This is a list of any actor or actress who might submit their name for LEAD Actor or Actress; if you think there is anyone missing or think they will likely submit in Supporting, let’s discuss! (THis is NOT who I think should submit – several actors I dislike are on this list)

    Lead Actor
B&B: Darin Brooks, Scott Clifton, Don Diamont and Thorsten Kaye
Days: Shawn Christian, Eric Martsolf, and James Scott
GH: Maurice Benard, Michael Easton, Anthony Geary, Roger Howarth, Ryan Paevey and Jason Thompson
Y&R: Peter Bergman, Eric Braeden, Steve Burton, Doug Davidson, Christian LeBlanc and Joshua Morrow

(my personal prenoms: Brooks, Christian, Diamont, Geary, Howarth, LeBlanc, Martsolf, Morrow, Scott, and Thompson)

    Lead Actress
B&B: Katherine Kelly Lang, Kimberly Matula and Heather Tom
Days: Kristian Alfonso, Eileen Davidson, Deidre Hall, Jen Lilley, Melissa Reeves, Alison Sweeney and Arianne Zucker
GH: Nancy Lee Grahn, Finola Hughes, Kelly Monaco, Michelle Stafford, Kirsten Storms, Maura West, and Laura Wright
Y&R: Sharon Case, Jessica Collins, Amelia Heinle, Melody Thomas Scott, and Gina Tognoni

(my personal prenoms: Case, Grahn, Hall, Heinle, Stafford, Storms, Sweeney, Thomas Scott, West, and Wright; Davidson I would place in supporting, also Alfonso and Zucker in supporting for me this year)

(Some of these could submit in the Supporting categories; I’m hoping ED submits in supporting, and I’m hoping several don’t submit at all: Bergman, Tom, Benard and Clifton. And of course, I’m hoping Sweeney & Scott submit!!!!)

Kirsten Storms lead actress on GH?  No way.  Same with Darin Brooks.  I just don’t think either fit in a “lead” category when there are so many other potential and more worthy “leads” on their respective shows. And Morrow would never stand a chance with the rest of those actors.

    Lead Actor:

    Days:  James Scott, Shawn Christian
Y&R:  Peter Bergman, Doug Davidson, Eric Breaden, Christian LeBlanc
    B&B:  Thorsten Kaye, Don Diamont
GH:  Anthony Geary, Maurice Benard, Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, Jason Thompson

    Lead Actress:

Days:  Eileen Davidson, Allison Sweeney, Arianne Zucker, Melissa Reeves, Kristian Alfonso
Y&R:  Melody Thomas Scott, Jessica Collins, Jess Walton, Gina Tognoni
B&B:  Heather Tom, Katherine Kelly Lang

I have no objection to listing Darin Brooks in lead actor for The Bold and the Beautiful because, along with Scott Clifton and their leading lady Kim Matula, they have been front and center, driving story, on that CBS soap throughout 2014. If that’s not carrying lead roles on a given soap, then there is a distorted notion going on that’s more about something else than recognizing reality.

Kirsten Storms was not consistently on the front burner to be listed in lead actress for General Hospital. Interesting thing, of course, is that I would not refrain from considering Storms and her leading man Ryan Paevey on the same categorical level. And I would also say the same concerning The Young and the Restless‘ Jessica Collins and her leading man Steve Burton.

I do agree, as mentioned by at least one other forum member, that the 2014 Emmy winner for supporting actress, Y&R‘s Amelia Heinle, should be bumped to the lead-actress category. I would say that her leading men should also be considered as such. But, in all frankness, I don’t think David Tom and Burgess Jenkins or Sean Carrigan are on the Emmys radar. That’s not to say anything about skills or talent; it’s that Heinle, with her individual performance, delivers the kind of sublime work that has a way of sneaking up on you. (It evidently did with the Emmy voters. Not many predicted her win.) She is a 20-year vet of the daytime dramas and is greatly effective in the role of Victoria Newman.

I already have one particular Emmy pick. What I don’t want to do, right now, is mention that actor or actress because I think this thread is necessary for helping to shape a potential consensus of nominating suggestions. (It shouldn’t be limited to placement only in the lead ranks.) The one thread on following the entire season, with noted air dates, where forum members give “citations” is fine; but this really helps to, if you follow, break it down.

    NOTE:

I need to mention that, from one suggestion, I disagree with Pujolsfan.

Jess Walton did not carry a lead role, with 2014, on The Young and the Restless.

I placed Kristian Alfonso in supporting, but I could see a case for her being in lead – we know that some leads and supporting players put their names in contention in the ‘wrong” category (the lovely Peggy McCay was nominated for her supporting role 2 years ago in the lead category; Alicia Minshew placed her name in supporting several years in a row, scoring one nomination in that category, before finally coming to her senses and putting her name in lead – and got a nomination there as well). I’m not exactly saying KA would be in the wrong category; her screen time and impact felt supporting to me personally…

Darin Brooks/Kim Matula/Scott Clifton all belong in lead – it will be interesting to see where they submit (and Matula could submit in Younger Actress for a last shot at that prize).

I forgot all about Steve Burton – don’t particularly like him – but Dylan definitely feels like a lead to me. Steve Carrigan certainly got a ton of screen time in 2014 too…

I thought about Ryan Paevey for lead – he’s very borderline. Despite Kirsten Storms’ maternity leave, she felt like a lead to me throughout the period she was on. (Anthony Geary could be considered supporting based on screen time but impact-wise I can’t see him placed there).

It’s really going to be interesting who lands where this year! As long as Alison Sweeney WINS the Best Actress trophy, that’s what matters to me most for 2014!

A lot of these people are pretty borderline.  I’m almost scared to give opinions on them because I don’t want to contradict what I’ve already said in previous threads!  I keep changing my mind.

I think Pujolsfan’s list is a little closer to what will actually happen than FreemanGriffin’s, though I could see some like Eric Martsolf, Sharon Case and Amelia Heinle also jumping to lead.  I would guess Kim Matula sticks with younger actress, which is a category that has been supportive of actresses who are leaving or have left their shows.  Kirsten Storms and Ryan Paevey don’t feel like leads to me, but then my viewing was sporadic throughout the year, so that could be off.  There are some performers, like Kristian Alfonso and Anthony Geary, who I don’t see submitting in supporting.  They will either submit in lead or not submit, and I’d be surprised if Geary at least didn’t submit this year.  I also think Deidre Hall will submit lead.

It’s difficult to predict who will submit. Jess Walton was off the canvas for the most part, so she may pass. Tony Geary was gone for at least 6 months, so he may opt out as well. Kirsten Storms and Ryan Paevy will probably go for supporting. I don’t think Storms even submitted last year, and she had plenty of great material. Darin Brooks, Jen Lilley, Steve Burton, and Nancy Lee Grahn  will probably go for supporting, although Grahn has had a good bit of screen time this year. Scott Clifton should definitely bump up to Lead, but that does not mean he will. Even though Michelle Stafford has had enough air time to submit in Lead, I do not consider Nina a central character and would place her in supporting.

Kirsten Storms did submit last year but was not one of the five GH actresses to make it to the prenoms ): (remember, 5 each from GH and Y&R only last year)

I really hope somebody leaks the lists of everyone who submits and in which category!

Maternity leaves, long illnesses – should it be based on amount of screen time or consistent lead storylines? I see Maxie as a lead because she has her own storylines and does very little supporting of others’ stories.

Wyatt is definitely a lead but that doesn’t mean he will submit for lead.

I’m glad they have pushed up all the dates for us so we won’t have to wait forever to find things out!
