Why the HELL are there 5 nominees for 2 Talk Show categories?
They nominated every one currently on the air!
Maury for Best Talk Show?
Harry Connick for his lame a%% show? The jumbo mess of The View co hosts.
There are 6 nominees for Talk Show Host Entertainment!
So basically if you have a show on Daytime you get nominated regardless if its any good.
If you break Talk Show into Entertainment and Informative there should be only 3-4 nominees period per category!
Jesus make the Daytime Emmys great again! SAD!
Well, Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil weren’t nominated. But yes, these nominees are flipping weird. I honestly didn’t know Maury even still produced new episodes; I thought his show ended like 20 years ago.
I couldn’t believe Maury was nominated. That was truly shocking.
I was thinking after the nominations came out how the Daytime Emmys seem to be taking a very inclusive approach, having a bunch of categories and plenty of nominees filling them out. At least in the acting categories, there used to be a rule to limit the number of nominees based on the number of entrants, something like that there were to be no more than one-third the number of entrants, with some caveats and special circumstances. I think they did away with that last year, and clearly it’s not in effect now, with five nominees resulting from the eight guys who entered the younger actor category.
Anyway, then I thought maybe it does make sense that there are so many categories. The Daytime Emmys used to really focus on soaps, but now there are only four soaps, but what are the thousand channels that exist out there airing throughout the day? It’s not all reruns of Dawson’s Creek, so I guess it makes sense to have more awards to go with more content?
It’s really the same with the Drama categories. There are only four soaps left and all four got nominated. It’s really not that much of an honor to be nominated anymore. They should have a cut off like only 3 shows can be nominated.
