The only thing I thought of about Abe is that perhaps he is working undercover? Otherwise, it makes no sense… Raines is an expendable character so it makes sense, plus we did one of the other major characters to be in charge of the police force in Salem… I’ve noticed certain shows are total gems and other shows don’t send me at all. I think the reason I don’t care for Kayla is because I don’t enjoy Steve at all so i feel an alienation with all their scenes. I do like Tripp but am not sure where they can go with his character from here… When are Sami, Kristen, Will (please please please) and Vivian returning to the canvas? Good times are-a comin’!!!! (:

After watching yesterday’s episode, I agree that Abe is working with Eli to set up Lt. Raines.

That leaves us with the murder mystery. Since Ari Zucker is leaving anyway, will it turn out to be her? Eric is acting rather shady, but I do not think it’s him. I could, however, see him protecting Nicole.

But who knows… James Lastovic is leaving the show, and they managed to keep it under wraps until now.

One of the benefits of the doppelgänger story is double the airtime for Deidre Hall and Judi Evans. I enjoyed watching the contrasting scenes of Bonnie and Adrienne. I am also happy that Bryan Datillo is getting more material and screen time.

Today’s scenes with Angelique and Bonnie were funny. I laughed at Angelique’s incessant annoyance.

    The Schedule of Returns:
    September: Chandler Massey
    October: Kassie Depaiva, Alison Sweeney
    November: Eileen Davidson
    December: Brandon Beemer, Martha Madison
    January: Tyler Christopher, Louise Sorel

thanks for the schedule of returns, robbalto!!! (: SEPTEMBER!!! (: Most of these returns make me incredibly happy! (:

Adrienne and Marlena should both insist on having their fingerprints checked and DNA for that matter. Nowadays there is definite proof that can be ascertained. But this is a soap so I might as well just enjoy it..

I think Hope must be in on it too because the Hope I have gotten to know over the years would have been fighting for her friend Abe tooth and nail.

The show is so much more fun! I dreaded watching for months on end but now I so look forward to it!

That’s probably why they didn’t show us the scene where Eli convinces Hope and Rafe to arrest Abe. This must be a sting to get Raines to let his guard down so they can catch him red-handed. There’s no way Abe would actually work with Dario.

Yeah, I agree that Abe can’t possibly be the real culprit here, and him working with Eli to set up Raines is a much nicer story than what I was thinking, that Eli decided to use Abe, Hope, Rafe and whoever else as unwitting accomplices in his plan to flush out Raines, who would turn out to be the true counterfeiter. And maybe also the murderer.

It’s been a fun couple of episodes. Both Bonnie and Hattie are cracking me up. The look on Judi Evans’ face when Bonnie had Lucas describe their last time together was priceless. I also liked seeing Bonnie’s contrast with Adrienne, and the Adrienne side of this story is actually much more logical than Marlena being stuck in Bayview. It is totally believable that Bonnie’s been making up story after story in prison, and that Adrienne’s pleas of innocence would not only be falling on deaf ears but also be getting her into trouble. Marlena, on the other hand, should probably be more capable of convincing the people around her that the woman who wheeled her into the facility, sedated and slumped in a wheelchair, had drugged and is now impersonating her. But I don’t mind. And Roman is hilariously clueless.

Also, I have to say, after being down on Steve for a couple of years now, I’ve grown to appreciate him much more over the last few months and especially in his handling of the situation with Joey and Tripp. I generally enjoy scenes with him and Kayla now. I really want them to be together and happy.

I tried to watch the Monday episode online but had trouble viewing it ): That particular pre-emption was especially obnoxious due to Sonny’s proposal and Nicole’s memory about Deimos about to be revealed. I still don’t know what actually happened with the latter revelation!

Looking forward to what comes next!

    From today’s episode…

Kate: “Gabi is an amazing woman.”

    Chad: “So is Abigail.”

Kate: “Yes, if you like that damsel-in-stress type.”

Chad: “Ok, you know what, she saved me. She’s done it plenty of times.”

EmmyLoser, this conversation reminded me of our posts from a few weeks ago.

robbalto: “Abigail is such the damsel in distress.” (July 31 post)

EmmyLoser: “She’s only in trouble because she was saving Chad. I actually see her as playing the hero here to Chad.” (August 1 post)

Freeman, Nicole remembered killing Deimos. They basically recreated the scene in fragments. Brady convinced Nicole to keep it a secret.

Great scene today between Lucas and Kate. I love that both characters are getting both comedic and dramatic material. And I am just loving the scenes with Bonnie struggling through her interactions with Justin and Sonny.

I’m very excited for all of them besides Christopher, who I know was on GH but nothing else about him, and Beemer and Madison, they always just make me miss the days with Cook and Storms. Sami, Eve, Kristen, and Vivian all returning with in a few months of each other should be a lot of fun.

