Here are my thoughts – I am not doing Series, Directing or Writing because I do not know what the submissions are in those categories.

    Best Actress

    Will Win: Laura Wright, GH
Should Win: Nancy Lee Grahn, GH

Carly’s storyline was the most dramatic and her reel told a full story. NLG deserves to win but too many people commented on feeling her reel was “disjointed”; I didn’t think so. I will be horrified if any of the 3 CBS actresses win ): (Won’t be the first or last time I have completely disagreed with the Blue Ribbon Panelists!)

    Best Actor

    Will Win: Billy Flynn, Days
    Should Win: Billy Flynn, Days

I am using the same logic I did with Tyler Christopher’s reel from last year; this is the most emotional and touching of the five reels and something I think will move the panelists the most.

    Best Supporting Actress

    Will Win: Finola Hughes, GH
    Should Win: Kate Mansi, Days

3 years in a row, hasn’t won since 1991, a solid strong reel, they clearly like her – I wouldn’t mind if she won, or Kelly or Stacey (I would mind if Anna were to win; she was my personal choice last year for Guest Performer but she simply didn’t do enough in 2016 to merit an Emmy despite a really good reel). Kate Mansi blew me away with her reel and imo deserves to win, hands down the best.

    Best Supporting Actor

    Will Win: Steve Burton, Y&R
    Should Win: John Aniston, Days

They love to give departing actors Emmys; SB has ties to voters from both GH and Y&R; his reel was very strong emotional material; he worked really well with his fellow cast members. I want John Aniston to win a career Emmy. I would be shocked if James Reynolds were to win and totally ticked off if Jeffrey Vincent Parise were to win. Chad Duell winning a 2nd Emmy would be a surprise but a pleasant one.

    Best Younger Actress

    Will Win: Reign Edwards, B&B
    Should Win: Lexi Ainsworth, GH

    My gut intuition is that they will reward RE. IDK why I feel this way. LA has the best strongest most emotional reel, yet… this is a toss-up! The only reel I didn’t connect with personally was Hunter King’s and she has two Emmys already, so no to her winning! (;

    Best Younger Actor

    Will Win: Bryan Craig, GH
    Should Win: Bryan Craig, GH

Superb, amazing, incredible, one of the best reels I have ever seen! I will be SHOCKED if they give it to someone else. Fine reels from the other nominees – except for Anthony Turpel, who bored be completely, particularly Pierson Fode.

    Best Guest Performer

    Will Win: Nichelle Nichols, Y&R
    Should Win: Nichelle Nichols, Y&R

Disappointed with this group of nominees, I think her work was the best of the five. I adore Monica Horan, and she was hilarious, but Emmy worthy? Did not care for any of the other three. I think Y&R will win this one.

I didn’t watch the daytime dramas enough during 2016 to weigh in on who should win. So, I’m going with my sense of who will win.

Drama Series: The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)
Lead Actor: Kristoff St. John, The Young and the Restless (CBS)
Lead Actress: Nancy Lee Grahn, General Hospital (ABC)
Supporting Actor: John Aniston, Days of Our Lives (NBC)
Supporting Actress: Anna Maria Horsford, The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)
Younger Actor: Pierson Fodé, The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)
Younger Actress: Reign Edwards, The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)
Guest Performer: Nichelle Nichols, The Young and the Restless (CBS)
Direction: Days of Our Lives (NBC)
Writing: The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)

I’m predicting the rubber stamping and repeat winners we typically see from the Daytime Emmys. But based on reels, I’d say 5 of the 6 acting categories should have 1st time winners. But I doubt the voters will see it that way!

I simply do not get why so many of you think Anna Maria Horsford will win? I will be astonished if that happens! I think it’s Finola vs. Kate. and please: I would have cast my vote and was rooting for Anna Maria last year in the guest performer category; I liked her work more than Obba B’s, and they essentially had the same reel (I think she had two minutes at the end of her reel after Julius left the wedding).

    I think it will be wise for me not to watch the livestream and wait until I know the winners. it will make me too nauseous if the wrong people win!!!!! (;

I’m not good at distinguishing “will” from “should,” so I will just list my predictions.

    Lead Actor
    Kristoff St. John

    Lead Actress
    Laura Wright

    Supporting Actor
    Chad Duell

    Supporting Actress
    Anna Maria Horsford

    Younger Actor
    Bryan Craig

    Younger Actress
    Reign Edwards

With that said, there are always surprises and upsets. The lead categories are somewhat predictable, but how many times have the supporting and especially younger categories left us in shock as one of the least-favored performers takes home the gold?

