Hattie: “I’m not a doctor; I just play one in Salem.” This is the kind of writing that makes daytime fun!
Freeman, in reference to your question about the soaps…was the commercial filmed in 1986 or 1981?
EmmyLoser: “Judi Evans is just doing some incredible work here. I think the differences in Adrienne’s relationships with those around her, and the greater ripple effects of Bonnie’s actions while pretending to be her, have just provided some really rich nuance and subtlety for Evans to play, and she’s absolutely killing it.” I agree completely!
The music they were playing today for the scene with Lt. Raines and Lani made me laugh (in a good way). It sounded like a swarm of bees. I liked the scenes between Eli and JJ. Eli was spot-on in calling him a “loose cannon.” Nice work today from Aaron Spears, Lamon Archey, Casey Moss, and Sal Stowers. And of course it goes without saying that I loved Deidre Hall, Judi Evans, and Wally Kurth.
Another good day for Days.August 28, 2017 at 4:56 pm #1202197657
To answer your question, robbalto, 1986. I think the two other shows must have been prime-time soaps that I don’t quite remember…
Loved today’s show, esp. “Adrienne” (Bonnie) and it was great to see Maggie again!
This show is the most FUN of the four right now (:August 29, 2017 at 9:43 am #1202198279

Just a curious question why a couple of you keep spelling Anjelica, Angelique?August 30, 2017 at 5:57 pm #1202199667
Youngsoapfan: “Just a curious question why a couple of you keep spelling Anjelica, Angelique?”
Good eye! Since I did not watch Days when the character originally aired, I keep mixing up her name. I meant to say Angelica. But the question prompted me to do some research on the spelling. The spelling that I have typically seen for this name is Angelica. The sources I consulted regarding the character were split: some spelled it Angelica, while others spelled it Anjelica. However, the NBC Days website spells it Anjelica, and I would defer to them as it is their character.September 4, 2017 at 4:46 pm #1202203589
Friday was another great episode. I love that Ron Carlivati is giving so much attention to Wally Kurth, Judi Evans, and Bryan Datillo. I loved the scenes between Justin and Lucas, especially the way that Datillo played the subtext. And I especially loved when Bonnie called Hope “Fancy Face” and Hope gave her a look. I even enjoyed the scenes with Hattie and Andre.
In other story, Gabi reconnected with Eli and landed in a dangerous situation with Lt. Raines. I am so glad that Gabi is prominent because I love Camila Banus.
The weakest part of the show for me is probably the Brady/Nicole/Eric triangle. Despite my love for their portrayers, this story seems somehow unconvincing.
Overall I am finding the show highly enjoyable.September 4, 2017 at 4:53 pm #1202203592
I still remain fearful that Eric will leave with Nicole ):
I too really enjoyed Friday’s episode. I hope Bryan Datillo submits this year; I know he hasn’t in the past. His work has been beyond stellar! (:
This month Chandler Massey returns!!!!! (: I am going to a throw a huge celebration!!! (: I just hope for great story and that Ron C. understands why we love him so much! Personally, I hope he was switched when he went off to L.A. and so all that happened afterwards was null and void…
I still say: Adrienne, request a meeting with the warden and insist in having your fingerprints and DNA tested to prove that you are not Bonnie! (;
Looking forward to tomorrow’s new episode! (:September 4, 2017 at 5:07 pm #1202203599
Freeman: “I still remain fearful that Eric will leave with Nicole.”
To be honest, I am starting to get that vibe too!
Freeman: “I hope Bryan Datillo submits this year. His work has been beyond stellar!”
Agreed. I keep meaning to cite him in the Submissions Thread. He is doing such a great job.
Freeman: “Adrienne, request a meeting with the warden and insist in having your fingerprints and DNA tested to prove that you are not Bonnie!:
No! I am not ready for this story to end yet. I’m enjoying it way too much.
Freeman: “This month Chandler Massey returns!”
I have not yet learned his first air date, but at this point it can’t be far off.
Freeman: “I hope he was switched when he went off to L.A. and so all that happened afterwards was null and void…”
Sounds like a good plan, Freeman!September 7, 2017 at 8:09 am #1202206204
I’m finally (mostly) caught up!
I am so excited for Chandler Massey to be back! I can’t wait. Just in time to bust up Paul and Sonny’s wedding! I do like the idea of Will having been switched when he was in LA, because that’s when he first cheated on Sonny and then cheated on him some more with Paul afterwards. But it would be weird to have Paul remembering sleeping with Will and that never having happened for Will. Given posts from Chandler about how great the scripts are and the praise for Chandler’s acting from Christopher Sean, I am just super excited to see how things play out. It is hilarious to me that the push for a PaulSon/Chabigail double wedding steps from there only being one available date before the New Year. I’m pretty sure most people don’t mind having four or five months to plan their wedding. Hope and Rafe have already been engaged longer than these two couples plan to be!
The stuff with Bonnie and all of the characters around her has been so great! Her calling Hope Fancy Face was so funny, and I love that she is actually trying to make it a thing that she calls her son Jackson instead of Sonny. Bonnie has so much personality that it really enhances the story. I also love that she couldn’t keep her hands off Lucas, and that she seems to have genuine affection for him (versus Justin, in whom she seems to have no real interest). Considering her extensive history with some of these people (she worked for Maggie for years, and her daughter was married into the Brady/Horton family for a while), Bonnie shouldn’t have that hard of a time with a lot of the facts, but more just struggle to think of how these things relate to Adrienne and how she’d behave. They seem to be getting that right. It should in theory be fairly easy to Adrienne to prove he’s not Bonnie, but then they did throw her in solitary for a month, so she may not be getting the chance to insist on anything for a while.
Hattie and Andre were funny as well. I have to say, I’ve come to really like Andre. His friendship with Abigail has really done a lot for the character in my eyes. Marlena and John trying to figure out who Hattie was working with also made me laugh, as their two big options, Stefano and Alex North, are supposed to be dead. The scenes with Hattie and Paul were hilarious as well. “What’s a fancy word for spoiled?” “You’re asking me?!”
And I agree, the one story that’s kind of a drag is Nicole, Eric and Brady. It feels pretty ridiculous to me that Eric would be in love with Nicole at this point, and frankly very disappointing. If the story were actually just about Brady being driven crazy jealous by Nicole and Eric getting along and not trusting Nicole because of her history, I think I’d enjoy it more. I really hope Eric doesn’t leave town with Nicole, but he is being written as basically a satellite to her. The character doesn’t even exist on his own right now. I’d also hate to see Nicole go to jail for Deimos’s murder. It was good to get a little more story out of the murder mystery than for it to have ended when Dario left town (if that was the original plan), but I don’t love that the options now seem to be that Nicole and Brady manage to keep the whole thing a secret forever or Nicole goes to jail. It seems totally plausible that Nicole could admit to what happened and get a lenient deal or just not be convicted at trial, but that doesn’t feel like an option right now.September 8, 2017 at 6:40 pm #1202207639
I am enjoying being surprised by the show lately (: Loved that Hattie turned the tables on Andre; I was so not expecting it! Loved that Paul, Roman and Hope are on to Hattie. Loved Bonnie flirting up a storm with Victor! The show is mostly fun again! Loved Hope calling Hattie by her name at the door – I am in supsense waiting to see what happens next… I have had the feeling that they were going to wrap up the Hattie/Bonnie story quickly. I suppose they could stretch out Bonnie’s storyline for a bit of time though. Looking forward to Monday’s show! (:September 11, 2017 at 11:12 am #1202210249
Truly loved today’s episode (:
Who else thinks that is Chandler Massey (Will) at the end of today’s episode?
Esp. loved Hattie and Hope’s scenes today (: I was really (and surprisingly) touched by it; esp. the reciting the reading of her rights together (:
I wonder if they will keep the Bonnie/Adrienne story going or will Hattie spill the beans on Bonnie?
this show is the only one I truly look forward to lately. Not everything works – I find Theo’s scenes usually quite dull, hoping Ciara’s return will be a good one.September 11, 2017 at 3:41 pm #1202210430
Evidently, Will surfaces at the end of Friday’s episode in a “vision,” but will not be seen regularly until October.
I too was surprised by the rapidity of Hattie’s story progress, but with all the scheduled returns, it looks like Days will be telling many new stories in short order. In the meantime, I am in no rush for Adrienne to return. I am having too much fun watching Bonnie mix it up with Maggie. The doppelgänger story has certainly showcased Deidre Hall and Judi Evans, but others have benefited as well, including Kristian Alfonso, Wally Kurth, Suzanne Rogers, and Bryan Datillo.
Freeman, I have to agree… Days is the most enjoyable of the four shows right now. Y&R is obviously more substantial, but there are aspects of the show that are weighing it down.September 11, 2017 at 4:20 pm #1202210454
I’m just so glad Chandler will be on the show again (: Disappointed that they aren’t doing it that Guy Wilson’s Will was an imposter though, and I do wonder now – who was the person (looked like a man to me) at the end of today’s show? Now, of course, I can’t wait to watch Friday’s show! I will be throwing a celebration!!!! (First, Rafa, now Chandler! This is a GREAT week!) (;September 12, 2017 at 8:58 am #1202210996
I agree, the show has been so so much fun of late, and I am just thrilled Chandler Massey will be showing up soon! I read the DAYS preview in Soap Opera Digest which was slightly spoilery but also had some good insights into where some of the stories are going — or in some cases where they’ve gone already, since it was published a couple of weeks ago and the pace is so quick. It sounds like it’ll be a really enjoyable fall.
The scenes with Andre’s press conference were great. I also love that once Paul involved Hope it took her all of 10 seconds to realize Hattie was impersonating Marlena. It’s a nice change when the cops actually seem to have a clue about what’s going on. The Salem PD has been pretty smart lately! Bonnie’s scenes have also just been hilarious. I had forgotten how much I love this character. The look on Victor’s face when she touched his leg was too good.September 12, 2017 at 9:01 am #1202210999
I also love that Chandler Massey is interviewed about his return in the New York Post! It’s always great when soaps can get a little mainstream media attention for positive reasons, not just because the ratings suck or a bunch of them got cancelled.
