DC is also reporting that both Michael Graziadei and Billy Miller are not renewing their contracts.
One is a lost for the show and the other I thought was on recurring. Both have that it to do great in primetime. And I remeber reading that Miller was a serious contender for one of the leads on “Dallas”.September 17, 2012 at 7:05 am #423244
Yes, good luck to both of them. Both are talented, good looking guys who should be able to do well, I think especially Billy Miller. In terms of the characters, I agree Daniel has more than run his course, but Billy is still a good character to have around. Maybe JFP gets Steve Burton as a recast? Is that crazy?September 18, 2012 at 7:23 pm #423246
The Young and the Restless apparently has had too many in the cast in ratio to what storytelling was worthy of airtime … and with what is sensible for keeping the soap operating. That it has been lacking in intelligent direction.
I wish all these actors well.September 18, 2012 at 7:50 pm #423247
Really. I like the Danny character. Billy, I wont miss.
This isnt good imo, this turnover of actors. Who’s next?September 18, 2012 at 8:42 pm #423248
I don’t see Steve Burton coming to Y&R. He said repeatedly in less or more words that he was just tired and wanted to spend time with his family, tucked away in the woods of Nashville acting. I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t return to GH if he did return to daytime. And if Billy Miller chose to leave, that’s one thing, but if he’s been let go just so JFP can bring in “one of her own,” that would be an incredible slap-in-the-face. Miller – proof that the Daytime Emmys have some credibility – has done very well in the role and as an actor I didn’t give much merit based on the way he was wasted on AMC before he began on Y&R. It turns out his tenure on AMC was so poorly written and one-note that it was nearly impossible to rise above it (the same exact thing happened to Stacy Haiduk). However, if he chose to leave, good for him. He will have no problems making it in primetime and doing it well a la Josh Duhamel and Matt Bomer.September 19, 2012 at 6:57 am #423249
Well, Carlivati has kind of thrown Jason under the bus, so I could see why Burton would maybe want to leave that show even if he didn’t want to leave daytime. But I do think that a lot of these actors are getting tired of the grind, and without the glamour of decades past to fuel them on, are feeling like they either want to move up (into primetime film) or move out (to places like Nashville and Virginia).October 27, 2012 at 7:37 pm #423250
Billy Miller is my Y&R husband. I don’t worry about him leaving because he will certainly land somewhere else. I have never been a Billy/Victoria fan because I felt Miller had better chemistry with Elizabeth Hendrickson’s Chloe. To me, there will never be another Victoria other than Heather Tom whom I have disliked on OLTL and B&B. Amelia Heinle didn’t even have chemistry with her real-life husband. I would hope that if they were going to recast that maybe they could get Tamara Braun to play Vicky. I’ve never thought Heinle had the acting chops for the part.
Daniel has little purpose in GC once Heather departs and the Daisey debacle is resolved. I will miss MG though. He has certainly had a good run, but if I could chose who would leave the show it wouldn’t be him. I would rather do without Christian LeBlanc or Greg Rikaart any day. I could do without Bryton James, Stephen Nichols and Kristoff St. John.October 28, 2012 at 2:27 pm #423252
^^^^You have a valid point, but the writing cannot be blamed for the lack of chemistry. Billy and Victoria are very popular and I never understood why. Miller had chemistry with everyone – Adrienne Frantz, Christel Kahlil, Liz Hendrickson, Sharon Case, Vail Bloom…but just not the one he’s ended up with.October 28, 2012 at 4:49 pm #423253

I agree with this. He’s a terrific actor, but when he and Victoria are together, that’s when I usually get up to refresh my coffee.