Haha, robbalto, I love that the essence of our conversations are now getting onto the shows without us even rewriting the scripts!

So we were all right about Dario’s accomplice, but none of my theories on Demios’s murder turned out to be correct. That’s fine, as I think Nicole being the murderer works fine, especially under the circumstances. I think that they brought in Deimos having that judge deny Nicole custody, which I remember thinking (and maybe posting) at the time that he was obviously behind.

Deidre Hall’s been so much fun as Hattie (and Marlena), but Judi Evans is just doing some incredible work here. I think the differences in Adrienne’s relationships with those around her, and the greater ripple effects of Bonnie’s actions while pretending to be her, have just provided some really rich nuance and subtlety for Evans to play, and she’s absolutely killing it. It also helps that Bonnie seems like a much craftier character than Hattie, who is generally presented as an occasionally effective, well-meaning buffoon.

I’ve been waiting for Anne to swoop in and pick up the pieces of Lucas’s broken heart!

So Ron Carlivati has said that he changed the murderer, which means that he decided to make Nicole the murderer ): I don’t like this denouement at all. For one thing, I want Nicole to go off with Holly and if AZ decides to return to the show, no problem. I have increased fears that Greg Vaughan is a goner and Eric will leave with Nicole ): This I also don’t like. (I would be fine with Brady going off with Nicole, however).

So Lucas won’t remember that he realized that it wasn’t Adrienne in bed with him.

I was truly surprised that John is in a straitjacket in the mental hospital with Marlena. Soaps hardly ever surprise me yet this turn of events has done so. It does make me think this story won’t last all that long. Won’t people look for and eventually find John and therefore Marlena? I suppose Angelique could move the two of them elsewhere? Well, tune in tomorow I suppose! (:

I truly want Will to come back and for it to be that he never slept with Paul and was never unfaithful to Sonny. Correct me if I am wrong but he didn’t start behaving badly until after Guy Wilson took over the role, after Will went off to L.A. for the writer’s conference (I think that’s what it was for). I love the idea of a triangle where we love all 3 characters! But for me it’s WILLSON all the way!!!! (:

    Victor and Brady had a great conversation today. John Aniston is so good at snark! (;

We had a local “breaking news” story that meant I missed 15 minutes in the middle of the show today ):

Freeman: “I have increased fears that Greg Vaughan is a goner and Eric will leave with Nicole.”

I am not getting that vibe. It seems to me that Nicole will eventually be found guilty and go to jail. I do not see her getting a happy ending with Eric.

Freeman: “We had a local “breaking news” story that meant I missed 15 minutes in the middle of the show today.”

There are so many interruptions now on both the local and national levels!

Freeman: “I truly want Will to come back and for it to be that he never slept with Paul and was never unfaithful to Sonny.”

I really haven’t given the story much thought, but we are getting close now! It will be interesting to see how they explain this.

This show has been surprising me! I had no idea they would kill off Angelique! Now that their ringleader is gone Bonnie and Hattie are on their own to wreak havoc in Salem! Bravo, Days, for having a great cliffhanger on a Friday afternoon! (: I enjoyed Morgan Fairchild but do wish they had lured Jane Elliot to play the role as one last hurrah…

Fingerprints and DNA would free both Marlena and Adrienne. I have to keep remembering this is a soap so logic has to fly out the window!

Poor Lucas! After sleeping with Bonnie, he will wake up to find Angelique dead! That’s of course assuming that she really is dead.

Poor Paul! He is about to marry Sonny, not knowing that Will is about to return! That’s of course assuming that Chandler will be playing Will.

And I guess we could also say poor Gabi, poor Marlena, poor John, etc.

    Fun Friday episode!

Update: Soap Opera Network confirms that Morgan Fairchild’s run has ended.

I am disappointed that we are seeing so little of Suzanne Rogers.

Suzanne Rogers will be on today’s episode (:

This is an aside, but I was watching a 1986 re-broadcast of a 1981 episode of The Edge of Night and there was a commercial for Soap Opera Digest; she (Victoria Wyndham) mentions that there were 19 soaps on the air. I can only count 13 daytime and 4 prime-time soaps: (daytime) All My Children, Another World, As The World Turns, Capitol, Days Of Our Lives, General Hospital, Guiding Light, Loving, One Life To Live, Ryan’s Hope, Santa Barbara, Search For Tomorrow (which ended it’s run in 1986), and The Young and the Restless; the 4 prime-time shows were the “big four” of the 1980’s: Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Knots Landing. Can anybody think what the other two were? I think Flamingo Road aired a few years earlier…

Kudos to Bryan Datillo, who has been killing it as a heartbroken and drunk Lucas Horton! (:
