OMFG i found a paper i wrote in college (1st year ) in film class about million Dollar Baby … LOL

    Million Dollar Baby

Clint Eastwood’s film Million Dollar Baby stars, Hillary Swank, Morgan
Freeman and Clint Eastwood. This film explores the relationship and love
people share. Clint Eastwood’s character, Frankie, owns a gym. Morgan
Freeman’s character ,Scrap, is the janitor and Frankie’s best friend.
Maggie played by Hillary Swank is a young woman who is determined to be
world class boxer. She ends up becoming a magnificent fighter, but, one
day she gets injured and she becomes paralyzed. She asks Frankie to
help her end her life. Frankie finally gives Maggie her wish and Maggie
dies. This film gives you the question; do you love someone enough to
help him or her end their life?
Million Dollar Baby stars Clint as Frankie, Morgan as Scrap and Hillary
as Maggie. Clint Eastwood produced and directed this film. The film is
based on the short story “Rope Burns “ by F.X Toole. The screenplay was
adapted from the book by Paul Haggis.
Frankie is a great boxing trainer and an old man who believes that the
only way to do something is his way. He also owns a gym at which Scrap,
Frankie’s best friend, works as the janitor. Scrap was once prizefighter,
but because of an eye injury he retired from boxing. Frankie loses a
great fighter to a manager, and it breaks his heart. Frankie has never
taken a fighter to a championship match. The day after the loss of his
great fighter, a young scruffy looking woman walks into his gym. He tells
this woman that she should go, but she is determined to become a great
fighter. Maggie hangs around the gym, waiting for Frankie to train her.
One night, Scrap finds Maggie working out at night and decides to show
her some moves. Frankie sees that she is getting better and confronts
her; he tells her he does not train girls. She tells him if she cant box
she has nothing; she knows nothing but boxing in this world. Finally, he
decides to train her, but they will get her a manager when she is ready
to fight. Frankie does not want the heartache of losing another fighter.
They start a grueling training program or, a Scrap calls it “ breaking
them down so low that all the listen to is you.” Maggie begins to build
her body into a boxing machine; she listens and does whatever Frankie
    says.
Frankie now feels she is ready to fight, he gets her a manager. At
Maggie’s first fight Scrap and Frankie sit watching as she is just
getting pummeled. Frankie gets upset and takes over, now Maggie is his
    fighter.
They both are working together great, she is winning tons of fights and
Frankie has a great fighter. While they are continuing to grow closer ,
Frankie starts treating her like his daughter. After a long trip to visit
Maggie’s trailer trash, scum of a family. Maggie tells Frankie a story
about how as a child her father took there sick dog Axel and put him out
of his misery. She then proceeds to tell Frankie she can’t live with out
him because, “ you are all I have in this world Frankie.“ He replies,
“well at least you have me.”
For Maggie’s birthday, Scrap takes Maggie out to a diner. Where after the
meal, Scrap has set up a meeting with a new manager, he does not want
frank to hold Maggie back. The manager offers Maggie a title match, if
she will let him manage her. She bluntly tells him, “ I will never leave
Frankie so you can stop finding ways to run into me.”
Frankie feels its time to get Maggie a title fight. He sets her up
fighting a British woman, who is just nasty looking. Frankie and Maggie
travel to Las Vegas for the fight. Frankie gives Maggie a jacket with
the name, “Mo Cuishle “ on the back. He agrees to tell her what it means
if she wins. Maggie fights wonderfully; she is just pounding this woman.
Just as the bell rings for round over, the woman slams Maggie right in
the check. Maggie goes reeling backward, as Scrap watches on TV in the
gym and Frankie looks on at the edge of the ring. Maggie falls and hits
her stool snapping her neck and sending the world into a stunned silence.
Maggie is now paralyzed she has lost the feeling and the ability to move
anything form the neck down. As she lay there in the hospital, relying
on machines to keep her alive, Frankie stands guard like a gargoyle
guarding his castle. Frankie has her moved to a rehabilitation center
because no one can fix her neck, she will live the rest of her life on
machines. Maggie starts getting bedsores, she even has to get one leg
amputated because of gangrene. Maggie asks Frankie, “ will you do for
me what my daddy did for Axel? ” Frankie starts crying and says no, I
can’t do it, I cant kill you ,I love you to much. She tells him “ I want
to go out fighting, I want to be able to still her people chanting my
name.” Frankie tells her no he can’t do it, later that night Maggie bite
her tongue and continued to bite it untill they sedated her.
The next night Frankie give Maggie her last wish. He sat on her bedside
and told her Mo Cuishle means, “ My Darling, My Blood .” He then gave her
a shot that took her life. Which gives you the question ,would you love
someone enough to help them die?
