    Who will be selected by Entertainment Weekly as the Entertainer of the Year? Who will be in the top 10? Explain your answer(s), and we may feature them in an upcoming blog item.

    I think Martin Freeman could be a huge contender. He probably wont be Entertainer of the Year, but he could easily be in the top 10. He had Fargo, Sherlock, and The Hobbit this year (all of which have had great publicity.

    I could also see Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Intimidation Game), Angelina Jolie (Maleficent, Unbroken), and Mark Ruffallo (The Normal Heart, Foxcatcher) also making it

    But if I had to choose a frontrunner, it would me Matthew McConaughey

    First two that came to mind:

    Matthew McConaughey (True Detective, Intersteller, Lincoln ads)

    Julianne Moore (Still Alice, Maps to the Stars, The Hunger Games)

    Chris Pratt

    Ooh. Duh. He’s the star of both The LEGO Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s hard to beat. He should win.

    There’s also:

    Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother ending, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Gone Girl, hosting the Oscars next year, new variety show next year)

    Mark Ruffalo (Begin Again, The Normal Heart, Foxcatcher)

    Remember, it’s not an award – it’s a cover designed to sell magazines.

    I expect Matthew McConaughey. In fact, I can’t really imagine anyone else.

    Maybe Angelina Jolie? Starring in the biggest movie of her career (i think), directing a possible huge oscar contender, and although its not really related to entertaining but she finally married Brad Pitt haha.

    Although even with that all said, if i had to pick someone to guess id go with McConaughey

    Kristen Bell, bar none.  A career year, she’s had.  Witness:

    The ginormous success of ‘Frozen’, including reigning at the Japan boxoffice for almost one-third of a year, something very few gaijin (foreign) movies have been able to do;

    The miracle that was ‘Veronica Mars’; its Kickstarter success will lead the way for other small-budget movies to go the crowdfunding route;

    The #NoKidsPolicy, her and husband Dax Shepard’s gallant effort to shield the children of celebrities from the stalkerazzi, which is now up to 60 news outlets not accepting illegal photos of said kids;

    The couple’s video for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S, that company’s answer to the Apple Iphone release hype, winds up with a mighty 20 million+ YouTube views.

    Angelina Jolie. Headlined a Summer blockbuster and directed what will probably be a Christmas blockbuster. Chris Pratt would be next in line.

    You forgot her supporting role in Showtime’s House of Lies. I’m surprised you didn’t mention her Funny or Die Mary Poppins parody video.

    I feel like since GQ already has Pratt as one of their Men of the Year they will pass on him like People did for Sexiest Man Alive. McConaughey is a good pick but I feel like they like to go with someone that is in the now and not someone who was really big at the begining of the year. The last two were Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck riding on October movies so he might get in with the hype around Interstellar. I think Neil Patrick Harris is a safe choice, he will definitly be inside the magazine somewhere. Jolie is a possibility too like with Bullock only really doing two big projects (The Heat/Gravity) rather than many like some of the other people they pick in the magazine

    House of Lies, yes, will be her longest tenured TV show (4 seasons), and almost 3 million views for the MP Quits video.  But Showtime continued to press Edie Falco as its prime comedy actress ticket and once more relegated Bell to Supporting Actress status when she is CLEARLY the female lead.

    Chris Pratt, Taylor Swift or some Entertainment Weekly gimmick like “The Cast of the Walking Dead”
