I essentially concur. But I’d like the recast of Nikolas to have the opportunity since he was excellent and he and Maura had unexpected but very very strong chemistry. That’s worth playing out.September 27, 2016 at 4:07 pm #1201928362
I am totally blanking out on the name of the actor who plays Paul? He was quite good today and has been generally excellent throughout his time on the show. btw, I was a bit distracted: Tracy overheard how much of what paul was saying to the girl in the room (I think his daughter?)?
I love Heather’s visits (: Robin and Roger have tremendous chemistry together. Her nuttiness is always fun (:
Nancy Lee Grahn has been so superb but my problem is similar to the one I have on Y&R with Victor and Nikki – I don’t want Julian and Alexis together but it’s so clear that TPTB (and the actors as well methinks) want them together. I find it tiresome. It makes strong women like Alexis come across as weak and stupid.
What was the name of the actor who replaced Tyler Christopher as Nicholas? I will consider him for Goldies recognition, along with Robin Mattson, Paul Telfer, Elizabeth Bogush, and a few others…
I find the show watchable if not essential.September 28, 2016 at 11:26 am #1201928677
The actor’s name is Richard Burgi (ex Karl on Desperate Housewives). He did a fantastic job despite his story being completely ridiculous.October 8, 2016 at 1:10 am #1201933245
Oh shit….October 8, 2016 at 3:51 am #1201933275
So are they killing off Morgan or replacing the actor? I was saying just the other day I thought they would kill off Morgan and now they have blown him up… I haven’t read any spoilers so IDK. Emmy-reels will be gleaned from whichever storyline they do.
This show is saved by its actors. The stories are repetitive and they focus on the wrong characters. They want us to root for the bad guys (I do with Ava but that’s because of Maura) and dump on the good guys. They keep characters together that do not belong together. Nobody ever pays for their crime unless they are good guys who do something wrong one time. I am havign a hard time forgiving them for killing off Sabrina.
I was thinking the other day how much I wish they would give a big love story to Ava. Cast Scot DeFreitas as a G-man out to get her and have them fall in love! (i’ve been watching some Carly episodes of ATWT and nostalgic for Carjax!)….
Yet I am hooked by the actors, who are almost all superb.October 8, 2016 at 11:49 am #1201933332
I wish they’d bring back that actor that subbed for Nikolas this summer if not as Nikolas then as another character because he had amazing chemistry with Maura.October 8, 2016 at 3:38 pm #1201933367
Nick Stabile did have a nice chemistry with Maura West. But I feel like the show needs to invest in a younger set of doctors. I would like to see them bring on at least three new front-burner actors: one to play a young Quartermaine doctor who is Jimmy Lee’s son; one to play a young female doctor; and a third to play Dr. Tom Hardy Jr. If they brought on these three characters and eliminated some of the non-GH characters, the show would feel much more appropriately balanced. I hope they do not recast Morgan. At this point, TPTB should see almost any actor leaving the show as an opportunity to cut down on the non-GH characters.October 11, 2016 at 3:59 pm #1201934320
Today, GH finally took a significant step toward being a better show.
What I think happened: Maura tampered with Morgan’s medication, causing him to spiral downward and eventually steal Julian’s car. Meanwhile, Sonny arranged for a bomb to be planted in Sonny’s car. Unfortunately for Sonny, the bomb intended for Julian instead killed Sonny’s own son, Morgan.
I only say that “I think” this happened because I do not fully trust the writers. Also, I read that Bryan Craig would air into November. However, if this is for real, then I say, well done. This is good writing.October 12, 2016 at 7:40 am #1201934540
Craig could be doing one of those “Ghost Morgan” appearances as his friends and family grieve.October 12, 2016 at 9:43 am #1201934600
Mixed about yesterday’s episode – LOVED Maura’s performance but could have lived without all of Franco’s scenes with Liz and Sam, and I just plain can’t stand Sonny. Sonny is to blame – he killed his son (if he really is dead; this is a soap). Ava is also partly to blame too. I have a gut feeling they will split up Sonny and Carly (yay!) but bring together Sonny and Ava.October 12, 2016 at 4:13 pm #1201934738
Today’s episode was very good. The fallout from Morgan’s death begins. So many good scenes today. I did not care much for the writing of the early scenes where Carly was in denial. But the rest of her scenes were great: the discussion with Dante and especially the confrontation with Sonny. Also, I enjoyed Michael’s confrontation with Sonny and Tracy yelling at Jason. Great work from Laura Wright, Hayley Erin, Chad Duell, and Maura West. (It’s a shame that, with all the drama, Billy Miller still does not have any worthwhile material.)
