I was looking through the list of actors and actresses to determine who have been the Guest/Limited Performers from each show in 2017. This is only a partial list, I am sure I have left a few names out. Please let me know two things: names I have missed; and if you feel that anyone really doesn’t belong in Guest/Limited Performer. I was also confused by whether some of these names weren’t on in 2017, but were only listed on Wikipedia as being on during the calendar year. I define guest/limited as having infrequent appearances up to two months in duration. I decided against actors who left their shows early in the year who were regulars but not those who were on as guests.

    The Bold and the Beautiful:

Paolo Benediti, Ian Buchanan, Mick Cain, Dick Christie, Jennifer Gareis, Linsey Godfrey, Sean Kanan, Francisco San Martin and Alley Mills

    Days Of Our Lives:

Melissa Archer, Matthew Ashford, Brandon Beemer, Tamara Braun, Shawn Christian, Christie Clark, Patrika Darbo, Eileen Davidson, Robb Derringer, John Enos, Morgan Fairchild, Shelley Hennig, Leann Hunley, Jennifer Landon, Martha Madison, True O’Brien, Austin Peck, James Read, Marcia Rodd, Meredith Lynn Scott, Charles Shaunnessy, Alison Sweeney, Paul Telfer, William Utay, Tionne Watkins, and Robert Scott Wilson

    General Hospital:

Bradford Anderson, Jennifer Bassey, Shari Belafonte, Blake Berris, Trent Dawson, Robin Mattson, Kimberly McCullough, Brooklyn Rae Silzer, Hillary B Smith, Jessica Tuck, and Tonja Walker

    The Young and the Restless:

Kate Linder, Beth Maitland, Tristan Rogers, and Jessica Nicole Webb

James dePaiva, Jessica Tuck & Hillary B Smith for GH. And I’d place Leslie Charleson in supporting. She had quite a bit of story and screen time with the 2 Jason’s story.

John Enos (ex Bobby Y&R) played Elvis in Memphis on DAYS.

A couple of specific comments: I think Kristian Alfonso’s work as Gina should just be folded into the rest of her work for the year rather than being counted separately, so I wouldn’t put her on the list. Also, it seems like Ashleigh Brewer was too much of a presence on B&B to be considered a guest or limited performer. Christie Clark should be on the list for DAYS.

Generally, I would also say that we should distinguish between former stars of a show whose character returns to make a guest appearance and those whose characters still regularly exist within the world of the show (in LA, Salem, Port Charles or Genoa City) but are just not on very often. Kimberly McCullough and Alison Sweeney are good examples of the former, where they brought those characters back from somewhere for a story or event and then left. And this seems like a good category for actors who play minor characters that appear infrequently or only in a minor capacity, like Alley Mills, Kate Linder or Meredith Scott Lynn. But I think an actor whose character was formerly very prominent on the show and now has simply become much less prominent while not having left the show should not compete with others in the same way. People like, for example, Lynn Herring, Kin Shriner, Judith Chapman or Lauralee Bell could walk into a scene on GH or Y&R on any given day, and so I think should have less leeway in terms of how much they can be on and still count as a guest or limited. If they only appear in five or six episodes, they sure, that makes sense. But if the character is generally available, present within the environment of the show, and on screen from time to time, and was at one point a prominent character on the show, I don’t think they should be in this category. Maybe that’s a minor point and doesn’t make sense to pick at, but it seemed worth bringing up.

I was under the impression that that category is ONLY for new characters and not returning characters to their role. So alot of those actors named above are definitely not eligible for the guest category, unless they have changed the rules for this year?

Youngsoapfan, I think this is for the Goldies. We do not follow the Daytime Emmy guidelines as they are too restrictive.

Freeman, I do not think recurring actors should be in the Limited Run category. For that reason, I would eliminate Obba Babatunde, Ashleigh Brewer, Anna Maria Horsford, Alley Mills, Kristian Alfonso, Meredith Scott Lynn, Nicolas Bechtel, Kathleen Gati, Lynn Herring, Kin Shriner, Kristina Wagner, Michael J. York, and Lauralee Bell.

This discussion is about the Goldies, here on Gold Derby, not the daytime Emmys.

O.K., there seems to be agreement that certain performers don’t belong in this category. I saw this list as “suggestions” rather than a rigid list. Last year there was one vote for Maura West for Guest/Limited Performer! I was very very surprised! (; My thinking was along the lines of including actors and actresses who are hardly ever on but I can take those suggestions off the list.

O.K., so I read your suggestions and made some cuts to the list. I looked up the cast lists for Y&R and am convinced I must have left some names off. Was Ray Wise a guest during 2017? How about Angel Conwell? I watched about 90% of the episodes in 2017 and am blanking out big time! (conversely, Days has had a ton of guest/limited performers and I bet there are some missing from this list). I have not been able to find the name of the actress who plays Betsy on GH (why do I have this vague memory that she is James Franco’s real life mom?). If anyone feels that there are names that should be added to the list please let me know. (:
