B&B and GH are the only shows I am watching regularly of the four remaining soaps. I watch a few scenes from Days & Y&R but can’t seem to watch whole episodes.
I enjoyed yesterday’s GH epi, esp. Maura West’s Ava. She just pulls me in towards her with her formidable acting talents. I am perversely on her side (!) somehow. I simply love this actress so much that I can forgive her characters everything!
Yes, there were annoying things yesterday. And I have to say: I recoil whenever Billy Miller’s Jason comes on to my t.v. screen. He just isn’t right at all in this particular role for me. I long for him to go back to Y&R; same with Michelle Stafford! (:
I find the show watchable and tolerable even though I have huge objections to the storytelling. Doesn’t make much sense but there it is!September 14, 2016 at 2:38 pm #1201922448
Really upset: am I correct in thinking they have killed off Sabrina, played brilliantly by Teresa Castillo? I get that she’s not connected by family or marriage to anyone on the canvas, and Patrick is gone from the show, but I so love her character and the actress too… it really upset me deeply today…. that’s how connected we become to characters on soaps!
otherwise, the show was suspenseful and well crafted today…September 14, 2016 at 5:04 pm #1201922553
I have not heard anything about Teresa Castillo leaving the show, so I am not sure; Sabrina certainly did appear to be dead at the end of the show. I too am hoping she is alive. I am a fan of both the actress and the character, even though the writers (past and present) made some lamentably bad choices regarding her characterization.
Late Breaking News: Tyler Christopher will not be returning to GH. Contract negotiations reached an impasse. I am sorry to see GH lose such a talented actor. However, I hope they do not recast. GH has too many characters as it is.September 14, 2016 at 6:10 pm #1201922584
That doesn’t surprise me about Tyler Christopher. I noticed his photo was missing from the credits last week. I guess this also likely means we won’t ever see Nicholas Bechtel again (and THAT is a huge shame!) but as far as a recast goes, I liked the guy they had filling in. He gave a solid interpretation and had excellent chemistry with Maura West.
I’m waiting for some confirmation about Castillo. In this day and age it seems impossible that that was kept a secret.September 15, 2016 at 1:03 am #1201922749
Update: Confirmation about Teresa Castillo. According to a new post by Fairman on Soaps, Castillo is indeed out.
This is just the type of decision that frustrates me. I was just thinking the other day how great it is that GH is engaging in “corrective characterization” by returning Sabrina to work at GH. Now they have completely undone this move by eliminating the character. At a time when they desperately need a shift toward the hospital, they kill off one of the few female characters working there. I can think of at least a dozen characters that I would ax before Sabrina. I am really beginning to think that GH is hopeless.
As for Nikolas, while I agree that Nick Stabile was very good, the character is not needed on the canvas. He is just another person who is not really connected to the hospital. Nicolas Bechtel can continue to air if they have Spencer staying with Laura.September 15, 2016 at 4:14 pm #1201923067
Late Breaking News: Bryan Craig has quit GH. Again, I can think of a dozen characters to ax before Morgan, but I wish the talented actor all the best. The writing for Morgan has been terrible for well over a year, and I can understand his desire to move on.
They should absolutely not recast. They should either focus on characters already on the canvas or consider this an opportunity to bring on new characters who are both GH staffers and members of either the Quartermaine, Webber, or Hardy families.September 16, 2016 at 3:23 am #1201923203
robbalto: a rare disagreement, I have loved Bryan Craig’s work and stories this past year or so! Surprised he is leaving. I expect him to win a 2nd Emmy in 2017 for his stellar work particularly the scenes when he was being committed into the psych ward and the scenes on the roof when he was going to jump during a manic episode.
So unhappy with their killing off Sabrina ): I saw this coming – she had no family ties, Patrick is gone, and she was with Michael, who has been the kiss of death for several female characters! I loved Sabrina and am sad to see her go – I loved her romance with Patrick most of all. I would much rather spend time with her than with Sonny, Julian, and all the mob stuff…
The show has been compulsively watchable lately. It’s not that I love the stories so much but the actors are selling it all for me.
I am dreading Julian’s acquittal. My guess is that they will bring Julian and Alexis back together ): I am dreading it.September 16, 2016 at 12:37 pm #1201923351
I haven’t been in touch with the four network soaps this year; I have had other things going.
I just came across General Hospital losing three cast members: 2015–16 Emmy winners Tyler Christopher and Bryan Craig as well as the excellent Teresa Castillo.
I question these days just how much of these types of developments are on the up-and-up. I think Craig’s decision was definitely his own—that, at his young age, he wants to move on. I think Christopher is trying to make another go at making it outside the daytime soaps. In Castillo’s case, I am more questioning. I cannot help but wonder if it is more about overall production costs—and, if so, decision on cutting a salary, writing out on an actor/character a soap figures it can afford to lose.

The farewell flashbacks for Sabrina were great. But unfortunately they drove home the point that she was a great character until the current writing team ruined her.
Perhaps the departure of Teresa Castillo was a cost-cutting measure. But it’s a bit much to cut her character while keeping the likes of Nina, Franco, etc. The more I think about this, the more annoyed I get. Once again the writers are decimating the hospital staff in favor of vapid no-career characters like Hayden.
Freeman, it’s good that we disagree now and then! I have been an advocate of Bryan Craig since he started on GH. I still think his work is great; I just have not enjoyed the writing for his character. It was a lot more fun when he was sleeping with Ava and fighting with Sonny.September 19, 2016 at 12:38 am #1201924732
It’s too bad for GH that they’re losing Tyler Christopher and Bryan Craig, but in some ways maybe it isn’t, if they don’t recast. Both were cases for me where strong acting was making poorly written characters tolerable to some degree. This was especially true for me with TC, where I was kind of done with Nikolas once is started being a villain for no reason, but I thought TC made him someone you could care about. I’ve generally felt Bryan Craig is overrated since his start on GH, but in the last year I think he’s done a stellar job with his material, though I have zero use for Morgan at this point.September 20, 2016 at 3:58 pm #1201925632
Olivia: “You’re guilty you son of a bitch! And everyone knows it!” LOL. I love Lisa LoCicero.
It seems like they are building up to Julian’s murder (or attempted murder).
I hope they give Morgan a positive sendoff. Say that he is going away to college.September 21, 2016 at 6:52 am #1201925831
Yeah the way this is going, Ava’s scheme works and he winds up back in the clinic, possibly catatonic.September 23, 2016 at 1:34 am #1201926549
I liked how today’s final scene between Morgan and Kiki was directed with all the askew angles. It helped heighten the sense that Morgan is going out of control.September 26, 2016 at 4:59 pm #1201927845
Even though I’m not a fan of the writing and some of the story, Nancy Lee Grahn has been crushing it this year. We could end up with a Best Actress field where any of the nominees would be very worthy.September 26, 2016 at 5:27 pm #1201927852
I definitely agree about Nancy Lee Grahn. She has been front and center, with a lot of good material. And she has more than delivered. But this drinking business… is this going to become a thing for her? I do not like that idea.
Also looking forward to the returns of Finola Hughes and Genie Francis.
Since the return of Nikolas fell through, I’m assuming that the writers are scrambling rewriting story for the impacted characters.
GH, please do not recast Morgan. Give the character a rest, please.
