Say it isn’t so ): Daytime legend – Emmy and Goldies winner – Jane Elliot (Tracy) has decided to leave her iconic role on General Hospital ): I miss her already… she has given us so much pleasure! On GH, GL, The City, Days, etc. She has been on daytime for more than 50 years.
It’ll be a real shame for GH to lose Jane Elliot. Not only is she just fantastic to watch, but Tracy is pretty much the only thing making the Quartermaine family continue to feel like an important part of the show. But I guess it has seemed like she’s been ready to get out of there for a while now.
It is sad to see her go. She is a daytime legend whose performances have given me (and countless others) many moments of pleasure. She is so funny, and yet she does heartfelt emotion so beautifully. She has been like a light in the fog on GH. I will miss Jane, but I wish her all the best.
I kind of felt like this was inevitable. As soon as Anthony Geary retired I figured Tracy wouldn’t have much time left on the show. Very sad, but she’s had a long run in daytime. She can go out with her head held high.
Jane Elliot, who won her Emmy in 1981, turned 70 this past January. It stands to reason that anyone having reached a level of age that has one knowing it may be time to bring an end to one’s worklife, may want to go ahead and do just that.
It was five years ago that Susan Flannery made the same decision. Two years ago, Anthony Geary did the same. Perhaps there will be more to come. The fact is, no one lasts forever.
