My only gripe; no Interstellar. Still, this is a thousand times better than the pathetic, horse-s lineup the Oscars tried to peddle as the best in film.

It’s basically ‘Some Of The Oscar Line-Up……Now With Added Blockbusters’

Keep your knickers on those who are saying this is a marked improvement. They’ve literally just added what are the most popular films of the year. Not that revelatory.

^Don’t worry, I think the only person who is impressed is Guest2014.  I doubt anyone else here is follish enough to equate making money with quality.

and how is THAT/THOSE* scene(s) in Gone Girl not up for Best WTF Moment?

*Rosamund Pike shoving a bottle up there/ slashing Neil Patrick Harris’ throat while in the throws of ‘passion’.

Ah, I was just tinkering with my own predictions, thinking that these would be announced any day now, and here they are!

For Movie of the Year, I am a little surprised that The Imitation Game, with $87 million domestically, couldn’t make it in to a lineup of 8 movies (or into any category for that matter), but the top 3 box office producers did, along with critically acclaimed lower grossing Boyhood and Whiplash, so I suppose it was one or the other, with Hunger Games likely to win again.
I am very surprised to see Tatum in for male performance in Foxcatcher, and without Hutcherson, this should be a race between Cooper and Elgort (who I think is more likely to just win in breakthrough).
For female performance, I thought that Pike would make it in (she’ll win scared as s***) and I suspect Lawrence wins again, although she faces a strong challenge from Woodley.
I can’t believe that Evans and Mackie missed out for duo and would seriously love to see Franco and Rogen win this one.
Neighbors should win best fight, although I suspect Evans and Stan will there.
It’s Stone and Garfield vs. Woodley and Elgort for Best Kiss.
But the Best Villain category has the biggest surprises for me, with no Jolie, Foxx, Sutherland, or anyone from Guardians of the Galaxy here, but maybe this is now how Simmons will win.

Sometimes, money equals quality.  They are not mutually exclusive.  The original Star Wars, Forrest gump, Titanic, the LOTR trilogy, Avatar.  All examples of boxoffice success equalling quality.  And anyone who thinks as espnfan does is part of the problem with movie awards shows.  I don’t accept that the best pictures and performances are exclusively to be found on the arthouse circuit.

I don’t think it was meant as box office takings matches the quality of a film. It was meant that quality shouldn’t be measured by box office takings, and rather it should be based on the film itself.

Rosamund Pike for “Scared-As-Shit Performance”? How about “Scary-As-Shit Performance”! Also, how the hell is she nominated for that category and Breakthrough, but not Best Female Performance?

Well, perhaps the people who put these awards together could neither spell nor pronounce it.

What an unnatural mix of films. Thanks for posting them Paul.

Yes Paul. An award show with Best Kiss and Best Shirtless Performance needs to be pimped as better than the Oscars. Oh Paul.
