So, do you think either of them will make a wager?  I’ll even give them odds. Lol.

    Tom.

I ahve been an avid LINCOLN fan since
the reviews and the nominations and i am not
about to change now….I still think the academy
will choose Lincoln over Argo in the end..It is
IMO a truly masterful , typical oscar winning
    best picture.
I think it will win 5 oscars, including
    PICTURE, DIRECTOR, ADAPTED SCREENPLAY, ACTOR…
either TL Jones in supporting or john Williams’ score…

I ahve  ARGO  for just film editing…

Well, Roger Ebert predicted ‘Crash’ in 2005.

Though I agree that Argo is the favorite, I still think it is a close race, and might switch back to Lincoln before the awards. And I expect I will keep saying at the least it is close.

I give them some credit for holding on. I am kind of doing same thing myself, just waiting on the last big matchup at WGA. But Lincoln hasn’t really gotten traction anywhere? Don’t understand why anyone would predict anything other then DDL for it at this point.

Well, Sasha is completely bias. She acted the same way when Social Network lost.

The reasons would include that actual voting doesn’t begin until tomorrow, preferential voting, and the chance that Academy members might now react to the Argo surge by thinking more seriously about which of the two films is better before voting.

Yep, hit the nail on the head.

Sasha is terrible. Her website sucks. She is so intense and annoying sometimes that I feel like I don’t want to read her anymore.

I disagree about Sasha’s website.  I hadn’t listened to her before this year, but I really love her podcasts and admire her passion. She has an interesting perspective and doesn’t go with the crowd.   I find the vehemence behind the Lincoln take-down rather appalling, esp. when Wells is calling him a hack and obviously has hated him for years.  I agree that Lincoln’s the best movie; I’d pick Zero Dark Thirty as #2, but I am predicting Argo and Terrio.  I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t reward Kushner… until I remember that Up in the Air lost to Precious. *sigh*

I am in several Oscar pools; there are so many tossup categories.  There are only about five that I think are “locks.”  I’m even starting to question whether the Argo score can beat Life of Pi.

I have the feeling Argo will either do really well or really poor on Oscar night. If the love is strong, look for it to take categories like Adapted Screenply, editing,  Score and the sound awards in addition to best film. Arkin is the only one that would truly shock me- the other categories it’s up for are pretty strong.

Lincoln is in traction to win for Day-Lewis and Jones, and hopefully Adapted Screenplay- but other then that it’s iffy for best picture and yep- best director too.

I am still interested to hear from you in particular seanflynn- what voters you have talked to have said in regards to Lincoln vs Argo- are they saying they only like the Lincoln movie for Day-Lewis? Do they understand why its not winning the top categories? Just curious.

I’ve decided not to bug my contacts until the voting starts (tomorrow). In past years, with all mail ballots, the voting took place over several weeks. Now it will be less than two, and I think it makes more sense to wait until the polls have opened.

Update: Both of them are predicting for Argo to win now. So, therefore, no one is predicting Lincoln to win.
