So, the thing is: I’m currently assiting the direction of an amateur theatre group with kids from 14 to 18 years old. The director wants to use “Don Quixote of La Mancha” by Cervantes as a basis for the work. The problem is half of them never heard of Don Quixote, while the other half only know a few things (basically that he fought windmills). So now I have to find a movie about Don Quixote to show them. What do you suggest? Please help me! *-*

Tough Q Roberto. I’ve been thinking about this and I guess I’d recommend the ’73 version by Helpmann and Nureyev. Then there’s Arthur Hiller’s version in ’72, Man of La Mancha with the wonderful Peter O’Toole and Sophia Loren, although I personally dont feel it’s a better film than the first.
If the students were a tad younger or need to have a laugh, I’m tempted to mention the Mr Magoo version. Lol.
Hope this helps. And good luck to y’all!

I love the O’Toole and Loren version but I also reccomend the 2000 version with John Lithgow. No joke. It was good and didn’t even feel like a made for tv movie.

Wow, these are great suggestions. I never saw the O’Toole/ Loren version of ‘La Mancha.” Just assumed that it was a train wreck in a junk yard … i gotta check it out. I love O’Toole’s (usually bad) musicals, even “Mr. Chips”

Thank you guys, I think I’ll go with the ’72 O’Toole/Loren version. As it is a theatre group, I think it’ll be a fun movie to show them.

    Thanks again 😀
