General Hospital has found its new Kiki Jerome. Former The Young and the Restless actressHayley Erin (ex-Abby) will assume the role vacated by Kristen Alderson.
Erin played the role of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) daughter from 2008-2010 on the CBS soap. She was replaced by Emme Rylan, who now plays Lulu Spencer Falconeri on GH.
In story, mob princess Kiki Jerome is raising her baby sister Avery, while their mother—the ruthless Ava Jerome (Maura West)—is in prison for murder. Kiki is also reconnecting with ex-husband Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig), who also dated her mom.
It’s funny that GH now has two former Abby Newmans in its ranks, and that they’re romantically involved with brothers. Hayley Erin made pretty much no impression me as Abby on Y&R, and I don’t remember the character doing much during her time on the show, at least not when I was watching. It’ll be interesting to see how she plays the role of Kiki, a character who I could see becoming vastly different in the hands of a different actress.
I’m not a fan of recasting, but the role of Kiki is not iconic like some other recent recasts, so I do not object for my usual reason. In this case, GH needs to trim the size of its cast, and natural attrition is one way to do it. Oh well.
Is she the gawd-awful actress who played Abby a few years ago? In which case, yuck! How many actresses have played Abby on Y&R? The one I am thinking about was completely incompetent and totally annoying!
