While Maura’s acting performances have been her usual level of outstanding, I miss seeing her without the bandages and wish to see her again completely healed. I must admit: during the mirror scene today I started to sing “The Phantom Of The Opera is there inside my mind” (;
I don’t enjoy seeing Spencer in jeopardy.
I don’t enjoy hearing Sonny and Carly and lately I have been hitting the mute button since I find them so completely irritating.
I miss too many characters to count, who only do occasional guest appearances, while they waste show after show on characters I don’t care about at all.
When is Kirsten Storms returning to the show?July 20, 2017 at 5:34 am #1202159456
The Julexis scenes were great yesterday because it gave two talented actors with strong chemistry something juicy to play. But I really hate the direction they’re taking this couple in. They’re turning Julexis into Carson and Jasam. I don’t need Alexis to be as weak, desperate and pathetic as Sam and Carly have been over those men. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see a woman walk away from the abusive prick destroying her life on this show instead of making excuses for him and going back to him again and again?July 20, 2017 at 9:35 am #1202159659
Kristen Storms returns next week Freeman! Please God, let’s hope this means the death of Man Landers! William DeVry may also well be on the way out as he hasn’t agreed to a new contract afaik.July 20, 2017 at 9:40 am #1202159662
I get that the actors enjoy working together but I so want to see a permanent end to Julian and Alexis. I want Alexis to be a strong fierce woman, not a doormat. The actors are superb and acting is the ONLY reason I bother watching GH anymore.
Glad to hear Kristen is returning to the show as Maxie.July 22, 2017 at 7:49 pm #1202162098
Friday’s episode was a pretty good episode. Maura West, Kelly Monaco and Genie Francis are doing great work with the material they are being given. Maura West is one of the frontrunners for Lead Actress, while Genie Francis is making a case for Supporting Actress. Meanwhile Kelly Monaco will probably do better next week as her storyline continues to build.August 1, 2017 at 10:29 am #1202171583
It’s been announced that breakdown writer Chris Van Etten will be promoted to co-head writer in the wake of Jean Passanante’s recent retirement. http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/gh-names-new-co-head-writer/August 4, 2017 at 11:50 am #1202174735
I am so disappointed ): Looks like Nicholas Bechtel is leaving the show again ): I was hoping he was staying for good and not just for a guest visit… Boo!
Nothing much else is exciting me on this boring show right now ):August 10, 2017 at 6:21 pm #1202181668
About the only thing that would pique my interest is if Steve Burton returned as a fully-restored Jason Quartermaine. But I’m sure that will not happen. It will be just another missed opportunity to add to an astonishingly long list of missed opportunities for the character of Jason. The show has lived in the moment for the last 20 years — no long-term planning and no regard for the long-term consequences of storytelling choices.
From my perspective, GH needs to clean house. Keep only characters who:
1. Are staff members of GH
2. Have been on the show 30 years or longer
Pretty much everyone else can go and make room for a new generation of doctors, nurses, and other staff members.
But I imagine GH will continue to tell tired stories of unlikable criminals who are beyond the law, thus perpetuating a serial devoid of family, devoid of integrity, and devoid of heart.August 10, 2017 at 6:37 pm #1202181686
Just like Josslyn telling Carly the truth about her addictive sick relationship with Sonny, Kristina and Molly tell the truth to Alexis about her addictive sick relationship with Julian (sigh). I wish the shows would listen to the daughters! (;
The reason I stick with this show is entirely due to the wonderful acting ensemble – and also, of course, that there are only 4 daytime soaps left (at least on national television).
I would love it if GH returned to being a show about a hospital and its staff (:
Maura has been sensational, as usual – I wish they would give her a love interest and cast Scott De Freitas in the role (;August 16, 2017 at 9:41 am #1202186907
My wish may have come true and I love it: Ava and… Griffin??? I have been wanting a big romance for Ava, because Maura is magical and can act it – I loved her humor in her scenes yesterday! I hope they really do head in this direction with these two characters!August 17, 2017 at 7:22 pm #1202188183
Robert Palmer Watkins has been let go from “General Hospital.”
My take: this is yet another lost opportunity. He is a good actor who was saddled with poor material. They should have brought back Dillon as a doctor, not a filmmaker. Watkins has great chemistry with Hayley Erin, and portrays one of the few remaining Quartermaines. Although I believe that GH needs to make some changes, this is not where I would have started.
The story is reported on Daytime Confidential. http://www.daytimeconfidential.com/2017/08/17/robert-palmer-watkins-out-at-general-hospital
One of my favorite comments on DC:
“Dear ABC: Please Just rename ‘General Hospital’ to ‘The Sonny Show’ for now so when it’s inevitably cancelled, ‘General Hospital’ can return in its its spot. Thank you.” (ctshar)August 18, 2017 at 8:31 am #1202188574
At the very least this is such a waste of an appealing actor in favor of what I imagine was reupping the contracts for Howarth and DeVry whose characters have just run their course years ago. I’ve stopped making it a point to keep up every day. Maybe if I’m off work or I know something big is coming.August 18, 2017 at 9:23 am #1202188616
It is a shame they let go of Robert Palmer Watkins, and it’s really just another indication of how messed up their priorities are over there.August 18, 2017 at 4:27 pm #1202188915
When I read the various soap message boards, I see a lot of anger and frustration expressed from soap fans when discussing GH. The comments are overwhelmingly negative. I have not seen this kind of frenzy since the tanking of Guiding Light and All My Children. And yet TPTB just continue to completely ignore this feedback and churn out… well, what they churn out. It seems like the other soaps are fighting the good fight, working hard to turn things around. But I just don’t see any evidence of this at GH. It’s very puzzling. I suppose one might argue that bringing back Steve Burton is an attempt to save the show, but to me it just confirms the show’s unwillingness to move forward.August 24, 2017 at 6:09 pm #1202194370
Interesting interview with Hayley Erin on Fairman on Soaps. Some of the highlights:
“I can’t talk … I get all choked up. It’s not fun for any of us. I love us together on and off camera.”
“I am devastated. We really had a good thing going.”
There is some discussion in the article about Kiki reconnecting with Michael. The problem is that Hayley has zero chemistry with Chad Duell, just as she had zero chemistry with Bryan Craig. Conversely, her chemistry with Robert Palmer Watkins is very strong; you just cannot manufacture that kind of connection.
