She’ll air until May.  Via DC.

I’ll be sad to see Mansi go, and she’s really grown on me the past couple of months, doing some stellar work and making Abby a favorite of mine.  She’s a beautiful and talented young woman, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her find success outside of daytime.  I wish her luck.

Does anyone know whether the show will be recasting (or I guess if they’ve recast already, considering the production lag time)?  While Abby isn’t a character I think of essential, I’d certainly rather they found someone else to play the part than write her out at this point.  We’re getting to the point where almost everyone in Salem will have either a high school ID or an AARP card.

I’m really going to miss her too!  I’ve always liked her, but she transformed into
a strong leading lady this year.  I think
they are going to recast her, EmmyLoser.
I remember a couple of months ago there was a blind item that a lead
performer was leaving, and then shortly after, a casting call came out that
sounded a lot like Abigail, so the rumor has been out there for a while that she
was leaving and would be recast.  The casting
    call read as follows:

    “Val”
is said to be 25-years-old, gorgeous, female, who is described as “passionate,
intelligent and sensitive. Val blows into town in a whirlwind… She appears
successful on the outside, a girl who seems to have it all but … at times she
has a fragility and (vulnerability) that gives us the feeling of a painful past
that she desperately wants to keep secret.”

I think DAYS should definitely go with a name soap star,
rather than someone new who needs to find their footing, as this is a character
who is essentially the young adult heroine of the show and in a budding super
couple, so they need someone who can hit the ground running.  Two names that immediately came to mind were
    Brittany Underwood or Kim Matula.

Kate Mansi is certainly leaving on top. She has done her best work in the last few months. I wish her well.

Although I am generally against recasts, I think in this case it would be ok.

Thanks, GHFan.  The “Val” description does sound like Abigail, and I’d love to see either Brittany Underwood or especially Kim Matula take a shot at the role.  She’s a little young for it, but I also think Kelly Missal could be great in the role.
