    Are you French?

Good for them for nominating all five Mustang girls at the same time. The film had its flaws but their chemistry was the thing that have held the whole movie together.
But the screenplay wasn’t its strongest part imo, I would have nominated in the directing instead.

Fatima is also a very good film. Glad it didn’t go unnoticed.

Sometimes I wish the Academy were more like the Cesars. The Lumieres are a pretty bad precursor for the Cesars – the most unpredictable industry awards. Just take a look at their choices over the years. They’re rarely sentimental and they usually surprise in at least half the categories. They love genre films and they have no trouble giving a comedy awards. They don’t care about precursors and yes, they have their huge favorites and they have the balls to reward them. Why can’t the Oscars be like that?!

I hate to bring that up here but right now we all know Carol is probably not even making it into directing (even though I won’t give up on that and I’ll move Todd Haynes to # 1 in my predictions just for the pleasure of having him on top) and it has no shot at winning best picture (because of the PGA and SAG snubs) and production design (because the winner is always at least a guild nominee). With the Cesars this doesn’t matter. Shit!
