Every since the BAFTA, Golden Globes, SAG Award, BFCA and Oscar all gave awards there has only been one tim when an actor won all the first four but not the oscar this was
2001: Russell Crowe, A Beautiful Mind
I was wondering and hearing that this year Christopher Plummer if he wins the BAFTA could maybe lose the Oscar to Max von Sydow. I hope this does not happen, but what do you think of this.
I just posted about Plummer in the Supporting Actor thread.
Having just seen Beginners, I think an upset is seriously possible despite the fact that I haven’t seen EL&IC. Plummer gave a nothing performance in a film I can see not appealing much to the dominant AMPAS demographic. I seriously can’t believe that that performance is steamrolling the awards season. I guess it says more about the politics of these awards and just how much momentum really matters, but still.
