The long absences of characters is really irksome on B&B. Then they overplay the dullest performers endlessly ):
Are Obba B and Anna Maria H still on this show or are they gone permanently? How about Deacon? Felicia? Caroline?
I am annoyed with where they have gone with Quinn, but I expected it ):
Glossy and enjoyable but I enjoyed the show so much more in 2016, when it was focused on Quinn’s redemption.May 2, 2017 at 9:12 am #1202082542
I’m more than a week behind now on B&B — I mostly blame Katie, who is generally kind of the worst but now that she’s doing this whole blackmail thing is even worse than usual. Some characters really flourish when they start to show a darker or bitchier side, but I don’t think it’s a good look for Katie/Heather Tom.
Anyway, I think Courtney Hope has done a great job with the scenes surrounding the fallout from the fashion show, in Sally’s scenes with Thomas, Steffy, Shirley and Coco. Shirley’s continued insistence that her granddaughters aren’t good enough to be anything other than thieves and would have eventually been dumped has become really bothersome, though.May 7, 2017 at 12:40 am #1202086203
What is this, a Dickens novel? Forrester Creations is employing children and calling it a youth program? And the red-haired boy is named Ging? LOLOL.May 10, 2017 at 4:28 pm #1202089466
Sounds like Linsey Godfrey is not expecting Caroline to be back on screen any time in the near future, if ever. From SOD:
Linsey Godfrey, who hasn’t been seen on B&B since October 2016, reveals that she has no upcoming dates scheduled with the soap. “It’s with a heavy heart that I say Caroline isn’t coming back in the near future,” Godfrey reveals. “I really enjoyed my time over at BOLD, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that being on the show gave me, and for the family that I made over there, and they will always be my family. I’m grateful for the time that I got to play Caroline.” The actress appreciates the response she’s gotten from viewers, who have been curious about her status with the show. “I want to thank everybody that’s been a fan of mine and I hope that everybody will continue to support me. I appreciate everybody’s patience in waiting to find out what’s going on. I hope to have everybody’s continued support.” Godfrey describes her four-and-a-half years on B&B as “a beautiful time for me. I made one of my best friends in the whole entire world in Kim Matula [ex-Hope], and I met my child’s father [Robert Adamson, Noah, Y&R] because I worked across the hall from him and now I have an amazing baby and he is one of my best friends in the whole world. BOLD was such an amazing experience. I got to go to work with people who I really, really loved and who I really, really admired and got to do what I love to do. I was really proud of the work we did, and I was really proud of the stories that we told. I look back at BOLD with a lot of love and a lot of happiness and a lot of feelings of gratitude. I was just super-happy.” For now, Godfrey is busy auditioning and looking for her next project. “I’m excited to see where my career takes me,” she smiles.May 14, 2017 at 7:47 pm #1202093058
EmmyLoser, thank you for the update on Linsey Godfrey. I am somewhat surprised as she is very talented, but I guess they can accommodate only so many actors on contract at once.
I have to say, I am still really enjoying B&B far more than the other shows. It’s fun and engaging, without all the filler and dead wood that drags down the other soaps.
Lately, I have especially liked the Spectra story. Courtney Hope, Patrika Darbo, Mick Cain, Courtney Grosbeck, Alex Wyse, Anthony Turpel, Danube Hermosillo… I am enjoying them all so much.
They seem to be giving a rest to the Ridge/Quinn story, which I think is wise. Speaking of that story, Katie has become insanely smarmy as of late.May 15, 2017 at 9:50 pm #1202094116
LOL, insanely smarmy is right.
I agree, it’s good that the show is giving the Quinn/Ridge stuff a break. I’d still like them to maneuver out of this, but they’ve begun talking a little like a full-on Quinn/Ridge pairing ins inevitable.
