Critics’ Choice faced two backlashes last year. First was the initial snub of Star Wars because they wanted to be first. Second was T.J. Miller’s hosting.

Apparently not one for criticism, the next ceremony will be December 11, even earlier than when nominations were announced last year. So who knows when nominations will be this year? (How about right now?) Miller returns as host.

I mean, I already felt like they had no credibility, so.

I’m more curious about whether there will be late-debuting shows they won’t get around to. I mean, I don’t see much credibility there too, but at least they’re not just trying to predict the Emmys.

^ I agree. The Critic’s Choice is riddled with the kind of underhanded political crap that got “Unbroken” nominated. I pay attention to the Critic’s Choice the same way I pay attention to the Golden Globes: good for you if you win, but it means nothing.

Nominations on the 1st. There were 31 days between noms/wins last year, now down to 10.
So just about the same time as the National Board of Review.

This is kind of crazy, and by “kind of”, I mean “completely”

So they feel the voters will have been able to screen all of the buzzed about films by then? Interesting…

Lol this is just pathetic. Almost as if they are acknowledging their own irrelevance.

    At least they’re honest then.

My guess is that a lot of stars will skip the ceremony- as they should.

The backlash was never against the “initial Disney Wars snub”, the backlash was against them adding that in as an 11th nominee, as a blatantly cynical ratings grab, while even more weirdly not including it in ANY other categories, like Visual Effects or Sound. If they were going to be that cheap, they ought to have at least been consistent about it! 😉

I just hope the Critics Choice Awards don’t cheat again by adding an 11th, or heaven forbid a 12th nominee just for ratings sake, like they did last year with Disney Wars.

If they want to be inclusive, then the logical thing to do move the voting deadline forward more. Simple as that. Their TV winners are generally better than their Film winners, so I’m not too worried about this ceremony being an entertaining one. I also hope Miller does better than he did last time, and for more people to actually show up this time to collect their Awards.

If the Critics Choice Awards keep getting generally ignored by Hollywood, they’ll be the least reputable Awards show that isn’t called the Hollywood Film Awards… “shudder”, and NO ONE want to be those. The HFA make the Golden Globes look as serious and respectable as the Oscars or Emmys. 🙁

Exactly! If only their Film nominations and winners showed even a fraction as much courage and out-of-the-box choices as the TV side, maybe then these Awards could be taken remotely seriously. Maybe.

Now that we know the nominations will be announced on December 1, will a predictions center still open up so that we can predict the nominations beforehand? If any editor like Tom, Paul, Chris, Daniel or Marcus can answer this question I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.
