I didn’t realize this will be televised. Thanks for the notice! I watched some old interviews from 2010, when Kathryn Bigelow was campaigning for The Hurt Locker. She totally owned Cameron, Daniels, Reitman, and yes even Tarantino with her intellectual discussion of her film and cinema. Tarantino always got laughs, but Bigelow is operating at a level of thought and filmmaking few people reach in the industry, and made it her goal from the beginning to use cinema to advance the medium. I’m sure Boal will be there; those two are bound to the hip. Maybe someone else will pay tribute to her, a famous fan? I have so much respect for her. She is very modest and humble, and it’s never about her (unless you are in the editing room)–quite a few big shot directors out there could take a page from her book. This is a great American artist and collaborator (an auteur who would probably refuse to accept the designation).

Must. resist. temptation to say WTF to the Britannias for honoring someone who only directed 11 feature films in her nondescript career.
