Pardon the harshness, but good riddance.  I feel like Adam could have been, and still could be much more with a stronger actor.  IMO, MM’s schtick became repetitive in a hurry, and I never saw the chemistry between him and Case/MCE/etc.

The only exposure I have to Muhney was his Emmy reel this year. I
thought he was solid in an underwhelming episode. According to his exit
interview, they’ll be recasting. I vote for Trevor St. John. Michael
Logan posted some cryptic tweets indicating there’s a lot more to this
story. I wonder what could have happened.

You should have no problem “pardoning” my “harshness”…

You need to have your eyes and ears checked!

The chemistry was right between Michael Muhney’s Adam and Melissa Claire Egan’s Chelsea. They looked and acted terrifically together. Of course, the soap f’d with that; and—whattya know!—somehow things got out of hand.

The Young and the Restless has been the worst of the four network daytime soaps during 2013. I don’t think much of any bad news coming from the CBS drama seems terribly surprising. And this latest is no exception.

I am sorry that Michael Muhney was fired. And I hope he lands something good soon.

Since I cant compare this to any others, I will say that although I check in once in a while, I have been ‘sickened’ by the screenplay and the obvious ‘homages’ they write in for their sponsors. I’ve been debating just eliminating this soap but it’s a decades+ long habit.

Best of luck to Muhney. I thought he was pretty good.

So he was acting a fool on set and they finally got tired of it?

Oh please, Eric Braeden, Peter Bergman, Michelle Stafford, even Jeanne Cooper “acted fools” on set. When an actor feels the writers wrote something that is against what their character would do they yell, scream until it gets changed. That’s the nature of acting.

JFP is just wanting to ruin this soap like she’s done to every soap she’s worked on. I hope SHE gets fired and nobody else hires her unless they want their show ran into the ground.

I’m torn b/c I have made my feelings about Michael known, but I won’t be a Petty Betty and kick him while he’s down. I can’t imagine being fired around the holidays. I too wonder what went down b/c something had to since they are recasting. And it seems like Michael Logan, who is a JFP apologist, knows the tea but is either letting it brew or won’t spill. Either way, I wonder who will be nuAdam?

First off, I should say that I now see that the “pardon the harshness” phrase was passive-agressive on my part.  In hindsight, I probably should have chosen to either say or supress my thought, rather than saying it while adding a lame (and ineffective) attempt to prevent offending anyone.

So here is my opinion.  There has been little consistency between the writing regimes since Adam was introduced, as to who the character is fundamentally.  In the hands of a stronger actor, those incosistencies could have been integrated resulting in a really fascinating character.  There a few great examples of this amongst the daytime divas, like Maura West’s Carly and Kim Zimmer’s Reva.  I understand that it may not be fair to compare MM or anyone else to those legends, but my point is that more potential in Adam would have been realized if there was less pouting and more expressive line delivery by the actor.  As for his chemistry with MCE (and others), I didn’t see it with any of those ladies, but I realize that I am probably in the minority on that issue so maybe an eye/ear check is in order because apparently I have been missing out.

I dunno, you guys. Dan J. Kroll reported yesterday on a tweet by Muhney’s fellow castmember, Doug Davidson, that JFP should not be faulted for this rather shocking casting shake-up. For the details:  http://soapcentral.com/yr/news/2013/1218-muhney.php

I also think that “there’s more to the story” and maaaaaaybe we’re all jumping way too soon to conclusions based really on just gossip at this point. I think Michael Logan definitely needs to get the inside scoop on this. He always manages to land the best interviews. Once we know the full story, we should all have a much better picture of what really went on behind the scenes.

LOLOL! No; I doubt this. Btw, you dont have to “try” not offending anyone. I simply happens with some, the paranoid ones at least who see darkness in every corner. Just an overall statement, and not ‘aimed’ at any bright person in this thread. haha.,

I got what you meant gdfl, that you weren’t trying to be cruel or mean,
but you just didn’t see MM being gone as a loss for the show.  I think
    that came across.

This is certainly an interesting story.  I
haven’t seen much of MM’s acting since I stopped watching Y&R not
long after he started.  I thought he was fine, but I also felt like some
of the soap presses were making a bigger deal out of him that
necessary.  Since then I’ve really only seen him on Emmy reels, where he
was never bad but nothing really popped.  I’m sure the character
suffered from the regime changes, but as gdfl said, others have dealt
with that and made lemonade of those lemons.  I think of the whiplash
personality rewrites for EJ DiMera on DAYS during his first five or so
years on the show, which really only worked because James Scott made it
    work.

It sure seems like MM did something to get himself in hot
water, but who knows.  I’m not a big fan of pointing blame when actors
and shows part ways, but I am curious.  I could have seen them wanting
to move the character in a certain direction and feeling like they
needed to recast to do that, or to finally erase the image of some of
the despicable things Adam did early on before they made him a leading
man, like the whole disgusting business with Ashley’s baby.

    I
will also say, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, that I still saw
Chris Engen’s portrayal of Adam as more real than any I saw from MM, so
I never warmed up to him that much, even though Engen as a personality
was apparently kind of a dick.

Logan was NAWT kidding when he tweeted that “there’s more to the story”. I have been getting my entire life reading the SON board thread about this news and a rumor was dropped that has since been confirmed by MTS. Allegedly Michael was bothering Hunter King. And when I say bother, I mean the kind of bother that involves a visit from the good people from human resources. I knew there had to be a reason there has been radio silence from the soap press since this all came out. The drama with the previous Adam has NATHIN on this.
