Hey guys. I love the chatter and what not, but can we make this a thread where links to the official reels can be posted? I’ll edit this post as more links are posted. And in-fact, I’m cool with other potential episodes being posted. Like I know in Alison Sweeney’s Soap Central interview, she said she had debated between three episodes. I would post those at the bottom, but still post them nonetheless since I think that would be fun to watch. Or like Maura West, who I’ve read from a couple of posters didn’t submit her best, so post what she should have submitted. Etc. etc. etc.

    Confirmed DAYS Episodes:

    L. ACTRESS: Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctL4N6pIkxQ (Date: 04/21/14)
Sami is blindsided with the truth about EJ’s affair with Abby.  She proceeds to have a total emotional breakdown while confronting him about it.  She then visits Abby to confront her and ends up in a physical altercation, sending Abby tumbling over the staircase bannister in front of a horrified Jennifer & EJ.

    L. ACTRESS: Peggy McCay (Caroline, DAYS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db9tVR2BABE (Date: 04/03/14)
In front of friends and family, Brady matriarch Caroline (who suffers from Alzheimers) tells a heartbreaking story about two homosexual men who were in love and used to visit the Brady Pub bringing everyone to tears, as she salutes Will & Sonny at their wedding.

    Y. ACTRESS: Camila Banus (Gabi, DAYS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ7L0gwAJBA (Date: 06/02/14)
Wracked with guilt over Will trying to take the fall for her, Gabi admits to murdering Nick Fallon in cold blood.  She tearfully explains why and how she did it as she is taken into custody.

Still waiting to hear what Freddie Smith submitted for YOUNGER ACTOR and what DAYS submitted in Drama Series, Writing & Directing.

Just saw the younger actor reels on Pop online. Max Ehrich was good but i don’t think he had a lot to do. His character was dealing with the revelation that his father had cancer. With Bryan Craig I felt the performance was a little one note. It was ok but didn’t blow me away. It was probably dramatic enough for some voters to vote for him though. I thought Freddie Smith was just as good and as dramatic as Craig but he also did not blow me away. I think Smith is a very good actor but that is after seeing his performance over many years. Richmond impressed me probably because I’m the least familiar with him and I thought he had a nice natural acting style that was just dramatic enough. This is all very subjective and based only on the submission tapes. Probably either Smith or Craig will win since the scenes were dramatic enough.

With Bryan Craig his whole scene is spent arguing with his father. Maybe that’s why I felt it was a little one note. The scene was dramatic enough to secure a win. For me though after a while I felt like he kept saying but dad your not listening over and over again. I wanted to see something else. Maybe that has more to do with the writing then the performance. Some more range would be nice though.

RichardR: what did Freddie submit??? I’m unfamiliar with Pop online. I will try to find it, but it would be nice to know what the episode he submitted is…

I’m so curious about Chad Duell’s submission, and Finola Hughes too….

I hated Bryan Craig’s reel – oh brother! It is so one note and groveling to Sonny, who has most of the dialogue and it is much more his scene. I am so surprised he submitted this one when he could have submitted learning about Sonny and Ava’s crypt sex scene.

I love Freddie Smith, but his frustrated anger with Gabi wasn’t his best work. He was hamstrung I suppose by having to submit something from before March 19th. It’s a much better reel than Bryan Craig’s and Max Ehrich’s though.

Max Ehrich’s reel is extremely flat, unemotional (gawd, he learns his dad has cancer and this is all the emotion he can muster?) I think this is a terrible submission, the worst of the four. (and what on earth did Casey Moss submit that was worse than this? WTF?)

Tequan Richmond has by far the best reel. The most emotions, the best dialogue, and was the most interesting. Part of it that fascinates me is that it plays differently edited together than it does interrupted by other storylines on the actual episode. I am changing my prediction to T.J. for the win….

Yay reels!  Thanks for the link, OLTLfan!  I will surely be watching these over the weekend.

It always scares me a little when I watch a reel and wonder how on Earth this person got nominated over so-and-so with this reel.  It makes me feel like I’m not seeing the bigger picture, and I have to try to look at it differently.  In some cases there is just favoritism toward an actor or a show, but sometimes there really is something else, some other way of looking at it.  I mean, based on the descriptions, I would think Casey Moss had a half dozen episodes that would have gotten in over any of these except for Tequan Richmond’s.  I remember being impressed when I watched that performance.  I remember seeing Freddie Smith’s reel, but I don’t recall thinking all that much of it (other than also being frustrated with Gabi!).

Just finished watching the younger actress reels (: (thanks so much for the link!) Two of the submissions are superb and Emmy-worthy (equally) and one is very good and one is only so-so imo. I will say more on the other thread, like I did for Younger Actor. I am torn between Camila and Haley for the win, they are both SUPERB!!!!!! (:

Completely agree. Max Ehrich had to have gotten in based on the Y&R base; his reel was not anywhere near Emmy-worthy.

Freddie Smith overacts in his reel with the hand gestures. I just cannot get past those; they make it feel so unnatural and random.

Casey Moss could have easily taken one of those 2 spots…

Thanks OLTLfan for letting us know about the reels! (:

I didn’t notice Freddie’s hand gestures at all!

I was SO completely annoyed by Bryan Craig throughout his reel – “whiney”, “groveling”, “dullsville” – I honestly don’t get what I cosnider the overpraise for him??? he’s so hit or miss in his performances and imo not at all Emmy-worthy. (Max Ehrich somehow managed to be worse in his reel, lol!)

Now there are only 3 reels I don’t know what they submitted in the acting categories: Geary, Godfrey and Hughes! Can’t wait for the Supporting Actress reels! (:
