Sad news, Agnes Nixon has died at the age of 88. As you all know she is the creator of “All My Children” and “One Life To Live” (among others) and has had a direct impact on many other soaps as well.

I saw this sad news yesterday. She leaves a great legacy with the immeasurable impact that One Life to Live and All My Children have had on the daytime industry and entertainment at large. A good number of stars in daytime and outside of daytime were introduced or garnered much favorable attention because of these shows and the work Agnes did. She’s an absolute legend, and it’s a sad loss for the daytime community.

She also worked on As the World Turns, The Guiding Light and Another World early in her career, and co-created Loving. She had such an amazing career and got her start working for Irna Phillips on radio soaps in the late 1940’s. She created Rachel on Another World, which was the template for Erica on All My Children. She was truly one of the greatest of the greats in daytime history (: Thanks for the memories! (:

Agnes Nixon was one of the true daytime greats. She wrote for almost all of the best, long-running east coast soaps: AMC, OLTL, AW, ATWT, and GL. As a true fan of the east coast serial, I appreciate her contribution to the world of daytime. She had a tremendous impact on the lives of so many actors, craftspersons, and fans. Thank you, Agnes.

Thanks for everything Agnes. Especially Erica Kane.
