SOD is reporting that the fan favorite will be back in December to be a part of the reintroduction of the Nurses Ball.
I only know her PC history and her fun turn on ATWT, but this show is a mess. But I am happy for her and the fans.
I don’t think GH is a mess at all. In fact, I think it’s the most watchable of the loot. Is it perfect? No, but it’s come a long way from where JFP and Bob Guza had it. Not to mention, it’s hard to argue that popularing PC with the likes of Finola Hughes, Ian Buchanan, Kristina Wagner, Jane Elliott, Robin Mattson and now Lynn Herring could possibly be a bad thing. I appreciate that this show isn’t all about teenagers and their fake angst. I’m appreciative that the show seems much less mob centric. It’s much more flamboyant than it is used to be – certainly. But I like the fun. I think RC and FV did the same thing with OLTL and you can’t argue with the fact that the ratings are better.
Lynn Herring’s return is great news. Does anyone know if it’s short term or long term? From what I read, it seemed like just a stint, but who can be sure.
As far as the show as a whole, I had thought I might watch it, sporadiscally, after OLTL went off the air, but I haven’t been able to do it. The thing that bugged me the most at the end of OLTL was Todd, and then they brought him over to GH. Starr was probably number two, and they brought her over as well. Then there was the immediate start of a DID storyline and the whole Natalie/John business on GH. None it is an objective criticism, I guess, but I just have no interest because of all that.
I’ll be happy to see Lynn back in any capacity but I’m just not sure reviving the nurses ball now is going to have the same impact it had in the 90’s when GH was in it’s top form. For one, the focus on the hospital isn’t there anymore; most of the characters that centered around the nurses ball are long gone and the HIV storyline isn’t front and center now like it used to be. I just am not sure it’ll work the same way it used to do, plus who will Lucy fight with and end up in her underwear?
I’m hoping to see it succeed; but it’ll be hard to match those first several years of the magical nurses ball.
