    1. Billy Miller, Y&R – he was amazing in the Delia storyline. The episode where they showed what Delia’s life might have been was phenomenal. I don’t like Y&R very much these days, thought it was pretty awful in 2013, but the acting in this story was special. He has won 2 Emmys; I think he will win a 3rd.

    2. Jason Thompson, GH – I felt that Patrick was a supporting character for most of 2013, but I did love his work with Sabrina and Emma during the Nurses Ball the the scenes Robin and Emma at the end of the year. He’s the onlynominee who has never won. This is his 4th nomination.

    3. Christian LeBlanc, Y&R – the 3-time Emmy winner had great material in 2013, particularly the separation from Lauren scenes early in the year.

    4. Doug Davidson, Y&R – he’s always solid, but boy is he nominated in the wrong category! Paul had no major stories throughout 2013! Loved his scenes with Jamie when Jamie was suicidal. He won last year.

    5. Peter Bergman, Y&R – always solid, always reliable. Had good scenes with the paternity reveal, but… I wish they would “rest” him. He’s the most nominated actor in history (is this his 19th nomination?) He has won 3 Emmys. There were others (James Scott in particular) who deserved recognition.

    1.  Billy Miller, Y&R
    2.  Peter Bergman, Y&R
    3.  Doug Davidson, Y&R
    4.  Jason Thompson, GH
    5.  Christian LeBlanc, YR

FreemanGriffin, if Peter Bergman, probably the most dependable actor on daytime right now, has to stop submitting his name, then so does Heather Tom.

James Scott doesn’t get nominated that often, cuz he’s not that great of an actor, he’s hot with a sexy accent, but he seems angry all the time. and it looks forced, not natural, also a majority of his scenes are with alison sweeney, who clearly year after year is not liked by the academy, i assume that has something to do with it….

I think FreemanGriffin would be happy for both of them to stop submitting their names for a while, especially Heather Tom.

youngsoapfan, that’s blasphemy!  Can you stop going through the forum and talking smack about one of our greatest treasures, lol?  No, I get that James Scott’s style doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I think he’s consistently great (which seems like something of a consensus, since he’s been nominated for a Goldie this year and for the last five years).  I’ll agree that every once in a while he goes a little overboard or pushes a little too hard, but I’d rather have an actor who errs on the side of giving a little too much than one who doesn’t give enough.

younsoapfan, I partially agree.  I do not think Scott is as good as everyone wants him to be, but he’s one of the highlights for me on Days because he’s a far better actor than most of the other males on the show.  But I do not think the material he is given is always that significant.  Also, remember that while Days certainly had a commendable year last year, most years are uneven.  Even 2014 has not been that exciting thus far.  I do not find the show as well-rounded as GH which pretty much leaps from one reveal to the next without missing a beat (Y&R misses ALL the beats the majority of the time, skipping them too frequently, and B&B really has no beats).

As for Sweeney, I will say this.  She has come a long way from the girl who was reading cue cards in 1993, but Sami has always been very one-note for me until recently.  First, when Sami’s baby, Grace, died.  Sweeney was magnificent.  When Sami was accused of killing Bernardi, she was pretty good.  However, I do not think growth necessites an Emmy nomination.  I was not surprised that Ari Zucker was nominated instead.

LOL!  I don’t necessarily agree on all counts, but regardless, this is very well said.

Sorry, but have to weigh in that James Scott should have been nominated, and yes, he is a treasure to the genre. He has brought me to tears numerous times including when Johnny was in the hospital and when Nicole lost their baby, just to name a few. He has displayed such a range that you can’t help but root for his character even when he is doing the most vicious things. To me, that takes talent. I also think Benard should have been nodded – and I’m not even a huge fan of his.

That said, I think Bergman prevails, tho Miller is likely the favorite and might very well win. To me, Bergman never hits a false note and he certainly had the material to win and that is not taking anything away from Miller. I just prefer Bergman.

    1. Peter Bergman
    2. Billy Miller
    3. Jason Thompson
    4. Christian LeBlanc
    5. Doug Davidson
