I think that we can all agree that 2007’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is Deakins’ best work to date. What I’m interested in asking is: “What is his 2nd best achievement?”

I don’t think “we can all agree” on any such thing.

I prefer Deakins’ work on 1984, and although I can’t stand the movie itself, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?

PS: You should have put this poll in the “OSCARS, GOLDEN GLOBES, AND FILM” thread, not here in the “GENERAL DISCUSSION” ghetto…

I personally like his work on Fargo and True Grit waaay more than that movie with the long title.

His work in TAoJJbtCRF is simply jaw-dropping. It’s so difficult choosing a favorite since, Roger Deakins is near unparalleled. I admire all of his work, and esp this, and Fargo.

His work in Kundun, Secret Garden, and The Man Who Wasnt There is also spectacular.

    Love this man’s work!