In the meanwhile, the Spectra story has been mostly good. There are little things that drive me a bit crazy — Shirley’s incessant insistence that her granddaughters aren’t good enough to hang with the Forresters, Steffy and Ridge saying repeatedly that no one wants Sally to go to jail as they continue to insist that she must and to hell with Thomas or Coco or whoever getting hurt in the process — but overall they’ve done a good job of keeping the quality up.May 25, 2017 at 3:30 pm #1202102564
How about that! Very shortly after our talk about Linsey Godfrey having no upcoming B&B appearances, SOD announces a return. Caroline will be back on for a few episodes:
Linsey Godfrey, who reported back to work today as B&B’s Caroline, admits that she wasn’t expecting to get the call to return to the soap. No sooner than the actress, who had last been seen on screen in October 2016, announced to Digest that she had no future dates scheduled for the soap, she got an email to come back. “It was such a shock and such a pleasant surprise, but I definitely didn’t anticipate it,” Godfrey admits. She says was thrilled to walk back on set. “It was great,” Godfrey enthuses. “B&B is always my home and they’re always my family, so it just felt really good to see people who I haven’t seen in a while because they’re working and life is hectic and I live pretty far away from everybody.” Godfrey received overwhelming support from her co-stars on day one. “I was in John McCook’s [Eric] room and he had left me a note, which was really sweet, saying that he was happy I was back and was getting his room,” she shares. “It was good to see Thorsten [Kaye, Ridge] and Rena [Sofer, Quinn] and all the people that I keep in touch with. I got a text from Heather Tom [Katie] and people who weren’t on set that saw that I was on set, so it was really, really so lovely. Not that I don’t think they don’t love me, but it was so unexpected that everybody was so pleased and excited. It felt so nice. I’m so sensitive lately that I feel I might cry about everything [laughs].” Godfrey reveals that she had some jitters before filming. “It was super-nerve-wracking. It felt like my first time all over again. Suddenly, I was like, ‘Whoa.’ I forget how many people are on a soap stage. It felt so new and it was exciting in that way, too, because it was kind of like starting over again.” Expect to see Caroline back for a few episodes. “At the end of the day, even if it was just for one episode, I would be so happy and so grateful and so exited that I just got to come in and see everybody and work with them again,” she reflects. “It’s one thing to come in and visit, but to get to play with them, that felt really great. I’m very excited that it happened to be more than one.” She is also grateful for the positive fan feedback that she’s gotten. “I just say thank you to the fans who stuck by me and were so supportive. I hope they’re super-excited about me coming back and to let everybody know!”June 1, 2017 at 4:18 am #1202107847
I have been having very mixed feelings about B&B lately. The Spectras are fun but the show is back to being a “guilty pleasure” rather than a beloved soap. Last year, Rena Sofer’s Quinn kept me enthralled (until they paired her with Thorsten Kaye’s Ridge). This year I am feeling I can take the show or leave it. I love the visual look of the show.
Where is Wyatt? Can’t they create a strong story for him where he is not competing with the insufferable Liam?
Why can’t they bring back Felicia?
I find Katie completely annoying! Simply cant’ stand the sight of her!June 5, 2017 at 2:19 pm #1202111662
Yeah, I’m not finding B&B anywhere near as enjoyable as I was this time last year. I’m always at least a week behind, and usually just end up running through four or five episodes at once while working on my computer. I do like the Spectras and really like the pairing of Thomas with Sally. I’m also glad the show has started giving the Avants more of a story and that we finally saw Vivienne and Julius again. That said, the story with Nicole’s likely infertility feels so cruel. I guess this is the stuff that soapy drama is made of, but I don’t love the territory in this case. The feeling of inevitability surrounding Quinn and Ridge is also not helpful at all. And Katie is the worst. It’s interesting that Heather Tom is such a talented actress, but not only is Katie (IMO) generally unlikable but Katie going this bad girl route, usually the easiest way to a soap actress to become fun to watch, is actually making it worse.June 11, 2017 at 5:29 pm #1202117603
Wow, that twist at the end of Friday’s episode! They are pulling out all the stops at B&B. I hope this latest one helps the ratings. I’m still enjoying B&B the most of the four soaps.June 11, 2017 at 10:33 pm #1202117853
That was quite a development indeed!
