it’s been confirmed that John Paul Lavoisier’s Days are numbered and he will be exiting the 51 year old soap soon.

I didn’t care for his work on the show in the role of Philip and I hope this makes room for returns of past favorites.

I just posted about this in the DAYS thread, too.

I liked JPL’s Philip just fine, especially in the scope of everything else on the show, but I wasn’t sure what they were planning for him with Belle gone. Even now he seems to have very little purpose other than as a distraction for Belle, and the Belle/Shawn story appears to be a very low priority.

I am very disappointed by this. It seems like my favorite characters are being written off one after another, leaving Days to focus on characters I do not enjoy, like Steve, Andre, Deimos, and Eduardo.

I’m sure they have some fans, but I’ve yet to encounter anyone who enjoys either Eduardo or Steve at this point. To some degree, the show seems to be picking up on who some of the less screenworthy characters are, but one of the bigger issues is that there is something majorly wrong with basically every story section. (Character that you can’t stand, plot developments that make no sense, behaviors that are just ridiculous . . . ) Some are worse than others, and it’s almost a balancing act of just not letting any one character or plot play often enough to become intolerable, which is an awful way to have to run the show.
