I’ve searched through the forums to see if there already was an existing 2016 Oscar Thread but I could not find it. Please excuse me if it already exists, but it’s impossible when you have 5 different Carol threads, 10 OscarsSoWhite threads, 15 Stallone threads…

And I bring the OscarsSoWhite topic because I feel next year we’re gonna see black actors nominated. Ruth Negga is benefiting a lot from this controversy. So, who do you think it’s getting a nomination next year? I have to say that, in this super early phase of the season, most predictions are baity on paper. You’ll see a lot of biopics and previous nominees/winners movies listed. Are you gonna be safe or adventurous? Go on! I’ll only do Top 6.

Doesn’t Miles Ahead starring Don Cheadle come out this year?

I love Meryl and Emily Blunt. I’m definitely going to the theatres to go see their films.

Jackie has a 2017 release date, so I don’t think it’ll make the cut. I’m think Ruth Negga instead for Loving. She’ll be helped by the diversity controversy.

Would welcome Scarlett’s first nomination and see Rosamund Pike up there agian (even through i hate her being another posh, rich, upper class, british actor who was chucked roles) also they can make up for idris snub.

It’ll be interesting if Adams wins cuz:
5 years after Meryl got all the lead noms for One True Thing, overshadowed co-star Zellweger got an Oscar.
6 years after Meryl got all the lead noms for Devil Wears Prada, overshadowed co-star Hathaway got an Oscar.
It’ll be 7 years since Meryl got all the lead noms for Julie and Julia instead of overshadowed co-star Adams…

Manchester By The Sea has great reviews coming out of Sundance. Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams and Kyle Chandler star, and it is directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan. Synopsis: Lee Chandler is made a legal guardian of his dead brother’s son and returns to his hometown to care for the teenage boy.

I’m curious about The Circle. with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks done by the director of the End of the Tour and the Spectacular Now. It’s a sci-fi, drama, thriller. It has John Boyega also so it could make a lot of money. Also the academy has a likeness to sci-fi randomly. Emma Watson in the lead role… She’s capable. Also coming out in October. I think we could see a possible winner here.

Based purely off Sundance early reactions, some potential runners have emerged this far:

Manchester By The Sea – Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler.
    Christine – Rebecca Hall
Tallulah – Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard
