As someone obviously really into movies I’m always thinking about ones that could be made, and sometimes I just have the idea that an actor would be perfect for a character, but it’s just never going to happen.

My big example, is that I just cannot get over the idea of how amazing Kristin Scott Thomas would be as Christine Vole in Witness for the Prosecution, one of my all time favorite films. Everything I see her in just makes me think more and more of how much she would blow it out of the park. It would be near impossible to even rival Marlene Dietrich’s incredible (and insanely oscar snubbed) performance, but Thomas would come as close as I could possible imagine. The iciness she brings to her roles and layers she adds to create a sense of mystery, plus she happens to look a lot like Dietrich. But unfortunately the movie will probably never be remade (not that it necessarily should be) and even if it is only right now would she be around the right age. So it honestly just makes me kind of sad sometimes to think that I’ll never get to see her play that part (or win an oscar for it which I could see her doing).

So what actors do you think would be absolutely perfect for roles that you’ll never get to see them play. And for whatever reason, maybe now they’re too old, or the movies already been made or will never be made

*Warning: Partial Spoilers for The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.

Armie Hammer as Tracy Bacon in a film version of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Hammer has the looks of an old-fashioned matinee idol and has a natural charm, qualities that would be a perfect fit for the role. However, the movie’s not being made anytime soon, and as the character is supposed to be ~23 years old if memory serves, he’ll probably age out of contention pretty soon. Even if the movie was made being today he probably wouldn’t want to take a role so similar to the one he played in J. Edgar. I admittedly haven’t seen J. Edgar but the characters do have some obvious surface similarities.

Edit: And I’ve seen Hammer as Bacon suggested before J. Edgar even came out, so it’s not as if the Eastwood film was where everyone got the idea from.

I LOVE Stephen King novels and there is one called Desperation. Anyways, it was made into a movie but not a good one and deserves the correct treatment and Julianne Moore would be great as Mary but I think it will never happen.

😮 Kavalier and Clay is my favourite book ever, and I completely agree, Hammer would be brilliant! For some weird reason I kept imagining him as Alexander Skasgaard but Hammer is perfect for the role! On the topic of the book, I’d also love to see Natalie Portman as Rosa Saks, Susan Sarandon as Mrs Klayman and Daniel Bruhl as Joe Kavalier.
