Well to reply to something in the last thread, I agree that Mudbound will probably be mostly snubbed since it’s Netflix, eventually the Oscars will nominate something from a streaming service but I don’t think this will be it.

I think Mudbound will get some love, just not sure what. The likeliest is a nod for Mary J. Blige.

Either way, I’m really looking fwd to: Call Me By Your Name, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, The Papers, Phantom Thread, Woodshock, Lean On Pete, The Shape of Water, On Chesil Beach, Blade Runner 2049.

Movies I’m very curious/excited about but am not sold on, they might not be as huge as people think: Downsizing, Suburbicon, Mother!, Wonder Wheel, Battle of the Sexes, Victoria and Abdul, The Current War, The Glass Castle, Killing of a Sacred Deer, Marshall. (movies that I want to succeed: Sacred Deer, Marshall, Glass Castle, Mother!)

Already seen movies that will likely get at least one or two nods: Detroit, Dunkirk, The Beguiled, Get Out and…can that really be it?

I don’t see anything beyond a SAG ensemble nod for Mudbound (Netflix!!!) – maybe a random Golden Globe nod for Blige or Jason Mitchell?

They won’t nominate a Netflix movie until they start using Amazons method. There movies come out and may have buzz for two days and then disappear. I’m so sad for Okja because that was a truly cinematic film and I wish I got to see it in theatres but I wasn’t able to.

It’s still July, yeah that’s probably it, some of those might not even get anything.
