I am a huge fan of all these award shows….. hence the word AWARD SHOW. How many of us would love to just hear about the actors and the great shows that are out there that deserve awards?????!!!!!!. Please Golden Globes STIFLE your actors on their soap boxes about political matters. This is not Washington DC.</p>
ThanksHuge movie, t.v. fan
Rip carrie fisher and debbie Reynolds and Yeahhhhhh meryl streep!!!!!
ReplyJanuary 8, 2017 at 8:44 am #1201982048What are suggesting? Going to commercial? Playing music over them? Pulling them off stage with a hook like Fozzie Bear on “The Muppets”? This idea seems silly and flat-out unmanageable. You will probably hear some winners talk about Donald Trump and the state of our nation and if that bothers you watch something else and read the results afterward.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 8, 2017 at 8:45 am #1201982049So basically trump supporters will whine and cry if they hear any deserved jab at their leader? All of a sudden they don’t want politics when it doesn’t benefit their Cheeto head.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 8, 2017 at 4:44 pm #1201982332Here is what I do not understand. Hollywood hates Trump because, among other things, he is a bigot and—how to phrase this—sexually inappropriate. Perhaps not from Jimmy Fallon, but how many times will we hear jokes about Trump on the Golden Globes stage? So who is winning tonight? I am predicting Mel Gibson, despite his racism. And Casey Affleck, despite his multiple settled sexual harassment lawsuits.

This is my comment again….. meryl love ya as an actress…. keep the political to capital hill and movies for over paid actors to the tv awards. Congrats golden globes, just turned you off. I had asked to be able to just watch for the awards but you all movie star babies can’t shut your mouths and grow up.
Long time fan but not so much now.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 9, 2017 at 8:43 am #1201983714I am simply suggesting that they deal only with the awards and the accomplishments of the actors. This is not the political view show. It is a show about movies and tv. Yes the producers of this show and all the others should stifle this. I just want to watch and not hear their opinions on the president elect. I have watched these shows for many years, but I won’t anymore. That’s my choice.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 9, 2017 at 8:52 am #1201983721Agreed. I remember the year Cher presented and mocked the Academy for issuing a memo to dress more appropriately or whatever. :). Maybe they could issue one on pontificating boringly.
Other than blabber mouth Streep, however, I think most everyone else was pretty restrained.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 9, 2017 at 5:02 pm #1201984041Meghan McCain slammed the Devil Wears Prada star. “This Meryl Streep speech is why Trump won,” the talk radio host tweeted. “And if people in Hollywood don’t start recognizing why and how — you will help him get re-elected.”

So keep it up.
Who really cares what an elitist entertainer thinks about politics? Come on, what a waste of time. I wish she had provided anecdotes about her incredible body of work (except for Mama Mia, please).
I suppose she is not concerned about the large number of Trump supporters who used to go to her movies. However, I will certainly continue to support Meryls work despite her political vacuity.January 9, 2017 at 5:06 pm #1201984045Who really cares what an elitist entertainer thinks about politics?
Quoting for the irony.
