I would be very disappointed to see The Imitation Game get an Oscar nod. For those overly glossy sets to have been nominated here over the more textured, authentic work in Mr. Turner is gross.

^This actually makes me rethink my predictions for a bit. I had Mr. Turner in, but if it doesn’t get in here, I kind of have to wonder. My other 4, Grand Budapest, Into the a Woods, Birdman, and Interstellar all got in, but I might move in Unbroken following this. Not sure what to think really.

Very surprised Mr. Turner didn’t make it in. Unbroken was an odd pick for production design

    Interesting choices.

Every year these guys and their ilk demonstrate that they have no idea what Fantasy and Science Fiction means. By their choices the only fantasy film in the mix should win….

Did they ever have a separate category for the two genres? Seems to me everything is fair by having period, contemporary, and fantasy (genre all inclusive).

So Imitation Game and Theory of Everything had better production design than Mr. Turner? That’s a good one.

I loved the production design in Big Eyes too. Would have liked to see it get in Period Film.

How the hell are Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Interstellar fantasy films.

The category is usually fantasy/ sci-fi.

They wouldn’t have a category exclusively for fantasy films.

Only surprise here is Guardians of the Galaxy winning… thought it was between Interstellar and Into the Woods