I’m usually so wrong on these that my picks hardly seem worth posting. Instead, I’ve averaged all of the rankings from everyone who posted them in each acting category, and here’s where they stand as of this posting”

Lead Actress: Laura Wright (despite some vocal support for Gina Tognoni, Wright has the most first place rankings and stands clearly ahead of Tognoni and Heather Tom, who are in a virtual tie for second place)

Lead Actor: Peter Bergman (solidly ahead of Billy Flynn, though both rank first more often than any other position)

Supporting Actress: Anna Maria Horsford (very narrowly ahead of Kate Mansi, who, despite a slightly lower average ranking, does have more first place rankings than Horsford)

Supporting Actor: Steve Burton (with Chad Duell the only other contender standing apart from the pack, mostly because Duell is consistently ranked second or third)

Younger Actress: Reign Edwards (slightly ahead of Lexi Ainsworth, the two of them claiming the top two spots in most rankings)

Younger Actor: Bryan Craig (the most clear-cut favorite, he can barely see Pierson Fode in the distance behind him)

The only slam dunk category seems to be Younger Actor, with Lead Actress being the next most decisive based on the numbers. The closest is Supporting Actress, the only category where the person with the most first place votes isn’t ranked highest, followed by Younger Actress. I’m excited to see how all of this pans out!

    It is interesting that Reign Edwards and Bryan Craig were the only ones to get significant Goldies votes, and Craig was the only winner. I was shocked that Laura Wright didn’t factor in this year’s Goldies (I must admit though that I did not cast a vote for her in the first round either!). I don’t get Anna Maria Horsford’s support at all! I like her, but geesh, an Emmy for her four performances (I am exaggerating) during 2016? );

Part of what this can be, when discussing the Emmys (daytime or prime-time), is anticipating voters’ responses.

Perceptions are not exactly the same between people who watch the soaps regularly, or fairly regularly, and people who probably don’t but will make judgments. So, it may be that we are coming at this differently. And that can be where some things are not easy to understand.

My reason for predicting Kristoff St. John, over Billy Flynn, in lead actor is very much motivated by the fact that no one has won this category with his very first nomination since Bob Woods scored in 1983. That’s a very weird thing. But, for more than 30 years it has been the case. Multiple winners, like David Canary and Peter Bergman, had to lose with their first noms (Canary, 1985; Bergman, 1983) before winning. (This is also true with Anthony Geary and his eight Emmys. He lost on his first try in 1981 and then won with his second in 1982.) It sucks. It really does. But, that is key to my prediction for this category. (Add to this that I predict Nichelle Nichols will win in guest performer. The scenes between Neil and his mother…that I think both St. John and Nichols are going to prevail.)

    DRAMA SERIES
    Y&R

    LEAD ACTRESS
    Laura Wright (Carly, GH)

    LEAD ACTOR
    Kristoff St. John (Neil, Y&R)

    SUPPORTING ACTRESS
    Finola Hughes (Anna, GH)

    SUPPORTING ACTOR
    Jeffrey Vincent Parise (Carlos/Joe, GH)

    YOUNGER ACTRESS
    Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith, Y&R)

    YOUNGER ACTOR
    Bryan Craig (Morgan, GH)

    GUEST PERFORMER
    Nichelle Nichols (Lucinda, Y&R)

    DIRECTING TEAM
    B&B

    WRITING TEAM
    DAYS

Watched all of the acting reels earlier today and I don’t think I’ll be doing that again. I will say most of the reels were tragic.org. Like the majority of these reels were assembled terribly. Like they put in useless scenes or ended it in awkward ways. I do have to agree with everyone praising the lead actress category. Amazing stuff there and Laura Wright out of all the acting contenders knows how to play the game and hopefully she’ll win tomorrow. I wrote an article about Scott Clifton joining the “3 nom club” and how he would be the first actor to win all 3. He could because he acted the hell out of garbage writing, but then there’s Kristoff St. John. So amazing! The performance reminds me of Tyler Christopher’s winning reel so it’ll be him becoming the first male to win at all three levels for the same role.

