Ravenswood, starring DAYS alum Tyler Blackburn (ex-Ian), debuted last night with a host of other soap alumni guest starring, including Henry Simmons (ex-Tyrone, AW), Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie, AMC) and Laura Allen (ex-Laura, AMC), and possibly others I missed.October 23, 2013 at 12:17 pm #424095
Probably should’ve posted this before it aired but didn’t realize Adrienne Barbeau would be on Sons of Anarachy last night. Barbeau played Brenda Barrett’s loyal assistant Suzanne Stanwyck on General Hospital (before she went nuts and was revealed as the Balkan’s wife). On Sons she played a vile and obsessive child pornography ring leader named Alice. It was a small part, but she did some great stuff with what was handed to her. She does sick, twisted, and rage very well.December 16, 2013 at 12:20 am #424097
For anyone who, like me, was unfortunate enough to have missed seeing the first broadcast of The Sound of Music Live! but caught its encore showing yesterday night (how great was that? Thanks, NBC!!), there were two very brief but still memorable appearances by our daytime alums, ATWT‘s Michael Park (playing an Austrian baron) and AW/OLTL/GH‘s John Bolger (playing a German Admiral). It was really special seeing both back on screen after their stints on Broadway.
Also, did y’all spot Freddie Smith in the new McDonald’s commercial? He’s looking mighty handsome in that Gladiator outfit. Great casting, McDonald’s! Just imagine if all the millions of McD customers who see that commercial were to now start flocking to watch DAYS… the ratings would be through the roof and beyond! Okay, okay, unrealistic I know, but still a guy can dream, right?December 16, 2013 at 10:43 am #424098
HA! Thanks for those, alokin. I have The Sound of Music on the DVR but haven’t had time to watch the whole thing yet. I haven’t seen John Bolger in a good while, so it’ll be really great to see him again, and Michael Park as well.
I haven’t seen these McDonald’s commercials with Freddie Smith! I’ll have to look for them. I did see, I’m pretty sure, the lovely young lady who plays Emma on General Hospital in a commercial for some kind of stuffed animal. She looked adorable.
I was actually just going to most here that DAYS and GH alumna Maree Cheatam has appeared twice now on Hart of Dixie (which also stars Y&R alum Wilson Bethel) and it looks like she’ll be making some additional appearances when the show returns in January. I also noticed when I IMDbed her that she has a bunch of other primetime credits, so I guess she’s been pretty busy in stuff I haven’t seen.January 16, 2014 at 10:03 am #424099
I just read that Nathan Parsons (ex-Ethan, GH) has snagged the role of James on True Blood. James had to be recast after last season because the previous actor didn’t like the direction his vampire character was going, so it’s safe to say that Parsons will get a decent amount of screentime in this role.January 17, 2014 at 7:49 am #424100
And just like that, Nathan Parsons lands a recurring role on a second vampire show! In addition to his upcoming role on True Blood, he will also be appearing on The Originals.January 17, 2014 at 11:17 am #424101
He does has that look. Never did anything for me on GH, but good for him on making that $$$January 23, 2014 at 3:12 pm #424102
Just read this news about Mark Hapka snagging the lead in a show called Parallels. I’m not sure where this show is going to air, or I guess if?, but still seems worth mentioning: soapoperadigest.com/content/days-alum-nabs-lead-role-new-series. I loved loved loved Mark Hapka and the junk in his trunk when he was on DAYS, so the prospect of him starring in a show is especially exciting.February 14, 2014 at 5:15 pm #424104
^^^You and me both, gdfl! Kind of makes me wish that I’d stuck with Mistresses a little longer, but I could only listen to them call Alyssa Milano’s character ‘Savi’ so many times. For some reason, I find the nickname unbearable.February 15, 2014 at 11:21 pm #424105
I just recently came to realize that GL alum Murray Bartlett (ex-Cyrus) is one of the stars of HBO’s (struggling) new show Looking, where he plays the older one in a group of gay friends. And he’s got a 70s pornstache and looks pretty amazing.April 14, 2014 at 4:04 pm #424106
I just saw today a commercial for the season finale of The Crazy Ones on CBS, guest starring Melody Thomas Scott! Should be fun!April 15, 2014 at 2:09 pm #424107
^^^ Ooh, now I’m gonna have to definitely tune in for the finale! I didn’t see that promo so thnx for the alert!
Btw, I tried to catch Murray Bartlett in one of the Looking episodes back when they aired and would’ve almost not recognized him had you not given us the earlier heads-up. Wow, what a complete 180 from his persona as Cyrus on GL! Good for him for taking on such a transformative role. And I hope the opportunities keep on coming for him as he’s a talent for sure.April 15, 2014 at 3:45 pm #424108
Yes, it was a very different look, and I almost didn’t recognize him either!December 13, 2014 at 5:56 am #424109
Julie Marie Berman (ex-Lulu, GH) was on the last episode of Jane the Virgin. And I read Jake Silbermann (ex-Noah, ATWT) was supposed to appear on Person of Interest. I don’t watch that show so I don’t know if it aired yet.December 14, 2014 at 6:29 am #424110

The Person of Interest episode, “Point of Origin,” was broadcast on [Tuesday,] November 18. He had a minor role. Perhaps you will be able to view on On Demand and/or CBS’ website.
