I found out today. Surprising. (At least from where I’m at.) David Canary won his best-actor Emmys, for playing twin brothers Adam and Stuart Chandler on ABC’s All My Children, in 1986, 1988, 1989, 1993, and 2001. He was nominated 16 times during his 27-year period on the late soap.

Sad and surprising news.  His work on AMC was iconic.

The world of daytime has lost one of its very finest. An inspiration to so many, and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

What a great actor, who provided so much pleasure on daytime television in particular! (: I remember when he played the back from the dead  Steven Frame on Another World. A few years later he found his greatest roles: Adam and Stuart Chandler – I esp. loved his work with Julia Barr and Marcy Walker. (:

    It will be the past
and we will live there together

Not as it was to live
    but as it was remembered

    It will be the past.
    We’ll all go back together

    Everyone we ever loved,
    and lost, and must remember.

    It will be the past
    And it will last forever.
                            Patrick Phillips 1970

…David Canary’s talent and brilliance will never be in the past tense. It lives on.

This was such sad news. David Canary was truly an iconic entertainer.

Nothing Canary did was phoned in.  He made magic out of ALL of the material he was given.  I loved him with Lucci but his work with Marcy Walker and Julia Barr was golden.

I was very upset when I heard this news. One of the greatest actors to ever grace daytime TV; and more importantly by all accounts a truly good, decent man.  I never heard anybody have a negative word to say about him.

His work opposite Julia Barr and Marcy Walker was always something to watch, an example of two masters at the top of their craft.

An icon. Never a false note with his work, especially with the garbage he got towards the end. I also look to him as the standard for the dual roles.
