If you could live in a past era, which era would you choose and why?January 9, 2017 at 3:38 pm #1201983993
I like the present.
Are you going to watch POTUS’ farewell address tomorrow?January 9, 2017 at 5:20 pm #1201984057
No. I can’t handle it. I will be too emotional.
Excluding the four most recent Presidents (Obama, Bush JR, Bush SR and Clinton) which US President do you admire most for their accomplishment in office?January 9, 2017 at 5:29 pm #1201984066
Ronald Reagan. Except for how dealt with AIDS epidemic he was probably one of the best presidents we ever had.
Why conservative posters are vilified here so much?January 9, 2017 at 8:17 pm #1201984140
I don’t believe they are.
Why are liberals ridiculed here so much?January 9, 2017 at 8:32 pm #1201984148
There are only few conservatives who do that so I think it is mostly a non-issue. This site is overwhelmingly left wing and always will be.
Will Benedict Cumberbatch ever win an Oscar?January 9, 2017 at 9:26 pm #1201984185
I think he’s going to stumble into one eventually. If Eddie Redmayne can do it …, no reason to think he can’t either with the right Oscar bait. “The Imitation Game” might have been that film in another year if Harvey didn’t ruin it.

Yes, I think he’s great and I believe he will win in lead someday 🙂
In honor of Meryl’s Lifetime Achievement Award, she is a three time Academy Award winner, who has won with dramatic roles for all three of her Oscars. Initially establishing herself as one of the most renowned dramatic actresses in the late 70s and 80s, she eventually started leaning towards comedic roles and films the further her career progressed.
My question is, do you think Meryl will win a fourth Oscar, and if so, will it be for another dramatic role, or do you think she could win for a comedic one?January 9, 2017 at 11:13 pm #1201984223
That was a lot of lead-Up to the question.
Yes, I think Streep will win again. She is the only actress her age regularly getting baity roles in big films. Eventually something will hit again. I think it will be a dramatic role just because it is always more likely to be a dramatic role and a biographical one at that.
Will a black director ever win the best director Oscar? If so, how far into the future are we talking? Is it someone making films now?

Yes, a black director will win, probably sooner than we think, and the director is likely active in the industry right now.
There are black directors lurking on the sidelines every year, they are constantly close to making it, and the more diverse the Academy and the more intense the pressure, the sooner we will see a DuVernay or a McQueen on the podium. I would say this will happen during the next ten years.
What would the home of your dreams be like and where would it be located?January 10, 2017 at 2:31 am #1201984414
a big private house on some cliff top overlooking the ocean. in a small, idyllic town.
or a nice country farmhouse and farm in Tennessee with lots of chicken but no cows because of the smell.
or one of those nice Victorian apartments in london since I’m still young and it might be too soon to abandon the city life.

I’m already in the home of my dreams….plus lots of renos.
Lots of land, no highways in sight, forest, fields, streams, and a very very big lake right next to me.
What are your three favorite films released this year?January 10, 2017 at 7:38 am #1201984577
I haven’t seen three films released this year yet, so I’ll go with my top three of 2016 (so far):
If you won an award and could only name three people you were thankful to, who would you choose and why?
