So, what you are saying is we have to post at certain times of the day or we loose a day? Confused.

No. Let me clarify. Two rules.

• Rule number one: You can vote only once during a midnight through 11:59 PM period. Voting more than once during a midnight through 11:59 PM period means your second vote will not be counted. At all.
• That means that if you vote at midnight on Monday and vote again at midnight on Tuesday, both votes will be counted. But if you vote at midnight on Monday and at 11:59 PM on Monday, only your first vote will be counted.
• This theoretically means that you are allowed to vote more than once in a 24-hour period, but only if the votes are in two different calendar days. This has happened several times already.
• All times are according to EASTERN STANDARD TIME. So if you do not live in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, you must check what time it is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone before voting if you want to avoid accidentally submitting an invalid vote.
• Gold Derby runs on Pacific Time. Midnight EST is 9 PM EST.
• Fortunately, this rule hasn’t been violated yet, so you don’t have to worry about it. So far, no votes have been invalidated. All of your votes are valid so far.
• Rule number two: I update the tally every day, and the official updates show what the scores are at noon Eastern Standard Time.
• If you vote after noon Eastern Standard Time, that’s okay. As long as you didn’t violate Rule number one, you vote will be counted. It will not be counted for the daily update, but it will be counted (but for the next day’s update).
• Tallies are not official until the noon updates. That means if a choice reaches zero points before noon EST, but then receives a point before noon EST, that choice will not be eliminated despite having reached zero points at one point, because it received points prior to the update. Choices are only eliminated when they have zero points at the time of an update.
• There have already been several occasions where I had to notify a user that their vote will be counted for the next day’s update.

Yesterday, you voted after noon Eastern Standard Time. Your vote was late by four minutes (Gold Derby’s clock is three hours behind EST). So your vote was not counted for yesterday’s update. But it will be counted for today’s update.

I mean to put “PST” at the end when I said “Midnight EST is 9 PM EST.” My bad.

If any future replies feature her, I will message you personally and ask you to change your vote, and your vote will not be counted until a change is made. Should a change not be made on the same day as the original vote, this will not affect your eligibility to cast a vote the following day. So if you cast an invalid vote today and changed it tomorrow, you would still be able to cast a second vote tomorrow as if nothing happened.
