By far the Aviator is his best performance, and should’ve won him the Oscar. I did think he was exceptional in Inception as well, but that wasn’t really an acting film.

That would be WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE, of course.

Although I also admired DiCaprio’s work in J. EDGAR and thought he was unfairly snubbed by the Academy–he should have been nominated instead of Brad Pitt.

The Aviator was his best performance and was the performance that DiCaprio should’ve won an Oscar.

While I hated the film J. Edgar (mostly because of the typical droll Clint Eastwood piano score and drab b/w-esque cinematography), I admired his ability to really capture the essence of that character.

    Blood Diamond…

oh…and Jamie Foxx completely 100% no question about it deserved his Oscar for Ray! So don’t you dare say Leo shoulda won for The Aviator. Jamie Foxx was boss that year!!!!

I think his personal bests are:

    ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape’
    ‘The Departed’
    ‘The Aviator’
    ‘Catch Me If You Can’
    ‘Revolutionary Road’

Give me a damn break…that man can’t act to save his life. The voters obviously mixed acting with impersonation. He should have his Oscar revoked immediately.

Yes, and now he’s set to try to fill the big sexy boots of actors like Franco Nero and Tomas Milian as the next ‘Django’… I guess we should be prepared for lots of Foxx’s trademark squinty-eyed glares!!!

I have not seen all of his performances, but i really liked him a lot in “Catch me if you can”. I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated for that.

2002 was a really tough year and I can forgive the Academy because Brody, Nicholson, Day-Lewis and Caine were all really great!

He was on another level in Revolutionary Road. That performances blows all the others away with the exception of his work in Catch Me if You Can.

An why isn’t Shutter Island on the list? That performance was really good.