After seeing that something big happened in Friday’s episode, I successfully avoided any media spoilers and started plowing through the 10 episodes I had. But I only got about halfway through before a friend texted me a question about it. Knowing the basic headline made watching it even more interesting, actually, as I jumped to an immediate conclusion that appears to have been wrong. (I’m being cryptic, I know, just don’t want to spoil it for anyone.) I’m really excited to see what happens here, though, any maybe it’s enough to push that story back into the enjoyable realm for me.
The hard thing about B&B is that the show basically only runs three stories at a time, and I only like one of them at the moment.June 19, 2017 at 9:17 am #1202125971
I meant to say this before, but I absolutely loved Eric’s reaction to Katie’s jewelry designs. I could tell before how much of Quinn’s criticism was influenced by her dislike for Katie, but it turns out she was being a lot kinder about it than Eric ended up being.
In terms of this week, it was pretty fun and interesting, and I liked the focused arc of someone shooting at Quinn and just playing that out without really featuring any of the other stories. It’s nice to be getting a lot of Quinn time again, and I’m happy to get a break from the stress and anxiety of the story with the Avants right now. But of course the problem is that they’re taking the Quinn/Ridge stuff further and further, which I just can’t stand. It was great seeing Deacon again.June 29, 2017 at 9:50 am #1202136694
I found the Avant story overdone the past 2 days; I didn’t connect with it the way I thought I would.
Can they please please please give Wyatt a storyline that is not infected by Liam? (Can Liam simply disappear and never return? I can’t believe the dopes on the blue ribbon panel for Best Actor gave the award to him, it was a travesty!)July 5, 2017 at 9:41 am #1202142468
I’m just glad they’ve resolved this part of the story where Nicole is considering trying to take Lizzie from Maya and Rick. The way is resolved itself was fine, and it was nice I guess to pivot a little have Maya put the choice totally into Nicole’s hands, but it all felt very melodramatic, and Julius especially just seemed ridiculous.
If the recent scenes with Katie and Wyatt are an attempt to consider pairing those two up, I’d have to vote against it. Actually, ideally, Katie and Liam could be paired together and neither would get much screentime, but that’s not in the cards, of course. I also love how when Quinn wanting to give Katie a different job rather than firing her, Eric was totally against it because there wasn’t a job for her, but then like two days later he turns around and hands her this marketing job, which has clearly been available since Wyatt left the company months ago. It’s also funny that Katie is getting so much praise for what a great job she’s doing, when literally all she’s done is have one good idea.July 5, 2017 at 12:57 pm #1202142622
I am a few days behind on B&B. One aspect of the show that I find interesting is the return of Sheila. Kimberlin Brown is doing a great job! This also marks a shift away from the Katie-Quinn conflict, which was not working very well.
EmmyLoser: “If the recent scenes with Katie and Wyatt are an attempt to consider pairing those two up, I’d have to vote against it.” Agreed!
Freeman: “Can they please please please give Wyatt a storyline?” Agreed, although I do not have an issue with Liam. I think Scott Clifton and Darin Brooks work well together. But I would like more screen time for Brooks.
Based on EmmyLoser’s comments, I have revised the scripting for B&B:
Wyatt: Katie’s ideas are really good!
Eric: Katie, you are doing such a great job!
Reporter: Steffy, your ideas are inspired.
Steffy: Yes, actually this was Katie Logan’s Brainchild. She —
(Steffy is interrupted as EmmyLoser pushes her aside and speaks to the reporter while looking askance at Katie.)
EmmyLoser: It’s funny that Katie is getting so much praise for what a great job she’s doing, when literally all she’s done is have one good idea.
(Cut to commercial.)
