 99.9% on point w/their scoops, but I am fearing that w/this nonsense we will lose the chance to see Carly back as Serena and they’ll end up having Kristen play her. Which I would’ve been all for this time last year.

Kristen Alderson as Serena… I guess it wouldn’t be so bad, but I’d rather have Carly Schroder back.

I mean GH really should have just let these three actors go and allow the GH core to come back into focus.

Well this should be interesting.  According to SOD, these exciting storylines will lead to the answer to one of the most answered questions in Port Charles.  I’m assuming that question is not ‘What the hell is happening with these OLTL actors?’

The new rumor I’m hearing is that Howarth will be working on BOTH shows and that Prospect Park is continuing to negoitiate with Alderson and Easton about working on both series as well.   I’m hearing that when he is not working at “GH” he will appear on “OLTL” as Todd.  He will play a different character on “GH”.

I’m hearing they may offer Alderson and Easton the same deal while they continue to negotiate with ABC/GH.

My gut says the moment their “GH” contracts expire they will quit that show and return to OLTL.

As a fan/pratical this whole thing is cray as hell and if it were any other show, this would not be meet w/a wait and see attitude. No tea/shade towards Frank and Ron, but at the same time it is lol.

But in the end, I get it fromt he actors end. You can’t tell me that none of us would turn down a job on a network hit to do an experimental online soap w/ppl that have been shady in their ways (but working w/Frons, I am sure they are no strangers to shady suits). If anything I would try to do what Roger did. Go finish out my run as this iconic character for the fans and get back to a job that I am happy at.

As for the other two, the sneek peak of iOLTL, they are not needed. Dani is the new Starr and Kelley Missal has the chops to be the young lead of the show. Cutter and Natalie are HAWT, so John is really not needed unless they want to clean up the mess w/Natalie and their child. And the character really came to life, despite of the convenient plotting that brought him there, on GH.

So in this rambling, all I can say is GET MONEY LLANVIEW 3 and hope that Ron and Frank can pull this off.
