I never do anything so tonight I’ll just be bored at home. I’m trying to start watching more movies, I have the time, I just don’t have the attention span to sit through then very often. There’s so much I haven’t seen, and I hate not being in on movie conversations though.June 21, 2017 at 4:41 pm #1202129128
I was good at English because I was a great writer. Fucking sucked at the sciences, was okay at biology but sucked at chemistry and bombed physics (well bombed in my context which is B+). Didn’t help that the teachers were bad.
I mean 90% of them were pretty bad but the district was awful. We had a woman hired on as a Spanish teacher, her qualifications being that she was married to a Mexican guy once and knew some rudimentary Spanish. That’s it.
sounds great im so happy our current administration is working on education … ugggg
Didn’t get any better when Obama was in office so I wouldn’t have been optimistic no matter who got elected. Wish I could have lived a little further north where all the rich kids good schools were.June 21, 2017 at 4:42 pm #1202129129

I think my transcript would give you a heart attack.June 21, 2017 at 4:43 pm #1202129130
My best was math, took all the advanced math aka linear algebra, discrete math, AP calc. Worst was English, omg remember the big Ass blue dictionary SAT Book, I tried forever memorizing the vocabs for that shit. Sigh when the fuck would I use it.June 21, 2017 at 4:44 pm #1202129132

Seriously, go through both AFI top 100 lists and watch the movies you haven’t seen and get caught up lol. I still have a few movies to see from there so I don’t have much room to talk, though.June 21, 2017 at 4:46 pm #1202129133
Even outside the top 100, there’s just so much. Like in the Q&A people will ask to name an actors top 5 performances and I’m always like, I’ve only seen 1 or 2 of that actors movies.June 21, 2017 at 4:51 pm #1202129136

But when you watch a movie and end up enamored with one performance, it opens up the door to explore other filmography, which helps you discover other actors/actresses you might not’ve seen/known previously.
For example, I discovered Isabelle Huppert and her underrated filmography after seeing her as Jessica Chastain’s mother in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.June 21, 2017 at 4:56 pm #1202129138
I also have a terrible memory and attention span so sometimes I’ll watch a movie and by the time it’s over I’ll already have forgotten the first half of it. I know I’ve seen on the waterfront, but I have no idea what happens in that movie.June 21, 2017 at 5:00 pm #1202129139
I have no attention for tv shows. Following the story over multiple episodes and waiting for the next season and ugh I hate television. And judging the acting is so much harder and the Emmys only using an episode is stupid. Movies are short enough for my attention span.
But I have not seen a LOT of movies either. Like I have definitely seen more independent movies that nobody cares about than the big, great, classic landmark films that “everyone” has seen.June 21, 2017 at 5:03 pm #1202129142
See, with tv, a show can hold my attention for 45 minutes. I do think it’s stupid how so many emmy categories consider only an episode, every category should take the entire season of a show or performance into account. Also, seeing more movies isn’t helped by the 60 years of television I have to watch.June 21, 2017 at 5:05 pm #1202129143
I sometimes find it weird when some 20something year old GD member can tell me in great detail and history who won a certain award in like 1943, who was the front runner or the Oscar drama or some shit that’s way before they were born. I’m always like and do you randomly YouTube some oscar coverage from those years to know all this when it didn’t happen in ur lifetime.June 21, 2017 at 5:10 pm #1202129145
Yeah, idk about anyone else, but I always end up googling it since I can’t memorize every single Best Picture/Actor/Actress/Director (especially director) winner in order by year. I know some of my faves and maybe the last 7 or 8 years by heart but other than that I typically draw a blank and have to search it lol.June 21, 2017 at 5:11 pm #1202129147
I’m have like Rain Man memory about any major Oscar win since the 70s till now and remember all the years of all the movies and actors’ wins. But I don’t know much before that because I don’t like many movies before then.
