Sorry, but it looks like I accidentally deleted the previous thread devoted to news & politics while I tried to kill some spam back here. So let’s start a new thread.

As the GOP convention nears, I’m terrified that something will happen to give the anti-Trump faction the ammo they need to stop his nomination. I want him to get the nom so all Republicans will lose a landslide this fall.

A while ago Bob Woodward said that the Washington Post has more than 20 INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS digging into Trump’s past. Surely, they’ll find some real doozy (or lots of them). Do you think they’ll choose to drop a few of those bombs on the eve of the convention? Ideally, it would best if they held off till August or September, of course.

If Trump’s former opponents’ campaigns couldn’t dig up anything fatal, I’m a little skeptical the Post will come up with something we’re not yet familiar of. I have no doubt, however, that the Clinton campaign has heaps of former Trump employees/colleagues who are ready to dish dirt on him. Just not sure it’ll be anything significantly worse than what’s already out there.

My hunch is Clinton will triumph by about the same margin Bush ’41 did in ’88 and her husband did in ’96 – about an 8-10% win in the popular vote. The Rs lose the Senate but hold on in the House, given the GOP-friendly redistricting that occurred in ’10 (when all of the new GOP governors came in).

First of all, they have the same number of reporters going through HRC’s past. Second, the Trump research is mostly for a book, so they might hold a lot of stuff secret.

Having said that, I don’t think the Never Trump movement needs any more ammunition.

Funny, I actually think Trump can pull off a win, if enough Hillary supporters and especially “Bernie or Bust” people don’t show up to vote. AND if Hillary chooses the safe, bland Tim Kaine as her VP nominee and if Trump chooses Newt Gingrich.

Trump should consider himself lucky in regards to his VP selection (UNLESS he picks someone phenomenally awful like David Duke or Hulk Hogan) for if he plays it safe by choosing either Christie or Sessions, it won’t help or hurt his campaign, whereas poor Hillary is caught between a rock and a hard place on that matter. If she chooses Elizabeth Warren she will lose ALL Wall Street backing but make herself look better for Bernie progressives, and if she chooses Tim Kaine, its the safe choice that won’t help her at all with progressives, and her Wall Street backing will continue on.

As for both Clinton and Trump, I genuinely believe the ONLY thing can completely derail either or both or their Presidential campaigns is this:

Trump’s problem, among others, is he needs at least 35-40% of the Hispanic vote, or else he’ll lose states like CO/NV/FL and without any of those, his path to 270 electoral votes is essentially non-existent. Right now, it looks like he’ll struggle to crack even 20% with Latinos.

I don’t see how a Trump-Gingrich ticket breaks 45 percent in the popular vote.

Gingrich would be a terrible VP choice, but a Gingrich vs Warren debate would be quite entertaining.

F.B.I. Director James Comey Recommends No Charges for Hillary Clinton on Email

This entire thing is so fishy that she should be disqualified by the DNC. Biden-Warren please (they don’t have the balls to choose Bernie).

Disqualify her? No. Comey has no love for the Clintons ever, so if enough evidence was there there, he would have said so and done more than what he did. He went way beyond his purview calling her “extremely careless” with her emails like he’s God or something. Hillary earned this nomination fair and square. And sadly/grossly, so has Trump.

So much UK news going on right now. Theresa May is now the second female PM ever to have the title, following the infamous “Iron Lady” herself, Margaret Thatcher. So who is Theresa May, anyways? Let’s find out.

Hopefully not a new Tatcher, that’s for sure! Lol. I do think she’ll be better than Cameron.

BREAKING NEWS: DARK Act passes the House
Call 202-456-1111 and urge President Obama to VETO the DARK Act

Terrible news, Teri! The DARK Act has just passed the House, after passing the Senate last week.

Our last hope is to convince President Obama to VETO this awful, undemocratic bill. We need you right now!

If Obama signs the DARK Act into law, it will invalidate state-based labeling laws, prevent states from passing these laws in the future, and eviscerate nationwide efforts to give consumers the right to know what’s in their food.

Call the White House RIGHT NOW at (202) 456-1111 and tell President Obama to VETO the DARK Act!

Thank you for your urgent call,

    Paige Richardson
