It has been confirmed (SPOILER ALERT!) that fan fave Erin Hershey Presley (ex-Alison, GH/PC) makes her long awaited return to daytime reprising the role of Alison Barrington for a guest arc set to air this week.

Now I know how all the non-OLTL fans felt when it was announced Roger, Kristen and Michael were coming to GH. I stopped watching Port Charles long before the telenovela/vampire stuff started and I don’t want to see any of this on GH.

I know plenty of classic soap fans on here that will surely love this news. Immediately, 742/Daniel Montgomery and BoiDiva came to mind! Congrats!

Having PC peeps on GH makes sense to me more than having OLTL ppl on here. I am really torn on the upcoming story b/c I personally loved the arcs the show did and all of that is being negated for a sweeps murder mystery that could become even more wonky given the developments w/the OLTL characters.

And I too thought of Matt and Daniel when I saw this, lol.

You are so right! This makes me VERY happy.   I think it’s so great to have Lucy, Kevin and now Allison coming back.  Nelson Branco had mentioned this in his Soap Opera’s Uncensored column some weeks ago and now it’s true!

Yup, I can’t even think of Erin Hershey Presley without imaging Daniel suggesting her to play any female character that comes anywhere close to matching her description.  Good news for fans who loved Allison and PC, I guess, but the more in they go with the vampire story the more ridiculous this all seems to me.  I can’t imagine a resolution to this that makes sense and doesn’t seriously crap on some PC and possibly GH history.

I totally understand the reasons that you are worried about this story Emmyloser.    It could turn out bad.   I mean my fear is that you can’t really tell the story of Lucy’s years on PC without mentioning somebody like Ian Thornhart who was her other major romantic partner (besides Kevin), and I don’t see GH going down that route.

It’s a tricky situation, but I have some faith that Ron can get this right.

It’s going to turn out bad from what I hear. I keep telling folks Ron C is a terrible headwriter and no one wants to listen. How many characters from the past did he bring back to OLTL just to…..*fill in the blanks*

I am waiting to reserve judgement, but as a fan I hate that it seems like they are Bobby Ewing the vampire yrs. of “Port Charles”.

I will agree with syrus80 on one point, as good a writer as Ron is, he does have a tendencey to bring back old characters and then write them into a corner, or in some cases simply not use them to their full potential. This was evident on OLTL and is likely to be the same issue on GH.    I guess I’d be happier with this storyline if they had it appear in a more organic way; or if they had simply made Lucy use it in a comical way and brush it off, something like “Oh, Remember when I was nuts and thought I was a vampire slayer?”

That would have been much better I think than turning poor Lucy into a raving nut-job.    OR they could have simply had other characters be like “Oh, remember when you lived on the other side of PC and dealt with all those lunatics”.       Honestly, they didn’t have to bring this up at all.    By the time the vampires came around GH had already mostly disassociated itself with PC anyway. They could have simply never mentioned it again (the vamps I mean).         The resemblance of John and Sam to Livvie and Caleb should have just been a passing mention, oh you look like somebody type of thing.

Yes, agreed, Boidiva.  That’s the kind of thing the fans appreciate without going down the tricky road GH seems to be on now.  I try not to get too down on Ron C., even though I know that in here and on the old message boards I’ve had a thing or two to say about his work.  What’s bugging me now about GH is the way he’s cannibalizing the other ABC shows.  As an OLTL fan, I waited through months and months of nonsense and stalling for John and Natalie to get together two episodes before the end of the show, and then John shows up in Port Charles and the whole thing with Natalie is thrown to the fire.  It’s that kind of thing, like just killing Hope and Cole and like the Tomas/Lorenzo thing, but if it does turn out to be a Bobby Ewing thing with Lucy and the vampires, I’d say that’s worse.  But I’ll say again, I should stop complaining because I’ve barely watched any of GH in over a year and I know there are some fans who are enjoying it.

I just think it would do a big disservice to the history of the show to make the entire run of PC a dream or a psychic vision.    Evne though the two shows mostly dissassociated themselves by the end, there was a LOT of common history shared between the two for many years.   I think they could have done this in a much more satisfying way.

and YES, I agree with your point about what Ron has done to the OLTL characters.   I sort of understand WHY he killed off Hope and Cole; though they could have easily achieved the same goal by simply having Cole return to Jail and Hope go live with Blair.    There was no need to kill them off.     I am also upset about the way Natalie has been handeled.    I understand the need for John to be single in order to work on GH, but they could have done it differently.     I don’t get why they didn’t just have Melissa Archer come on a few episodes; have Natalie and John mutually agree to split up and share custody of Liam.    It would have achieved the same goal.

The Natalie being absent was ridiculous since, despite PP having the characters, they brought on Blair and Tea.
