I don’t think that Maggie Gyllenhaal or Viola Davis has a shot over Keira Kngithley. It’s one think that you like them, but it won’t make them a nominee. And Lawrence is very much supporting in Silver Lining Playbook. Also, Leslie Mann is not happening. EVER.

    2. Keira Knightley….good point, she’s 2/2 for the GG for Joe Wright films so far. 3/3 is a definite possibility
    3. Leslie Mann – probably not, but you never know. They DID nominate Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp for The Tourist, which was also nominated for best comedy movie. stranger things have happened than a nod for Leslie Mann…
    4. The Globes love Gyllenhaal. It WAS strange though that the only possible time they snubbed her was the time she went on to get an Oscar nomination…

the comedy/musical categories of the GG are the biggest jokes in the award season, Tatum had 3 movies that grossed over than 100M this year (something I didn’t even know if any actor was capable of do until this year) and Magic Mike was well received by the critics, he can certainly be nominated.

To date, Walter Brennan is the only actor to go undefeated at the Oscars (3/3), go on to earn a nomination beyond their record and lose on this occasion.

Tatum has had a huge year and has been hailed all over the place as the new leading man of Hollywood.  The Globes eat that stuff up.

I can totally see Tatum getting the nod. Current preds in that category:

    Tatum – Magic Mike
Murray – Hyde Park on Hudson
    Jones – Hope Springs
    Jackman – Les Mis
    Cooper – Silver Linings Playbook

I love the Globes and their inclusion of Comedy maybe cringeworthy sometimes, but it is always fun to see five extra stars given the deserving (most often than not) recognition. My predictions-

    Best Comedy/Musical
    1. Les Miserables
    2. Hyde Park on Hudson
    3. Moonrise Kingdom
    4. Hope Springs
    5. Silver Linings Playbook

    Best Actor
    Comedy/Musical

    1. Hugh Jackman, Les Miserables
    2. Bill Murray, Hide Park on Hudson
    3. Tommy Lee Jones, Hope Springs
    4. Jack Black, Bernie
    5. Bradley Cooper, Silver Linings Playbook
    6. Johnny Depp, Dark Shadows

    Best Actress Comedy/Musical
    1. Maggie Smith, Quartet
    2. Meryl Streep, Hope Springs
    3. Laura Linney, Hide Park on Hudson
    4. Kristen Wiig, Imogene
    5. Leslie Mann, This is 40

    1. She was nominated for The Help. She won’t be nominated for The Help again under another movie title. If her performance is great, she’s in, but not because of The Help. But I can’t see her making the cut. Sorry.
    2. Keira Knightley is one of the safest bet this year.
    3. Leslie Mann is NOT Angelina Jolie or Johnny Depp. They were nominated based on their star-status in Hollywood. Any question?
    4. I’m not sure about her chances. The drama categories used to be very stong.

^About Leslie Mann, let’s see what happens. It’s Judd Apatow’s followup to Bridesmaids, plus he wrote, directed, produced it. Also, it’s the “sort of sequel to Knocked-Up.” So if the movie is a hit or any good, I could definitely see them nominating it’s lead star, and the movie itself.
