In a year w/so many high profile deaths, the daytime industry loses one of their own in prolific producer, Paul Rauch.
Controversial, but just like many of his types in many mediums, he was one of the greats.
He was working on a project before his death and will be honored at the next Emmys.
I do have to say that Variety article ain’t shit w/its comment about “websites devoted to soap operas described him as legendary”. -_- and get the fuck out here w/your transparent atempt to get traffic in the form of soap fans to your site. I see all these big sites doing that post AMC/OLTL cancellation and it makes me crossed, especially when they get names wrong. At least this was upfront in their lack of knowledge, so there’s that.
Sorry for the rant.
To get back on topic, what is your favorite memory from the shows he produced or some of the favorite lores sourrounding him?
For me since my soap viewing was new, I did like how he kept Y&R’s lush look during his time as EP (don’t use co-EP given what has been revelaed about MAB time there). From Youtube, the camp of OLTL (Eterna and the Old West were trainwrecks viewing in current eyes, but all the detail involve was something.) and Cynthia Watros handing every bitch in the game their lunch during the Annie stuff on GL.
As for the stories, that Ellen Holly piece where she dragged him was life when I read it.
I was not a big fan of the work of Paul Rauch.
He always reminded me of Tony Soprano in a Brooks Brothers suit. Part l’enfant terrible and
part mad genius. Both vexatious and brilliant. This lightening in a bottle will be missed
for a myriad of reasons.
Paul dream with the angels ( and try not to p i $ $ them off )
