As reported by Vanity Fair/Huffington Post:

Tom Cruise’s Scientology Ties: Former Girlfriend Reveals Details Of Wife-Auditioning Process

In the weeks following the news of Tom Cruise and Katie
Holmes’ split this summer, came various reports of the actor’s search
for a Scientology-friendly wife before he met Holmes. Rumor has it that Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson were also among those approached as marital prospects for Cruise.

And now, a new Vanity Fair cover story
reveals that in 2004, Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology chief
David Miscavige, oversaw a top-secret effort to find the next Mrs.
    Cruise.

The search yielded Nazanin Boniadi, an Iranian-born, London-raised
actress and Scientologist, who went on to date Cruise from November 2004
until January 2005. According to VF, Boniadi spent the month
prior to the courtship being audited every day, and was forced to share
personal secrets and details of her sex life with a high-ranking
    Scientology official.

The story reports, “Boniadi allegedly was told to lose her braces,
her red highlights, and her boyfriend. According to a knowledgeable
source, she was shown confidential auditing files of her boyfriend to
expedite a breakup. (Scientology denies any misuse of confidential
material.) The source says Boniadi signed a confidentiality agreement
and was told that if she “messed up” in any way she would be declared a
Suppressive Person (a pariah and enemy of Scientology).”

After a blissful first month, the relationship turned sour when
Boniadi’s behavior toward David Miscavige was interpreted by Cruise as
disrespectful. Boniadi was later sent to a Scientology Center in
Florida, where she made the mistake of confiding in a friend when she
was unable to hide her emotional distress –despite having been strictly
forbidden to reveal the details of her courtship with Cruise.

According to Vanity Fair’s source, the friend reported her
to Scientology officials. “Boniadi’s punishment was to scrub toilets
with a toothbrush, clean bathroom tiles with acid, and dig ditches in
the middle of the night. After that she was sent out to sell Scientology
founder L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics on street corners,” reports the
    magazine.

It looks as if the Church of Scientology’s damage control efforts won’t be put to rest anytime soon.

As reported by ABC News/Good Morning America:

Paul Haggis Supports Vanity Fair Story on Tom Cruise Girlfriend Audition

Did Tom Cruise, Church of Scientology Audition Wives?

    By (@LinseyDavis)

    Sept. 4, 2012

Oscar-winning director and former Scientologist Paul Haggis supports Vanity Fair’s story that actress Nazanin Boniadi was auditioned by the Church of Scientology to be Tom Cruise’s real-life girlfriend.

In an email to ShowBiz411.com, Haggis says he has known Boniadi for three years.

“Naz was embarrassed by her unwitting involvement in this incident and
never wanted it to come out, so I kept silent,” Haggis wrote in the
email published on the website Sunday. “I was deeply disturbed by how
the highest ranking members of a church could so easily justify using
one of their members; how they so callously punished her and then so
effectively silenced her when it was done.”

The Church of Scientology told ABC News in a statement today that “The
entire story is hogwash. There was no project, secret or otherwise, ever
conducted by the Church to find a bride (audition or otherwise) for any
    member.”

The church also says, “No church members were ‘used,’ nor were they punished, nor silenced.”

As for Haggis, Karin Pouw, a spokeswoman for the Church of Scientology
International, said he is an “apostate.” She told ABC News today that
Haggis is “attempting to grab headlines and falsely slander his former
    religion.”

In the October issue of Vanity Fair, special correspondent Maureen Orth
writes that actresses were told they were auditioning for a training
film, and asked, “What do you think of Tom Cruise?”

Orth, who interviewed “several sources,” says the entire arrangement was
headed by Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology chief David
    Miscavige.

Marc Headley, a former Scientologist, told Vanity Fair that he saw those
audition tapes when he was the head of the church’s in-house production
    studio.

“We assumed that this was going to be for “Mission Impossible 3,” and
then I later found out that it was just an audition process to try and
find a girlfriend for Tom Cruise,” Headley told ABC News in July.

The Church of Scientology says Headley is a disgruntled former member of
the church who they accused of embezzlement. Headley denied the
allegations and no charges were filed.

Vanity Fair reports that “in a month-long preparation,” Boniadi was
“told to lose her braces, her red highlights and her boyfriend.” The
    Iranian-born, London-raised actress even reportedly signed a
confidentiality agreement and was told if she “messed up” she would be
declared an enemy of Scientology, the magazine wrote.

