I always wanted to know what other people preferred as their Daytime Emmy Location. So for decades we have been getting, Ballroom (the ones we have been getting the past few years) and aTheather.
I always preferred Theather, since it always felt like an Oscar award show. Theathers was just always my preference and I hope that they choose that type of location next year other than a boring Ballroom.
While it’s fun to see the casts at different tables in a ballroom setting, I prefer the theater setting. The main reason is probably that it makes it feel more like a legitimate awards show, more Oscars and less Golden Globes, which is what the Daytime Emmys need almost as much as they need a process that reflects the nature of a daily drama.
At the rate it’s been going, for the last several years, if the Emmys can get a room that accommodates more than 25 people…they’re in fairly good shape.
I actually prefer the ballroom because, to quote EmmyLoser, “it’s fun to see the casts at different tables in a ballroom setting.” The ballroom feels intimate and cozy, and viewers can actually see the soap actors. Back when the Daytime Emmys was actually a good show, they were always in a ballroom, which helped define the event. In a theater, television viewers cannot easily distinguish anyone in the audience. To me, a theater feels more formal, generic, and uninviting.
I’d prefer them televised first and foremost. Then we can all get hammered and throw shade in the live thread like last year.
without a doubt, a ballroom! (: I love seeing the nominees from each show sitting at the same table. And I want the four daytime shows to have the best tables up front! None of this foolishness of Chandler Massey being at the back of the room like he was in 2014! Watching the clips from past shows, it was always disappointing those years it was held in a theatre.