Don’t get me wrong I loved Laura Wright & Heather Tom’s reels ( I am a huge huge huge fan of Heather’s), but if I were was voting on who would win, I’m looking for range and whos reel could reach out and grab me. That’s what Gina Tognoni ( Phyllis, Y&R) did for me. It was greatly written by Charles Pratt Jr. Those scenes in the courtroom and the break up scenes were breathtaking.
Billy Flynns reel was the best even though I enjoyed Peter Bergmans tape ( I’m hoping for a tie lol) as well as Scott Clifton’s & Kristoff St John’s. The way Chad grieved over Abigail’s death was heartbreaking to me.
Steve Burton deserves to definitely win Supporting Actor. John Aniston was great as well as Chad Duell but Burton held my attention better than the other four did. Even Parises tape was entertaining. James Reynolds’ was good too but it didn’t hold me in Long enough.
Kate Mansi, Finola Hughes, Anna Marie Horsford, Kelly Sullivan, and Stacy Haiduk all had great tapes. Kate’s was best because it was just what it was. Anna Marie Horsfords was superb. If either one wins I’d be happy.
Bryan Craig is the winner of the younger Actor award. No doubt about it. Even though James Lastovic & Pierson Fode both had great tapes. Tequan Richmond & Anthony Turpel didn’t reach out and grab me.
If Reign Edwards doesn’t win I’m going to think something is definitely wrong with the blue ribbon panel. I’ve had a gut feeling since I saw those scenes on tv. It won’t let go. I’m certain about this one but Lexi Ainsworth and Hunter King were both good as well. Alyvia was good but it wasn’t enough to keep my attention & Chloe dropped the ball by being overshadowed by Benard.
Y&rs is going to win best drama. I’m certain. GH could have win if they picked Morgan’s death & days could have win as well if they picked Daniels death, but they didn’t so it’s y&rs
B&b are going to win directing team for the scenes in Monte Carlo where steffy finds out about Quinn & Eric
Idk about writing but if I had to tell a wild guess it’s going to be either days of our lives or y&r
I’ve been watching the daytime Emmy Awards since 1992 and even as a kid I had a feeling about who would win. I predicted Linda Dano, Melissa Hayden, Kim Zimmer (#4 Emmy), Jonathan Jackson (1999, 2011 & 2012 wins), Maura west ( both wins), Michael Park ( both wins), Anthony Geary (1999, 2000, 2006 wins), Gina Tognoni both wins), Tom Pelphrey ( both wins), Jen Landon (all three wins), Chandler Massey (all three wins), Heather Tom (all five wins), Erika Slezak (1992, 1995, 1996 , & 2005 wins), Jerry ver Dorn (both wins), Anna Holbrook, Michelle Stafford (both wins even though she should have won Laura Wrights Emmy in 2011), Scott Clifton (both wins), Billy Miller ( all three wins), Tamara Braun, Martha bryne (2001), Kristoff St John (both wins), Julia Barr (1998), Cynthia Watros ( 1998 my own mom didn’t believe me when I said it that reel was on fire), Susan Flannery (2000, 2002, & 2003 no one believed me n I was right), Josh Duhamel (2002), Crystal Chappell (2002 no one believed me again lol my mom & grandma looked shocked when they realized I was right), Jordi Vilasuso (2003 I was sure he would win for Tony’s prison scenes n I was right), Jennifer Finnigan (all three), Adrienne Frantz ( 2001 I knew it no one cold believe me even though Eden Riegels was good for Bianca’s coming out), Justin Torkildsen ( 2001 Rick blasting Amber for her lies was beautiful my mom dropped her mouth when I called his name before the presenters opened the envelope), Natalia Livingston (2005), Freddie Smith (2015 no one believed me again n I was right), Benjamin Hendrickson ( I felt it in my heart & I called his name before John Ritter did), Leslie Kay ( the predictors thought Cady would win but I knew it was Kay’s award), Eden Riegel (2005 I said finally lol), Hillary B. Smith (1994), Justin Deas (1994, 1995, & 1997 my mom was like how did you know that lol), Jess Walton (1997 even though I kind of second guessed myself cause I was a big Jensen Buchanan fan but I was almost certain that Walton was the winner), Ian Buchanan (1997 I just knew he would win for b&bs James), Kevin Mambo (1996-1997 & my mom could not believe it), Monti Sharp (1993 my grandma was happy as hell lol n so was I ), Christ Khalil (2012), Hunter King ( both wins I don’t care what no one says she’s a great actor and deserved them so), True O’Brien ( 2016 I was a lil biased though cause I loved her and Hunters reels), Mary Beth Evans (2016 no one believed me again even though my heart wanted Kassie Depaiva to win but I knew Evans tears for Bo was going to win the academy over), Vincent Irizarry/ Jeff Branson (2009 Lord knows I wanted it to happen & it did ), and the most shocking of all was Y&R and GL tying for best drama in 2007. I kid you not. I knew it was going to be one or both. I was beyond happy when it happened.