ABC News reached out to Boniadi, but she has no statement or comments at this time.

Boniadi and Cruise first met in November 2004, according to the article.
Boniadi, the magazine claims, “first sensed that this was possibly
going to be an arranged marriage” and although they spent that first
night together “they did not have sex.”

Vanity Fair reported that Cruise told Boniadi, “I’ve never felt this way
before,” and eventually his affection became “overwhelming” for the
actress. Cruise reportedly complained to Boniadi, “I get more love from
an extra than from you,” according to Vanity Fair.

The article claims that Boniadi moved into Cruise’s home and was given a
credit card issued in the name of his production company as her only
    source of money.

The relationship ended in January 2005, the magazine reported, just
three months before Cruise appeared in public with Katie Holmes. The
article claims that Cruise wanted “someone with her own power, like
    Nicole Kidman.”

Boniadi, the magazine writes, was then reportedly sent to a Scientology
center where she broke down and revealed her relationship with Cruise to
a friend, which supposedly violated her confidentially agreement. As
punishment, Vanity Fair says her chores included “scrubbing toilets with
a toothbrush, cleaning tiles with acid and digging ditches in the
    middle of the night.”

The Church of Scientology, however, denied this to the magazine, saying,
“The Church does not punish people, especially in that way.”

Following the reported failed relationship, Boniadi, 32, went on to
appear in the soap opera “General Hospital” and had a role in the 2010
blockbuster film, “Iron Man.” Boniadi is now a spokesperson for Amnesty
International and no longer involved with Scientology, according to the
    magazine.

Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise earlier this year after six years
of marriage. The couple has a 6-year-old daughter named Suri. Holmes did
not become a Scientologist until she started dating Cruise. A rep for
Holmes told ABC News that she has no comment on the story and it was
done without Holmes’ participation even though her face is on the cover
    of the issue.

Scientologists turned Isabella and Connor Cruise against mother Nicole Kidman: report
By | omg! from Yahoo! – 2 hours 15 minutes ago

When Nicole Kidman was served with divorce papers by Tom
Cruise in 2001, she didn’t just lose a husband – she also lost the relationship
she had with her two adopted children with the actor, Isabella and Connor. In
the 11 years since the split, the “Rabbit Hole” actress has only been seen with
the kids a handful of times and she has gone on record to say they don’t even
call her “Mom.” Now, Vanity Fair is revealing why: because she was not a
    Scientologist, like their father.

Tom Cruise’s Scientology marriages: the secret wife auditioning process before Katie

In the magazine’s October issue, special correspondent
Maureen Orth gives an in-depth look into Cruise’s controversial religion. In
addition to reporting that he “auditioned” women to be his wife before Katie
Holmes, Orth also claims that members of the church turned Isabella and Connor,
who were 8 and 6 respectively at the time, against their mother. “The
central problem [in the marriage] was Nicole did not want to deal with
Scientology,” former high-ranking Scientologist Marty Rathbun tells VF.

After the split from Cruise, Kidman, 45, was labeled a
“Suppressive Person,” or SP, which is what Scientologists call those who they
deem toxic to their beliefs – and Isabella and Connor, now 19 and 17, were
urged to view their mother as an SP. “They rejected Nicole – they’ve been
instructed,” John Brousseau, who was a Scientologist for 32 years until
2010 and formerly the bodyguard and brother-in-law to church leader David Miscavige,
    tells VF.
“They took a course, P.T.S./S.P., Potential
Trouble Source/Suppressive Person, for persons connected in their lives who are
an S.P. [Bella and Connor] whispered to me, ‘J.B., Nicole is an S.P.! Our mom’s
an S.P. – we hate going and seeing her.'”

Brousseau and other sources tell Orth that Scientology
members were also instructed to not see any of Kidman’s films. “The
Scientology world hated Nicole,” Brousseau adds. “People in Sea Org
were mandated to see every freaking Tom Cruise movie that came out. But if you
ever mentioned an inkling to see a movie with Nicole, oh my God, you’d hear
    about it.”

All claims made by VF, including the report that
Isabella and Connor were turned against Kidman, have been adamantly denied by
The Church of Scientology. Kidman’s rep did not comment to VF or omg! when contacted.

After splitting from Cruise, Kidman went on to marry
country singer Keith Urban and has two biological children of her own: Sunday
Rose, 4, and Faith Margaret, 21 months.
