According to SOD, she is reprising her role as crazy Patty Williams.
This is a classic Pratt move, ie to bring another psycho female into the mix. I find myself always thinking and saying that I am enjoying Y&R, but it is not the style of show that I want to see. I think this will be similar in that Haiduk is a scene stealer, but the character more than overstayed her welcome last time, and there is a multitude of other directions to go with the Abbotts given that the last two big stories were with nutty-Kelly and supervillain-Marco. Actually, for that matter, I’d rather see Cady McClain back as Kelly for some proper closure to that mess than bringing back Patty.
Stacy Haiduk is a very good actress. However, the writer’s portrayal of Patty during her last run was a complete bastardization of her original character. The upcoming run is likely to be over-the-top and plot-driven, while maintaining the current rut for Jack Abbott. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t see this being a good story. It just seems like another example of clinging to the past rather than telling original, compelling stories.
I like Stacy Haiduk, but my feelings on the character coming back are similar. Chuck Pratt really loves his crazy women doesn’t he? Whatever becomes of Patty during this stint, Haiduk at least has the added bonus that a Y&R stint will make her look really appealing as a casting option for GH.
I haven’t fully become addicted to the soaps again yet. And this move is just not thrilling for me at all. We don’t need to recycle something from 09.