Tennisfreak, I was thinking the same thought; maybe Morgan will appear as a ghost or in flashbacks until November.
I have been hard on GH, and for good reason. Is it possible they are really listening after all? This was a great story move; I hope they do not undo it with a bogus vindication.October 12, 2016 at 4:19 pm #1201934741
robbalto, they always ruin everything with bogus vindications ): This is a show that never holds its villains accountable, only it’s heroes and heroines ): but I concur with you, this was a terrific episode (and I agree: the early scene of Carly didn’t work, but her later scenes made up for it). I was glad that Carly has put the pieces together and realizes that Sonny is responsible. The lack of guilt on his part is amazing! he is such a sociopath!
So many terrific performances in one episode!October 17, 2016 at 1:55 pm #1201936075
I was very disappointed by today’s episode ): The writing was ridiculous; the way this show protects the character of Sonny is nauseating. I particularly did not like Billy Miller’s perf. as Jason. I find him completely annoying in this role.
We all know that Morgan isn’t dead and Sonny will get off the hook yet again. (even though planting a bomb, regardless if he called it off, is a crime for which he should be punished).
Nelle’s story is going to be an All About Eve story…October 17, 2016 at 4:31 pm #1201936133
The writing was off today for the Jason and Carly scenes. Jason was pushing her to go home to Sonny, and that seemed out of character to me. Given my understanding of their relationship, Jason would have just listened without telling her what to do. Aside from that, the writers have been unsuccessful with the writing of Jason since Billy Miller started in the role. For some inexplicable reason, they want to write Miller as Jason Morgan, and it just isn’t working. The only way to salvage the character is have him reclaim his Quartermaine identity, an idea that I and many others have advocated for since Miller started on GH.
Chloe Lanier is impressive as Nelle, but I am dubious as to where the writers are going with her character. I think it would be a big mistake to make her an “Eve” type character. She is a very good actress with long-term potential and the writers need to plan accordingly; that means sending her to med school or at least nursing school.
I pretty much have to fast-forward scenes with Franco. TPTB made a huge mistake reviving the character. It doesn’t matter how much they try to redeem him. It just isn’t working.
If they go with a vindication solution, the current story will be completely ruined. I think that might be the final straw for me.October 19, 2016 at 9:03 am #1201936793
I watched through Monday’s through Thursday’s episodes from last week, and mostly it confirmed that this show is really not for me right now. While there were some good things — Maura West on Tuesday, Laura Wright at the very end of Tuesday and the second half of Wednesday, Dominic Zamprogna’s subtle work throughout — there was just a lot I wasn’t taken with in the Morgan story and the rest of the show. I think those Carly denial scenes last Wednesday could have been effective, but the scripting and then the way they were played was so straightforward that it didn’t work. The Morgan story really lost its momentum on Thursday, when it was mostly scenes of Michael, Kiki and Dante blaming themselves for what happened, which is really not interesting at all, even if it’s well acted. Hayley Erin really has improved tremendously, though.
The compulsion of so many characters to protect Sonny is baffling at this point. I’m not saying everyone should be gunning for him necessarily, but at some point it must be considered that him being locked up is best for his loved ones, right? And Billy Miller’s Jason is an epic disappointment. It was a problem that Jake Doe walked around for so long not knowing who he was or having his memories, but at least then Jake was fairly likable and had a spark to him that Jason does not. Playing the old Jason Morgan just runs against all of BM’s natural charm and strengths, and his Jason doesn’t have that same familial feel with Sonny, Carly and Michael that Steve Burton’s did. I kind of want to send BM’s Jason along with Gina Tognoni’s Phyllis and Jason Thompson’s Billy to the Island of Misfit Recasts.
I’ll probably watch at least some of the next few episodes to see where else it goes. It was nice seeing a few of the characters I like for a little while, Hayden, Jordan, Tracy, Ned, Olivia, even Nina. And I’m pretty intrigued by Nell. I definitely got the All About Eve vibe from her as well watching her with Carly. But I agree, Chloe Lanier is great, so they shouldn’t waste her.
